Over time, weapons used in military combat has changed significantly. Technological advancements have drastically evolved over the decades. They have completely changed the way society in today's era of time perceives war.

In World War I, militaries used the more "simplistic" styles of weaponry. These weapons were used strategically and made for a "face to face" battle. According to HistoryNet.com, examples of these weapons used include rifles, machine guns, flamethrowers, poison gas, tanks, aircraft, and submarines. All of these examples were relatively new during this era of time. When these weapons were used, militaries were physically fighting man to man, country to country. The downside to this method of fighting is that it would take may years to end. After actively fighting in a war for four years, WWI finally reached an end.

The second bombing, located in Nagaski, killed an estimated 40,000 people. The dropping of these atomic bombs resulted in Japan surrendering. Japan understood how influential and destructive these bombs were. After these events took place, people soon began to realize how serious and deadly nuclear weapons really are. Not only are they extremely destructive, but they can end a war fast and easy. They also leave radiation after they are dropped which causes even more damage and even more people

This means that the Japanese thought these weapons were exceedingly brutal and would wipe out everything, so they weren’t in favor of the bombs. They were already defeated from the power of these bombs and they couldn’t do anything after the explosions, and this was just not necessary.
