Through battle and war, countries have individually developed a unique sense of patriotism and differentiated their cultures from one another. At the start of World War I, the preponderance of American citizens obtained anti-war beliefs. The majority of the US population preferred to stay clear of battle and preserve their ideas of isolationism, which included sustaining America’s separation from foreign affairs and political issues. However, as time went on and German attacks became more frequent and aggressive, these beliefs were soon transformed into a unified pro-war sentiment. President Wilson believed strongly in maintaining a neutral status and even attempted to continue trade with each side, but after German sabotage sank the Lusitania,

The economic elements during the time 1914-1918 can be defined by the actions taken to gear up for World War I. The war called for some major economic help, but many people feared that with such reliance on major industries big businesses would become more controlling over the nation than ever before. The winter of 1917 didn’t help matters when it came to the railroad system as the industry was hit hard by blizzards, fuel shortages, labor unrest, union strikes, as well as poor coordination of private railroad companies preventing trains from delivering war-related freight (Keene, 607). Because of these issues, the federal government decided to intervene and take the management of the railroad corporation into their own hands until the war ended.

Immigrants who were poor and unskilled traveled to America for a better way of life. Many came from countries such as Italy and Germany to flee persecution, pursue religious freedom and the economic opportunities that the United States offered. However, due to a number of factors, this new life in America was not very pleasant. Many found that simply working hard to better the lives of their families was not enough. When they came to America, they arrived without much money, property or friends. They first had to find a place
The impact of World War One on American society was dramatic, in the sense where it gave the U.S.A and its industries success such as its economic strength over European competitors, and consequences such as social and economic problems, immigration troubles and isolationism. The war resulted in great benefits but also disadvantages too. Economic strength was one of the benefits which resulted because of the war. As far as disadvantages Americas main issue was with its money, scary to see how even that long ago we were struggling with money.
November 11, 1918 brought about the end of World War I and the demise of the German economy. With no hope for the future, the German people became desperate and eventually put a young man with big dreams into power by the name of Adolf Hitler. To succeed in his goal of bringing back honor and respect to Germany Hitler knew he needed loyal people in large quantities.
