A big similarity with rugby and football is the way you score. In rugby and football the players have to get to the end zone. Most players for the two sports run the ball into the end zone. Running to the end zone is how you score. The score differential is a little different, but for the most part it’s the same scoring method.
First I will talk about the players on teams and what each player does during a game, then I will tell you about the different positions of the field, and lastly on what a team will do on both the Offense and Defense.
The rules regarding how to start the game are as follows; there is a coin toss and the team that wins it gets to decide which goal it will attack in the first half and the other team takes the kick off. The side that wins the toss takes the kick-off at the start of the second half. In the second half, the teams switch ends so they are attacking the opposite goal. When a team has scored a goal, the kick-off is taken by the opposite team. American football, referred to as football in the United States and Canada, and also known as gridiron football or simply gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, which is the team controlling the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with or passing the ball, while the defense, which is the team without control of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and aims to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs, or plays, and otherwise they turn over the football to the defense; if the offense succeeds in advancing ten yards or more, they are given a new set of four downs.
Soccer, the most popular sport in the world, is called football in most countries. In America, “the world football refers to American football.” (Football vs Soccer, n.d). These two sports share the same goal: score more goals than your opponents to win the game. In soccer, “there is a net at each end of the field where the object of the game is to score a point by kicking the ball into your opponents’ goal” (Football vs Soccer, n.d). Football also shares this concept by having tow area on opposite sides of the field where one can score points by carrying the ball beyond the opponents’ goal line. Also, soccer and football both have eleven players on the field at a time, and both have the concept of having offense and defense. American football and soccer are mostly different, with some notable similarities. (Football vs Soccer, n.d)
In 1869 Football began to form out of the sport we call Rugby. Rugby is like Football and Soccer mixed together, but at the time Football didn’t exist. In 1904 a field goal was changed from 5 points to 4 then again in 1909 it was dropped once more to 3 and it still is at 3. In 1920 most of the teams kind of just gave up leaving only 4 Championship Teams Akron, Buffalo, Canton and Decatur.
Rugby and American football are two sports I really enjoy watching. You have the game of intense play with a complex strategy to score a touchdown and preventing the opponent from scoring. In addition you have another game that is very similar, making fast transition like in soccer trying to also score while preventing the opponent from scoring. When I watch Rugby and American football on television some of my friends ask me what are the similarities and difference from American football and Rugby? Football and Rugby have the same theme of physical play and score points.

Soccer is a sport played with two teams of eleven players on a rectangular grass field with a ball and typically lasts 90 minutes. The players wear shorts, a short-sleeved jersey, shin guards, long socks, and cleats. Of the eleven players, one is a goalkeeper and the remaining players are either playing defense, midfield, or forward. The goalkeeper’s objective is to stop the ball from going into his or her team’s goal. The other players, using only their feet, must dribble and pass the ball in order to move it up the field and attempt to place the ball in the opposing team’s goal. In the middle of both short ends of the field, there is a goal, one belonging to each team.(Swanson) The objective of each team is to place the ball in the goal of the opposing team to get a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
I was dreaming of becoming a rugby player. A game that is commonly favored by boys or men. When I look around and hear people talking and cheering. This makes me drive in or motivates me to be more interested in playing rugby. When I hear people cheering, I imagine what would it be like if it was me they are cheering. So I decided to play rugby. What brings me into this is just seeing how we have this greatness and strength I ourselves, specially referring to myself, I’m quite amazed of having this factor in sports.
`Authors Note: I am upset because my favorite team in football, the Dallas Cowboys, has lost their last game against the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 35 to 31. The Cowboys had a chance in the dying minutes of the game to score and win the game. This fanfiction is going to be a bizarre twist on the of the last two minutes of the game with the commentators' speech. The commentators' names are Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. I am also going to change the magnitude of the game to the winner goes to the Super Bowl so this is the NFC Championship game.
