Macbeth Essay

In the story “The Tragedy of Macbeth” written by the famous William Shakespeare that took place during the medieval times. Macbeth was given a prophecy of the future of him being a king by the three witches. He had internal problems on whether he should try and kill the king or not but with some inflections by his wife he agreed in killing the king. Throughout the story, Shakespeare portrays Macbeth as a character who has his own motivations and decisions but he is also very easily influenced by others such those three witches and especially his own wife.

Macbeth was a kind man who in the beginning would never think of murdering his own king whom he served; at least before he meets the witches. Before he was not very ambitious at all, he was very loyal even got name Thane of Cawdor. It was when the three witches gave him this weird prophecy about Macbeth being king did he start to become a bit more selfish. She received a letter from Macbeth saying that “ He got a prophecy from some witches and that he might become king, and that he might kill Duncan to make sure it comes true”. Upon reading this Lady Macbeth said,”Art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it.” She said that Macbeth himself does not have the will too do it he is still to kind and she was right. Macbeth at one point said,” We will proceed no further in this business.” Macbeth believed that “The king was given him glory and honor”. Lady Macbeth after hearing this was not convinced and insulted him by: calling him not a man, attacking his pride, or even saying if she says she is going to do something; she will do it. It only took a few words to completely change Macbeth from not killing King Duncan to murdering
