In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird ,the author ,Harper Lee ,shows the positive for blacks and whites in the community if Maycomb county. Also the story shows a lot of negatives at times but why show the negative in things.
I think this Atticus Finch portray a positive way because the whole story is a big lesson on race and gender and how the people in the story and the reader how we should all be equal and that's how white in that white mistreat black people. And Atticus shows the way and tells us how we should treat each others with his wisdom and his kind heart. And f the reason I chose Atticus because he is the man that gives all the lessons in the story and teaches you how to act and when to act.I also will in fact choose Calpernia as my second choice for showing the positive in things It does not seem like it but she does in a teaching manner.

In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses characterization to express that passion and honesty are the keys to achieving social justice. Harper Lee presents the idea that passion is revealed when someone stands up for what is right even when others think it is wrong. Atticus’s character reinforces his passion when he goes against what everyone else believes. Although Atticus knows he will not win, he does his best to defend Tom Robinson saying, “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win” (p.101). Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird was published in the year of 1960, and is one of the few American classic novels awarded the Pulitzer Prize. The racism that is prevalent in many southern American towns in the 1930s is brought to life with profound imagery in To Kill a Mockingbird. There are several characters in the book, yet the true main character is the narrator's father, Atticus Finch. He is a man of great integrity and intelligence. A very heroic figure in more ways than one, Atticus possesses traits like being principled, determined, and, more importantly, he teaches others. When looking at To Kill a Mockingbird, one can see that Lee uses lots of description, dialogue, and actions to portray Atticus as a heroic individual.
Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, the importance of Atticus Finch’s character is to influence the way
Even though not everyone is always right, Atticus Finch is a genuine, moral literary character because he knows that you must understand a person and know them before you can judge them, instead of always trying to do what other people are doing or what they believe, he does what he believes is the right thing, and he teaches Scout and Jem important life lessons. To Kill a Mockingbird is a very compassionate and emotional book that explains important life lessons. In this book, the character Atticus Finch shows the reader different viewpoints of his life, which he teaches to his children.
In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus tells Scout that “you never really understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” He means that you would have to imagine yourself going into the person that is in trouble like you’re switching to another body in order to understand what problems they’re facing and how they feeling about the situation. In my opinion, Atticus is right. He is considered to be right because a person who doesn’t understand the situation properly would cause more conflicts to the issue, hurt one’s feelings or take a wrong decision like suicide or murder. They wouldn’t be able to understand the person’s feelings because they would’ve not felt that way like when Francis Hancock says that
I cannot necessarily say that reading To Kill a Mockingbird made a difference in my life, but I will admit it was a wonderful read. Growing up a young black woman exposes me to many images and events others wouldn't be able to bare. I am very informed on the racist past this nation a holds along with the racial discrimination that still goes on today. The novel ultimately paints both a positive or negative picture of relations between blacks and whites. The book realistically portrays two types of relationships between two different races. Those who have hefty "Southern pride" may be too quick to judge and might say the book is painting a negative picture, to them it's as if Harper Lee is mocking them and making them seem as villain. When in reality, Harper Lee is trying to focus on a positive picture, when she creates the character Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch is a white man who bases his life life situations strictly on morals, he does not believe in any type of discrimination. Harper Lee introduces Atticus because she's trying to prove that there were in fact some wise and fair white people found in the deep South. The purpose of this book was to shed a light upon all the racial injustices that go on in our
Atticus proved his abilities and intelligences, and he also cares for everyone equally. This novel is taken place during a time period where black people were mistreated and thought low of rather than white people. White people were thought to be more important
A Mockingbird roams around the neighborhood, what would someone do? They would most likely enjoy it because it’s doing nothing but bringing peace to everything around it. So what would make a person want to hurt one, nevertheless kill one? To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a book about a family that lives in an era during the great depression and racism, but in these times racism wasn’t considered “bad”.
Atticus Finch is the most honest man you’ll ever meet in your life, never gives one the advantage unless needed. He’s the towns most useful resource in any given situation. If anything needs to be done than Atticus is there looking over his well admired neighbors in desperate needs. Atticus may be looked down on by some for being Toms lawyer and almost guiding an african american to victory over a caucasian male in a court case. But he was only doing this because he knew in his heart that Tom was certainly not guilty, or possibly not capable of inflicting such harm on Mayella Ewell with a handicapped left arm.
Through all the persecution he had faced from the town, he kept his head high and fought for what he thought would bring justice. Atticus wanted Jem and Scout to avoid and witness the injustice the town faces. Therefore, in Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the character, Atticus Finch, displays a Christ-like heart of compassion, a justice seeking stature and the wisdom of a righteous man. Throughout the entire book, Atticus treated people with compassion and kindness.
It is rare to find a courageous and sympathetic person who is willing to stand against social injustice. In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus represents this rare hero. He is a lawyer and a single parent to his kids Jem and Scout. He understands that society should not be black and white and helps those who are mistreated. Not only does Atticus demonstrate acts of courage and empathy, he is also an excellent role model to his children. Atticus represents the qualities of a true hero by exposing injustice, and through courageous and sympathetic activities, teaching his children moral values.
Finally, Atticus is a good role model because he fights for equality. While some might believe that Atticus does not fight for equality because he could take on more cases, he does fight for equality because he is the only lawyer to put his all into defending a black man. Every lawyer that was assigned a black man who was falsely accused of charges in Maycomb simply let the man be convicted. They did not offer the basic right of a lawyer in court that they deserved. However, when Atticus was assigned the role to defend Tom Robinson, he saw that the man was innocent and decided to put all of his effort into defending Tom. Atticus went
