The Black Death
According to historians, the bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death, was one of the most destructive plagues in history. The plague killed an estimated 350-375 million people in the Late Middle Ages between 1346-1353.How did this powerful pandemic start? How did the Black Death change the life of people in Europe? The Black Death led to civil wars and revolts, but it also created new opportunities in Europe. The Black Death was thought to initially begin in China and Central Asia, spreading to Crimea by the year of 1346 through the Silk Road. The Silk Road is an ancient trade route for West and East merchants. From Crimea, the plague was transmitted by rat fleas and black rats that lived in the merchant ships. It then spread throughout the Great European Continent. It was also thought that the plague spread through Europe not just by land and air, but also the seaports around Europe.
Some revolts and civil wars rise as people lost their beliefs to the church. Peasants revolted to their King and Lords, lots of criminals and thieves stole the remaining and abandoned goods from merchants, and some groups has been targeted as scapegoats because they believed that these certain people spread the …show more content…

These were the cures and treatment they believed to cure the plague. On the good side, the Black Death led to new explorations and trade routes for merchants to use. New explorations found spices that became on demand around Europe. The plague has a great impact on art and literature as some artists drew pictures of the plague showing a feeling of sorrow and melancholy. It also represents “evil” and “death”.
