All in all, American society is established on the Western culture, yet America is a multicultural country because of the diversity of culture that brought by immigrants. Even though Western culture is dominating in America, Mexican and African American culture are a part of the social norm because their population are higher than Asian or the other minorities.
However, nowadays, the minority population is growing and influence the American society. Especially, Japanese and Iraqi are unique and are getting a spotlight from the American society. Many people of America enjoy the Japanese food, such as Sushi, Tempura and Mochi. Also the Iraqi food such as Kebab, Hummostahini, and Bakrawa are popular in America. The culture of the United States of America is chiefly of European culture, but it is influenced by many other cultures as well. In addition to Native Americans who were already living on the continent, the population of the United States was built on immigration from other countries. Since so many different kinds of people immigrated to the United States, America is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Practically every region of the world has influenced American culture in some way. The region that has influenced the United States the most is the English, who colonized America in the early 1600s. America is sometimes called the “melting pot”. This term is used as a metaphor describing a fusion of nationalities, cultures and
The early European explorers had a profound impact on the population and culture of early America. The moment that Christopher Columbus set foot on one of the Islands of the Bahamas, the world would drastically change for many of the Native Americans. The Aztec people of central and South America, or Mesoamerica, had a very advanced and complex society that they established in approximately 1428, that would undergo a transformation and descent from dominance that they could never have imagined. The arrival of the Spanish conquistadors and Christianity were the single greatest contributions to the fall of the Aztec Empire and the cultural transformation that occurred in the 1500s. This in turn led to the Spanish colonization of the Americas and the eventual transformation to the world as we know it now.
Firstly, America is a melting pot of many different cultures and ethnicities. The common background
During the 1400's Europe underwent through significant economic, cultural and political changes. American culture is in my opinion a mixture of all cultures in the world. In some states, minorities have become majorities because of the huge masses that have immigrated there. Those groups have integrated their own customs to Americans and at the same time, have made American customs part of their lives. In that enormous alloy called Americans, you can meet diverse kinds of persons, languages, foods and words. At the same time, specific traits make this culture as any other unique. The British writer Lesley Hazleton describes in the essay The First Game her experience when she attended a baseball game for the first time in her life. It was her first time visiting America as well and the way the
With the discovery of the “new world” in 1492, Christopher Columbus unintentionally set two populations into a cultural spiral. People indigenous to Northern America experienced vast changes to their societies that ranged between influences on medicine, trade, and architecture. The incoming European culture was also influenced by new products, practices, and concepts brought forth by natives. However, as Calloway analyzes the clash of early American cultures in his book, New Worlds For All, it becomes evident that resulting from this collision of peoples, European culture proved to be much more impactful on early American than indigenous cultures. Beginning with medicine, connections between local Indians and French explorer, Jacques Cartier, proved to be very influential on the European culture.
Any movie can have a romantic plotline, consisting of a picturesque town, a lonely woman, and forbidden love, but only one can narrate societal hypocrisies and social stigmas while paying homage to a classic Hollywood melodrama directed by a German-expressionism-influenced director from the 1950s. Enter stage right, Far from Heaven. Directed by Todd Haynes, this film, set in the 1950s, tells the story of Cathy Whitaker, a suburban housewife who seems to have the perfect life—until it starts to fall apart, and she has to learn how to keep her husband’s homosexuality and her personal infatuation with her gardener, an African American man, from affecting her flawless image and place in society. This movie was heavily influenced by the midcentury melodrama All That Heaven Allows, directed by Douglas Sirk, as suggested by the somewhat similar plotlines, but their similarities are heavily apparent in the cinematography and mise-en-scène. What makes Far from Heaven unique from its predecessor, though, is how it uses modernized topics in its storyline in order to unveil the hypocrisy of society and the Whitakers’ dysfunctional relationship.
The first human settled in America was about 12000 to 30000 years ago. American civilization experienced many changes as people of different subcontinent settled in to America. Before European came to America, American civilization was dominated by Aztecs and Inca civilizations. Later American civilization was restructured in many ways based on thoughts of European civilizations. European civilization has lots of influence on American peoples in terms of religion, livings, and others so there is many similarities and difference between two civilizations.
America has long been a multicultural and multiracial society. As a result of European immigration in the early 1900s,

The American culture is define to everyone in their own way. Everyone grows up differently in a particular community that shares the same languages, values, rules, and customs. The American Culture on that is consider to be a “melting pot”, because of all the different cultures that reside inside of it making it so diverse. Race in this country has never been a great topic throughout history. African Americans play a huge role into defining what our culture is as a whole, as well as being a part of racism for the past 250 years.
United States is an example of the diversity cultures, but the majority is the Hispanic culture. The Hispanic culture has been growing up so fast in this country that currently White Americans does not want them here anymore. Most of White Americans has been debatable about the theme of Hispanics because the fact that they do not speak English, get more jobs than the white people does, taking money that they should not, and think that the Hispanics are bad persons because they could be drug dealers.
In an effort to encourage the ideology displayed by Coach Joe Kennedy, Matt Calkins expresses gratitude and respect towards him throughout his article. Although Coach Kennedy does display rebellious features in his denial to district orders, Calkins assures that this is effective for the children as it teaches them about courage and it shows that it is okay to stand up for what you believe in. Calkins acts as Kennedy’s lawyer by showing the innocence and constitutional rights associated with his actions. Conjointly, Calkins cuts deep emotionally and reaches out to the great majority through his repetition of the words “Joe can coach my kid any day.” Along with emotions, this incorporates a personal connection to the coach because he is impressed
American was dominated by the image of the melting pot that “melts up” all race differences and cultures to become on American culture. The ideas of multiculturalism started at the end of the nineteenth century and turned into the concept of cultural pluralism that defined the nation as a mixture of diverse ethnicities with different cultural backgrounds, all co-existing and contributing to the new nation.
Firstly, diversity is the greatest capability which adds all different flavors in that society. Different religions, lifestyle, background and values are coming together and building new unique culture. Each person brings experience and thoughts. They want to have something also they have some perceptions which they don’t want to have in their life. Because of that in my opinion United States is the country which is not attached to the fixed culture. But, it is culture like a growing child. It changes to the best side according every evolution. In the United States different religions also irreligious people are able to live together without any problem and
