In the story Owl Creek Bridge a man is hanged because he is a confederate sympathizer. He’s talking to a scout and does not realize that he's is a federal scout. The story was somewhat suspenseful but did not have many suspenseful moments. One thing that was suspenseful was when he was standing on the bridge, about to be launched. Bierce used a lot of imagery to show the dire situation that the man was in. Bierce states in the text “The man's hands were behind his back, the wrists tied with a cord. A rope closely encircled his neck.” This line helps to create suspense in the story by describing that the man is in a sticky situation.
