Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet is the definition of young love, its the story of two star-crossed lovers who both fall blindly in love. They both come from different families who absolutely loathe each other. Shakespeare’s play is a very specific type of love. Young, irrational, exhilarating and passionate. One of the ways the theme of love is portrayed is by showing readers how love is a secret. This is shown by using the conventions of dialogue, characterisation and plot.
Love being a secrecy is shown through the plot. The pair are truly madly and deeply in love with each other, that they decide to marry in secret. On the other hand, Juliet's parents decide to marry her to Paris, a handsome young noble prince. Juliet refuses

The secrecy of their love is shown through dialogue, An example is when Friar Lawrence says to Romeo “…Where thou shalt live, till we can find a time to blaze your marriage…” Friar Lawrence said this in reply when Romeo said “ …My conceal'd lady to our cancell'd love?…” This shows how Friar Lawrence is telling Romeo to wait so that he can figure out a way to publicly announce their marriage. Once again this shows how Friar Lawrence is the only one who is aware of Romeo and Juliet’s marriage. Juliet’s conversations with her father are very disagreeing. This is shown when Capulet, Lady Capulet and Juliet are having a conversation about Juliet marrying Paris. Juliet's response to her father is “Not proud you have, but thankful that you have. Proud can I never be of what I hate, but thankful even for hate that is meant love.” Capulet believes that his daughter is ungrateful for his choice of love for her. But as readers, we know that Juliet is not proud of whom her father chose for her because she’s already in love with Romeo. This dialogue is also expressive of how Juliet's parents are unaware of their daughters love for Romeo as she is keeping it a

The Shakespearean play Romeo and Juliet has many themes to focus on. One theme that seems to stand out more is the secrecy of Romeo and Juliet's relationship and marriage. William Shakespeare himself has used this theme in a somewhat positive sense, although the topic of secrecy may be wrong Biblically. My personal view also may be different entirely.
The truth of their love is based on secrecy. Secrecy kills. It has the strength to rip families apart and end lives. To begin, the decisions that Romeo and Juliet make are often based on their love for one another. Juliet’s decision to go to the Friar to find a remedy that ensures her everlasting love with Romeo shows the length she will go to be with him. Once her request is made obvious, the Friar is unsure what to do. The child has given him two options: help her or she will help herself. Juliet’s words to Friar are as follows,
Shakespeare does this by noting how Romeo and Juliet do not actually love each other. This is represented by Romeo and Juliets actions and rash decision making. Their decisions are very impulsive and rushed. As a result, it will impact them badly in the near future and as well as their relationship. Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other is not actually how we view love as. They’ve mistakenly confused love for lust.
How does Shakespeare present aspects of love in this passage? Examine the view that, in this passage and elsewhere in the play, Desdemona is presented as “a typically naive young woman whose love is little more than hero-worship.” In this extract, Shakespeare presents love in contrasting and comparative ways. One prominent portrayal of love is the love demonstrated by Desdemona over her fawning of Othello and her father.
Paris knows Juliet does not wish to marry him, yet this only makes him more determined to marry her as he sees Juliet as a prize, to show his superiority over everyone else. In today’s society, we would view Lord Capulet as a cold, unfeeling father because of the way he treats his daughter, but Lord Capulet is a prime example of Shakespearian fathers. His only wish is to make a good marriage for his daughter, but she rejects his help. Capulet doesn’t know Juliet has fallen for Romeo and so cannot be expected to understand why she doesn’t wish to marry Paris.
He threatens to disown Juliet if she refuses Paris; ‘hang, beg, starve, die in the streets,/For, by my soul I’ll ne’er acknowledge thee,’ before he finally storms out. Tearfully distraught, Juliet begs her mother to: ‘delay this marriage for a month, a week…’, but Lady Capulet remains unmoved, declaring: ‘I have done with thee.’
In the play `Romeo and Juliet` the writer William Shakespeare uses the theme of love as a main feature to push the story along. Presented are a plethora of variations of love including family love, true love and courtly love. This essay aims to analyse these three types of love chosen.

What is love? How many different aspects of love are there? The theme of love is a prominent subject frequently explored and focused on in the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. In this play, two star-crossed lovers fall into a forbidden love brought about because of the feud between their families. Their relationship has many unfortunate twists and turns that resulted in death and the resolution of the ancient grudge. In between the hapless events, love is presented in a variety of ways. Shakespeare does not focus on one specific definition of love although, those aspects expressed through vanity may be united to construct a generalization of the word love. Shakespeare presents to the reader the love to hate, love for family, love to assist others, and romantic love through various characters.
What is love? Is it an object? Is it a feeling? Is it even attainable? Love is everything, it is an object, it is an emotion, and it cannot be bought, stolen, given. Love can only be found. Love is discovered in the most unthinkable places during the most unimaginable times. It can never be predicted who you fall in love with or when you do but all you do know is that you are in love and you would give anything for that person, and for your love to always stay resilient through all other obstacles and distractions. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Montague’s and Capulet’s are know and expected to hate each other until the miracle of love presented its self. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. They both fell in love when
In 'Romeo and Juliet', Shakespeare portrays different aspects and types of love in many ways. The obvious love is the fateful love between Romeo and Juliet although the play also displays platonic love, maternal love and aspects of adolescent love.
How does Shakespeare present Love? Much ado about nothing is a romantic comedy. At first glance, it seems to be just a light hearted story about misunderstandings between two sets of lovers, but when we look more closely we can see that Shakespeare explores ideas about love in a more complex level. He presents the audience with two contrasting couples for whom love is far from straight forward; causing as much misery as joy.
The word love can mean many things. Love can be an object, emotion, and a life. However, love could lead to a loss of power, prosperity, and status. In the literary work “Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare, the readers are introduced to a tragic love story. In this play, readers are also shown the different perspectives of love and the many downfalls it could lead to. The central theme of this work is the recklessness of love. The theme is significant because it is shown throughout the whole story and it’s a strong force that takes place of all the other emotions and values. In this play, Shakespeare uses characters to present different aspects of love. In addition, Nurse, Mercutio, and Romeo completely show what actual love is and what it is like to lose it due to their experiences.
In the early stages of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare conveys love in many different ways. Love is shown as being imperfect, such as bawdy love, unrequited love and fatherly and maternal love, this contrasts greatly to Romeo and Juliet’s pure, perfect and requited love, and makes it seem all the more true before it is shown to be deadly.
