How Do Things Really Work On The Texas State Board Of Education

In the documentary The Revisionaries shows how everything really works on the Texas State Board of Education. It showed that the board should be made up of new members. This also shows a certain bias to specific ideas that question the beliefs of God. These are some of the examples that can be seen in the documentary.
The reason there should be a new set of board members is, throughout the film they really didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. If you have a important job that can affect a lot of people you should at least be capable of doing that job right. Which turned out to be the Social Studies textbook. With this textbook they were more successful with having what they want in that there and not with what is beneficial for students. This also showed that sometimes they didn't follow with some facts that were backed up with facts. Also not all the board members are on the same page because there was one scene where a board member was trying to speak but wasn't given the chance to. This frustrated him, although he is a member of the board he didn't get a chance to speak because the other board didn't want to hear what he had to say. For example, the head board leader said he is a fundamentalist Christian which means that he is all about God and spreading the word of God. This can cause problems especially since now a days not everyone believes in a God. What he seemed to be doing is secretly putting God in the textbooks which is not allowed. This caused issues with scientific education because it would go against his beliefs. This is why open minded board members would be able to do a better job than what Texas has now. They would consider all logics for the textbook and would make sure that there wouldn't be any problems with what the students are learning. They especially wouldn't try to push their own beliefs and religion in the books. The board would be considerate of all logics of science and would give the opportunity to let students see other logics that scientists have come up
