Macbeth displays ambition by the way he talks and his actions over the course of the play. Ambition is a strong desire to do or achieve something that takes hard work and dedication. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth has strong desire to be successful out on the battlefield and also in his pursuit to take over as king. Macbeth’s ambition is detrimental to himself and that is shown throughout the play. Macbeth’s strong desires and aspirations end up hurting him after all and the bad things he had done eventually catch up to him. Macbeth’s desire to become king and take the crown from King Duncan ends up hurting him more than helping him. Initially, Macbeth was against murdering King Duncan and didn't think he could do that to his very own king. Lady Macbeth believes that her husband will not go through with his plan however he does end up killing him. She states “Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full of of the milk of human kindness. The night of the murder strange things began to occur, Lennox explains the strange things going on around town: “The night has been unruly. Where we lay, our chimneys were blown down and, as they say, lamentings heard i’ th’ air, strange screams of death”. They start to question him and begin to see him as suspect in the murders of Banquo and King Duncan. Banquo’s son begins to plan attack on Macbeth with the goal being to kill him and take back the crown.
