According to Matys (2016), food theft is a social problem. Food insecurity is a result of poverty and low income. As the poor lacked of means to acquire food, risky coping strategies were used, for example, selling sex for money and food. In majority, cheese and meat are two of the items that were always stolen (Robinson, 2013). In general, capitalism lead to crime, social class exploitation and inflation leads to the food theft when it comes to explaining specifically. According to Tang and Lean (2007a), inflation would gradually reduce one’s capacity of purchasing in society. Therefore, inflation increases the rate of crime in long run. Proletarian require the least of power and money, so they can only use labor to exchange for the money
