National holidays are to celebrate or remember a person or event’s impact on the country. World War II would be a great example that this would be a great addition as a holiday. The events that took place in World War II was a horrible for not just our country but, the world. This event needs to be remembered so people can honor the soldiers and the victims who died in the war. For example the event drastically changed the world, many people are impacted by the events that took place, and history shouldn’t repeat itself to make such a horror happen again. This Event changed the world by breaking people’s families apart and using them for labor or other things to benefit their nation. They treated the people foul and gave them a horrible
World War 2 didn't just only affect the US, but it affected the whole world. However, even though the whole world was affected, the US was really the only country to prosper from the horrific event. Many positive changes had occurred during the time after the war. The most important postive aspects were that the US economy didn't go into debt due to the war, like other countries; also the US power on the world and its military grew and developed. Another postive changed was that many acts were passed in the US because of what happened during the war, also the United States grew relationships with other countries, The US then ended up creating a group called the United Nations, which was a peaceful way to settle conflicts amognst countries.
In this essay I will be explaining three reasons on how WW2 started. The question I used for this research was; what caused WW2? The reasons that I chose was; 1. How the treaty of Versailles caused WW2, 2. How fascism caused the war and 3. How Hitler caused WW2.
American was greatly affected by WWII, specifically socially, economically, and politically. In the United States discrimination was increased between different races, different genders, and immigrants. The United States has since recovered from the obstacles that World War II had brought amongst the economic, political and social systems throughout the country.
World War 2 has been one of the greatest wars in history. It affected many people besides the Jewish community. This war changed America in so many ways including culturally, socially, and technologically. During this war the United States acquired some allies and also enemies. In my opinion a “good war” would be a war that causes change, whether it is economically and so on.
World War Two brought about extreme changes to the United States. In many ways it changed how Americans acted and thought about themselves, thus making a statement to rest of the world. Moreover, World War Two strengthened the United States, and Federal Government. The Government took control of entire industries, According to Bernstein, “military leaders acted from a mixture of motives and attitudes—a desire to control the economy to guarantee military-supply programs” (Bernstein, 1967). They fixed Americans wages, rent, rationing of food, and other supplies.
World War II changed the American psyche from isolationism to wanting to go to war. Before America entered the war most people were isolationists, or against joining the war. With the Great Depression and the memories of the tragic losses from WWI not many people supported America’s involvement in oversea affairs. The ones who wanted to go to war were usually more radical and wanted to assert America’s power to show that we are the strongest country. Most people knew this was a bad idea being that this would just waste innocent lives. With the Japanese trying to take over Asia and the outbreak of war in Europe in 1939 tensions were beginning to rise. America wanted this to be a European problem and not to make it an American one. One
World War II left a deep-rooted impact on the lives of the people that were fighting on the front lines of the war and the ones serving on the home front. The relationships and perspectives of Americans changed after the war from previous believed truths to a modern idea of what life could be, or how their lives have recently transformed. Because of the distinctive oppositions experienced by those of who endured the bleak and torturous years of the war. Moreover, they now understand the circumstances from which they had bravely overcame and conquered.
During World War 2, there are many big events that took place and still affects the world today. One main event that really changed America was the draft, where the United States instituted the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, which required all men between the ages of 21 and 45 to register for the draft. This drastically transformed the lives of almost every family in America, and to execute our skit we decided to do it on the draft. The main focus of our skit had to do with how war and the draft modified the emotions of the person be drafted and the families. We achieved this by adding the interviews to show how the person was personally feeling, and yes, we did have an addition of a “joke” interview as me.
The article discusses the social changes that came with World War two. Women and Native Americans started working, taking jobs from African Americans. Thus, Roosevelt issued the FEPC to expose racist practices and employ minorities and migrants. As civil rights become more of an issue, discrimination increased. Japanese were sent to internment camps, Hispanics were attacked, and Indians lost their rights to vote. The NAACP, along with other African American militancy organizations, fought against this unjust treatment. Truman continued the campaign against segregation. He passed Executive Order 9981, mandating equality for all minorities. Legal inquiry to the Plessy doctrine and the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education trial started a civil rights
World War II was definitely worth it. If World War II would never have happened, moral, economic, and governmental problems could still be going on today. Such problems include, the American Great Depression, the Holocaust, and many more starting situations. Although there were an estimated 40 million total civilian and war casualties, without World War II, many key events in the world’s recent history wouldn’t have happened.
“The world the American people had tried to exclude after the First World War could not forever be kept at bay.” (The Great Depression and World War II;Kennedy, David). World War II began in the year 1939 and lasted until 1945. (history.com,Pearl Harbor) Many of the issues that arose during the Second World War was initial baggage from the First World War. The Treaty of Versailles was the reason why the First World War ended between the Allied Powers and Germany. (history.com). During this time, the United States wanted as little involvement with Europe’s controversies. Meanwhile, the United States did not know at the time that Japan was a threat to our country because of unresolved issues prior to Pearl Harbor. (history.com). The common denominator between both of our countries in this era was that we were both in financial crises. (Gilder Legrman, Institure of American History) The United States was suffering from the Great Depression and Japan was in a financial crisis. One of the reasons that the United States was not in favor of Japan was because we did not support their attacks on China. “The United States allied with China when Japan declared war on China in 1937” (Office of The Historian). “The United States responded to the aggression with a battery of economic sanctions and trade embargoes” (Pearl Harbor and the road to war, history.com). Japan was upset
One event can change the course of people’s lives. World War 2, for example, transformed the role of women. They stepped in to fill labor positions while the men were at war. Women soon realized they were capable of working as doctors, electricians, mail carriers and other occupations after experiencing it. That is when the workforce expanded for women. Another way World War 2 changed women’s lives in a less obvious way was the fact that, once the war ended and the men returned, women were under extreme societal pressure to marry the returned soldiers. Women felt like it was their duty to serve these men due to social norms. It was thought that these men, after serving the country heroically, deserved to have a woman by their side serving them
World War 2 was the largest war in the history of humanity. It was a global war with over 70 counties participating in it ; it lasted about 7 years, and caused over 60 million casualties. Battles of WW2 covered territories of over 40 countries. Surely it is the greatest war ever, not only because of the facts stated above, but also because it made a significant impact on the world history, the nations, the regimes, the influences, the economies, and many other spheres. This war caused the restructuring of boundaries of several countries, and it even caused the creation of new states . New revolutionary high-tech weaponry had been first used in this war, such as long-distance missiles, jets, and (most importantly) nuclear
The world has changed since that day, September 1, 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, the start of World War 2. There were many fluctuations in economic terms as well as the politics of some powerful countries in the world also started from there. This is a catastrophic world war between the Allied forces and the Axis under fascism. Although this war just lasted in 6 years, from 1939 until 1945, but almost every continents in the world are affected by this war, except Antarctica and South America, and the population of the world decreased significantly.
One effect of this was that ordinary germans began to think of the jews as not being a proper citizen of. This was encouraged by the nazis total control of news which was used for relentless propaganda against jews. Nazi controlled education which meant all kids were getting the same info as all the adults were meant that thought that jews weren't actual citizens like Hitler and multiple other people did. Basic laws were first taken away like the right to education and the freedom of employment. They also took away the right to own pets or a radio. Along with the laws they also started to not buy from any jewish stores so that they wouldn't make money.
