A person whom I have read about who had to overcome significant adversities in her life is Anne Frank. As a comparison, I feel as though Anne Frank and I are somewhat similar, yet also very different. This is why I chose her for this writing sample. She is someone who has gone through significant adversity in her life and has had both unlike and yet somewhat relatable experiences to myself. Anne Frank and I are in a very similar age group. She was in hiding for 2 years and died when she was 16. Which means she first went into hiding, when she was 14. This is where she faced her most significant adversity. She was 14 when her experience started and 16 when it was overcome. I am 15 years old, therefore, my age is between both of Anne Frank's biggest moments in her life. …show more content…
At a young age, around 8, my grandfather died. The majority of the family including myself took our times to mourn and then continued to build our lives. My mother, however, did not, she was broken. At the time, I remember being alone. I remember cooking for myself. I remember occupying myself. And I remember doing my studies by myself. During that, I didn't know what was happening, and I still don't know everything. I remember going to summer camp, being dropped off by a man I didn't know. It was boring anticlimactic, and again, I was alone. I was never any good at making friends. I remember being picked up from camp by my father, who at the time, I did not live with, and rarely saw. I was told that my mother went missing and that I would be staying with my father. Later I learned that my mother was doing drugs. And during the time she went missing, she was evading a warrant. I grew up living with my father, who at the time was living with his parents, (my grandparents), who I didn't get along with all that
Anne’s Belief of Survival Anne Frank was a Jew who had to struggle through the horrors of WWII. She had to hide with seven other Jews in a very cramped attic. While she was in hiding, she kept a diary where she recorded all her thoughts. These included her thoughts about her survival of the war. Anne went through periods of feeling good and bad but Anne believes that she will survive the war.
While growing up several deaths that took place within my family. Some I had no idea who the people were but can clearly memorialize the funerals taking place and the reactions of those around me. Even though I cannot recall any memories of my great grandfather, I can remember when he passed away. Everyone was gathered at my great grandparents' house in Kerrville,
In 1933, the nazi took power in Germany, which cause depression to a lot of people. At the beginning, Nazi defy the Jews, Gypsies, and the disabled. In March 1933, the first concentration camp was built and later on more concentration and death camps were made. A family named the Franks went into hiding with the Van Daans in Amsterdam. In “Anne Frank” the characters face adversity and conflict like man vs self, man vs nature, and man vs man that makes the “Diary of Anne Frank” a wonderful story.
Anne Frank has shown perseverance by adjusting her life when her family moved, staying calm when went into hiding. The theme of the diary of Anne Frank is “perseverance”and is shown through the character actions, thoughts, and words. Anne had to show perseverance because she had to hide in the Annex for two years. The characters actions show perseverance throughout the play.
Everyone goes through crisis some time in their life, but how should they react to it? It’s Simple, stay positive. Yes, sometimes it can be difficult to even think of anything good when having a lousy day, but looking for the good in things is always the right answer. There will always be a way out of a crisis in some way, so the best way to spend the time is to count your blessings and dwell on the positive. Like Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl, their response to conflict affected many people in the process. People can best respond to conflict by staying positive, because the situation can only get worse by having a bad attitude.
Think about being trapped in an attic for two years. Not being able to go outside, limited amount of food, never being able to get away from each other. This is what the Frank family,VanDaan family, and Dussel had to deal with in the Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Heroism can be defined in many ways but in order to be a hero in this situation you need to be brave, courageous, bold and fearless. There are a lot of characters who show heroism.
Survival is living on the hope that better things are yet to come in your life. Right now in our country people survive because of hope and the belief that people are good and they will help them out. People survive when they are homeless on the streets only because of the people who are good at heart and give them food or money to buy clothing for the winter. Gerta survived because of her family and friends. Anne Frank survived because she believed that “Despite all the evil going on in the world I still believe that all people are good at heart.”
My grandmother, who is the mother of my mom, passed away due to heart failure at the age of 87. Since I was 6 or 7 she had been living in our house. The reason for that was, my grandfather, that I was named after passed away a year before I was born, so she was alone, and she was starting to get old. Since she lived with us for so many years, she had been a very important figure in my life. I can honestly say that she was like a 3rd parent for me, and losing her, made me fell horrible and helpless. I witnessed how real death is because of her passing. Combined with puberty, my grief caused me to become depressed for a long time. As I’m looking back it sounds really extreme, but there were some days that I did not even leave the bed thinking that there was no point to our existence. Thanks to some psychological counselling however, I was able to overcome that mental
Do you know how to persevere? Do you know what it is? Well here are 3 people who absolutely know and show what perseverance is. First up, Anne Frank. Second, Milton Hershey.
Philip Emeagwali said ‘’ The hardships that in the past will help me succeed in the future.’’Anne Frank had many hardships during for two years in hiding. They had to hide in the annex from the Nazi. They were all scared that one day the Nazi will find them. For the two years they had many relationships.
Perseverance: steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Anne Frank is a perfect example of perseverance she never gave up even when she spent 2 years in the secret bunker or when she craved to be outside because she was going slightly crazy but she never gave up. Anne Frank is probably we'll known because she never gave up even when times were rough that's basically the definition of perseverance so she has perseverance even when she was starved of food and caught by the green police she still never gave up. And that perseverance inspires people to have as much perseverance as Anne Frank had.
I remember being in junior high and being a shy, awkward-aged young teenager. I remember how I would perform in my studies versus how I do now. I remember not even knowing how to throw a softball or what the difference between a republican and a democrat are.
I clearly remember the day I found out about my granddad's passing. I was at school. It was a normal, joyful day. My dad was planning on picking me up, but instead my friend's mom picked me up. He would not tell me why, but I did not think much of it. I remember the car ride to my house. My friend's mom would not tell me why she was driving me home; all she told me was, "Just know, Ryan, that we will be here for you no matter
There is one loss in my life that affected many aspects of my life for many years, the divorce of my parents. I was in barley entering the first grade and the tender age of five, soon to turn six, when my parents spent their last night as a married couple. I do not have many memories of my parents as a couple but I do remember the day my Daddy left. He was a policeman and I watched as his cruiser drove away from our family home. I remember my mom crying and not being willing to console me or explain to me what was happening. All I knew is there was a fight, my dad left, it seemed different than other times when he left, and my mom was crying. Everything about my life changed in the blink of a five year old’s eyes which is what makes this loss so significant in my life.
I can still remember vividly the day my mother passed away. My mother passed away at a critical point in my life when I was seventeen years old from a short term illness. She was sick for a week and I remember thinking this could be serious, however, my mother declined to go to the hospital because of the distance and financial hardship. I had loss my father when I was three years old, so my mother was a single mother. I have step sisters and brother, but I was not particularly close to them. Losing my mother was a defining moment in my life for it changed my life irrevocably. I was devastated, but I had to become strong, proactive and it spurred me to choose a new career path.
