After 9/11, the world as a whole took a turn. All of the sudden, we looked at the world as a scary and unsafe place. Why was our world becoming this? How was our world becoming this? What could be done about it? That is when Bush decided that he was going to change something to make sure that we felt safe and secure again in a place we all call home. “The NSA's broad data collection programs were originally authorized by President Bush on October 4, 2001” (ProPublica). Our government made a change immediately, only less than a month after September 11th, 2001. But only a short three years later it was found that the program that Bush had put into place has been illegal the entire time. He tried to fight, but he backed down quickly and let others …show more content…
Security and surveillance on the internet and phones weren’t the only things that changed after 9/11. Security in airports changed, tourism changed, immigration, and most of all trust in the government changed. Now before 9/11, airports were something that people could walk through, people could walk their loved ones to their plane and watch them take off and return back to their car. Today, there is security and loved ones have to have a great reason to walk to the plane. I think that security in the airport is a great thing, but if you think about security in DIA is far into the process of checking in and getting to a plane. Someone can check in, eat food, shop, and hang out, until they even reach security. That gives people a huge chance to walk in with a gun or bomb or anything and scout out something. So really, security is only keeping planes safe. Which is only half of the process, if airports really want protection, they will think of something of how to put security at the beginning of the process rather than in the middle of it. At the end of the day though, airports have has a lot of success in their security and have had minimal attacks since …show more content…
Presidents wanted to stop immigration because of the fear that they didn’t know who was coming into our country. Over the years that has obviously changed and tourism has become popular again because we as a country have regained trust in our government and immigration has many laws and guidelines to keep our country safe. I do agree with watching how much immigration came into our country and how much remains to go into our country. It is a scary thing that it cannot be controlled, how does one watch every person who comes into our country? They don’t, it’s impossible. We have to trust that they are here for the right reasons and are safe. I will admit that as a tourists to some places, it is still scary. It’s scary to go to an unknown place and think that they have good security there as
There have been many turning points in American History; however none have the same effect as September 11, 2001, and many Americans relate the day to the country’s loss of innocence. As a result of 9/11 many American’s lives were affected emotionally, physically, economically, and politically.
The first major change that took place after 9/11 was more security was created. For example, the screening that happens now wasn’t as intense as it is now. It seems as if you are stripped from everything before entering the security screening process. Prior to September 11, 2001 you only had to show you’re identification card. You were even allowed to carry on knives and scissors. Although I do not remember this because I was only 4 years old, but my mother told me that only a curtain was used to separate the area of passengers from the pilot. Now, at every checkpoint you are asked to show you’re identification. We could board the planes without removing clothing, shoes or belts, but now you have
September 11, 2001 was an unforgettable day when many people lost there lives and sadly, airport security failed at three different airports. Airport security is a big deal all across the country and we depend on the use of the security for the safety of our own lives along with the others around us. There were many attacks throughout history that helped the airport to see what there weaknesses were, which helps strengthen their current security systems. 9/11 was a big impact on the world and caused grief to many families, but all that grief could have been avoided if they were caught in the airport! Airport security went from relaxed to strict very quickly. There were many changes in the security before 9/11, during 9/11, and after
As Americans, we the people, as well as our nation are built on past events that have occurred. Sometimes our moods are even based on occuring American events. Currently, some people are ecstatic while others are heartbroken or mournful that our 2017 president-elect is Donald Trump. The election has already dramatically changed and shaped people not only in America, but in countries all around the world. My grandpa is seventy years old and has shared with me three american events that have shaped him into the respectful, thoughtful man he is today. He has been truly touched by meeting John F. Kennedy, the outcomes of the Vietnam War, and the outcomes of nine-eleven. People from different generations see America's identity, as well as their
While 9/11 was a very important moment in the lives of many Americans, not many realize the direct impact this tragedy has had on their lives, and their country. For one, 9/11 greatly changed America’s involvement in wars. It also completely changed the way airport security works in America. Finally, 9/11 caused the American government to begin collecting significantly more data from its citizens, something which has been quite unpopular with the American populace. No matter how you look at it, 9/11 has left a permanent mark on America.
Since the events of September 11, 2016, many Americans want to know what the government has done or are doing to make America safer and is it working. After America endured attacks or was involved in war, the government made changes to attempt to make the country safer. Some of the most recent changes involve The Patriot Act and changes to our immigration laws. Before we can look ahead to the present, we need to look into the past to see if our government has learned from past bad practices or if they have indeed helped us become more secure as the United States has had its share of surprise attacks.
On September 11th, a tragedy happened when almost 3500 people died from a terrorist attack. One thing that did not change after this was the way America held itself together. Something devastating had happened but they still managed to push through it and come out strong. As well, the support that American's and other places around the world gave each other are still strong today. When someone is in need, we all come together no matter where they are in the world, this never changes. Lastly, people did not stop using airplanes because of this attack. They still continued to use airplanes to travel around
It has been fifteen years since September 11th, 2001, and the United States of America has changed since then. The cause of the crash was by the hijackers Osama Bin Laden and eighteen others that took control of four flights. On the morning of Tuesday September 11th, 2001 three aircrafts were headed to Los Angles California. Remember the hours after September 11th when we came together as one to answer the attack against our homeland. The time when the awful terrorists tenaciously hammered two American bearer planes into Twin Towers, not just conveying adversity to numerous families additionally the demise of numerous people. It was the most notice act that the terrorist has ever executed in American history. At long last awakening that america was never what it thought it had ended up. It has been ten years since the worst terrorist attack in the history of the United States. In the decade since the September 11, 2001 attacks, the U.S. has been entrenched in two ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Department of Homeland Security was founded, and Osama bin Laden, the alleged perpetrator of the attacks, has been killed. The Patriot Act and other legislation increased surveillance while decreasing our civil liberties. Here's a look at how the attacks and America's reaction to them still affect American lives today.
although some may argue for the 4th Amendment, but the risks from terrorism were clearly outweigh any loss of privacy. ("How 9/11 Changed America: Four Major Lasting Impacts")
9/11 was what I chose as the most crucial moment in history. This is because it changed the lives of many and changed society as we knew it. People all over the world, not only America watched as the twin towers burnt down with shock. This event is something that will be remembered forever and referenced t in classes, in conversations, and in the media. It affected society greatly around the world. After these attacks, everything was different.
On September 11, 2001 one of the world’s most tragic terrorist attacks happened to the United States; Terrorist’s hijacked four planes and crashed two of them into the World trade center located in New York city the third plane crashed into the pentagon and the last one was crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania on a field. Many lives were taken away that day; because of this tragic attack different sparks of questions and conversations raised to the surface, mostly bad. There were many questions that involved America’s security, such as our airports, the amount of tourism we had, and immigration we allowed in. People even sparked questions related to the government, such as, “Should we trust our government?” and “Was this a set-up?” Once questions about the government entered the air, American citizens started to think, if they should trust other countries into our state. I believe this topic can be very controversial because of the different ways you can look at this tragedy. I believe the United States of America was affected in so many ways and in all the research I have done my goal is to inform you on the many different ways September the 11th affected America’s security, our government and the American View.
How did September 11, 2001 effect people’s lives? Why should we remember? Who was the terrorist group? There are so many questions that we should ask ourselves daily and I hope this will help you better understand these ideas. The leader of the terrorist group was Osama Bin Laden. The group that he had created was from Audi Arabia and their group was Al-Qaeda. There were several other Arab nations involved within the attack of 9/11.
September 11, 2001 marked the most horrific day in history for United States of America. The events of this day changed the lives of those residing in America forever. United States was considered somewhat safe, in regards to terrorists’ attacks. However, this all came to a screeching halt when 19 militants known to be a part of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group hijacked four planes for the purpose of destroying targeted areas in the United States. As a result of the deadly attack on the United States, security measures drastically changed. Although, security measures throughout the United States have been in place, extreme caution came into effect. All departments looked at different measures to improve preventing terrorists’ attacks.
