As a concern supervisor, Vera should have an one-to-one relationship with him by monitoring, communicating, making judgements, and providing feedback to him about his work performance. The best way to do this is to drop-in unannounced periodically. Also, Vera should have the other department supervisor to check on Daniel from time to time. Another way is to validate whether work in getting done is to have Daniel to keep a work log of activities done with beginning and ending times. This way Vera can get an idea of how much time is spent on each task.
