The Civil War, one of the most pivotal and significant points in America's history was a time that pitted two drastically different societies of America against each other. Abraham Lincoln's Union was an industrial powered society located in the North. In the South was the agriculturally powered Confederacy led by Jefferson Davis. Despite the fact that the opposing sides coincided in the same country, many did not agree with the beliefs and ideas of each other. Those of the Union firmly believed that failure to preserve their society was an affront to the founding fathers of the Democratic Republic. A large majority of the Northerners shared this opinion, but this was not the driving force for all belonging to the union. Those dubbed abolitionists
