Growing Up We all have accomplishments in life I just think mine changed me in a greater way than most. As a kid I didn't really care about many things especially school. The only thing I really bother to find interest in was probably sports and the way others thought about me. Then came a day where nothing really mattered to me but my academics. My accomplishment isn't a huge success to another but let me tell you something this actually changed my life around for the good. It surprised me in a way that it was just a small piece of paper saying honor roll can change me around. Yes the thing that changed my life was my first ever honor roll in middle school. Most people don't think the little things in life matter or even make a difference but yes they do. I can tell you that my first honor roll made me think about the future and the things I could accomplish if I set my mind to it. In the start of middle school I thought of ways to be cool and how to make new friends. As the year went by teachers start talking to me about grades and how I should really apply myself to it. I took that into consideration and tried just a little harder in all subjects. Then came a time in middle school where it got hard for me due to the fact …show more content…
I wasn't really doing anything to help myself success because I was to caught up in the moment of high school fun. I was so distracted with late night football practice that when I got home I wouldn't do any homework. Once again my grades went low but this time it was my girlfriend who told me I should start getting my things together. I quit football and started focusing on my education. I honestly think that was my best decision due to the fact that I went from a D student to an A and B student. All I wanted was to get that honor roll once again and I think that is what's making me try my hardest for the past two
My first failure discouraged me to the point where, I felt like I would never reach an advanced math level again. The lack of self-confidence that resulted from my sub-par math scores soon began to negatively affect some of my other classes. I quickly realized that the trend had to stop. I worked diligently to achieve what, at the time, seemed unattainable. My change in the outlook of my repeated failures helped me to finally succeed. Throughout the course of the last two years, I have grown more self-aware in my study habits. I push myself even harder when I think I have done the best I can.
An accomplishment that set my life forward and taught me multiple traits and allowed my character to develop would have to be when I set out, got a job, and saved up enough money to buy my first car. It was a summer I'll always remember. After my sophomore year of high school I set out during the summer and got a job at Glidden Fence Company. I was nervous not working at all previous to working at Glidden and started wondering whether I had gotten too far ahead of myself. I was assigned to a three man crew and started my career as a fence builder, the crew leader was super nice to me and guided me in every step as I began to learn how to do it myself. So long story short I threw myself into a foreign environment unaware of what the
From the start of high school, I have driven myself to be successful. Not only to make my parents proud and get recognition from colleges, but also as goal for myself. During freshman year I was awarded the Golden Hark Award for demonstrating positive leadership skills. Additionally, I have gotten the highest honor roll every semester of high school, and currently have a 4.021 cumulative GPA. Throughout my high school years
My accomplishments really date back when I graduated from high school. As the youngest of four, you would think I had wonderful romodels guiding me throughout my life and making it easier for me. However, that was not my case. I was actually one of 3 that graduated from high school from my brothers and sisters, and the only one that got accepted to a university. I am now happy to be a jr. at UTEP and be a ro-model from my nephews and nieces. I guess all those challenges really worked in my favor.
My biggest personal achievement I am most proud of would be getting selected for my district's Middle School Pathways Program. It is a program in which 7th graders are taught the 7th and 8th grade Math curriculum in one school year, essentially preparing them to take Algebra 1 in 8th grade. As a B grade student in the 5th grade the requirements of the program; a 6th grade math teacher recommendation, a Math grade of A, on all trimester report cards, and a score in the top 10% on the end of year 6th grade district benchmark assessment, the idea of being selected seemed a little close to nearly-impossible. Even though the chances seemed little to none I set a goal to be accepted and I was able to follow through with it. The reason as to why
My grades were going down beacuse I always got home late from practice. I was so occupied with baseball that I never focused at school. “How can you play if you can’t focus during scool.” This time, my dad said it in a depressed way while walking out of my room. He got tired of raising hs voice. I looked at myself in the mirror and promised to fix myself, day by day, to become an example of being a student athlete. The following day, I took a lot of notes, asked questions, worked with my teachers after school when I needed help, and I never fell asleep before completing all of my homework. Things immediately picked up with my grades and baseball. I still carry out these habits until now. With all the hardships that I have been going throughout my highschool career, my work ethic is still strong. I continue my endeavors to become a star student and an outstanding baseball player, even if my schedule is full. As people had brought me down in the past, I am now grateful of their opinions. I was able to stop slacking on what’s important. I learned that life has given me obstacles so that I would be the prime example of what I promised myself to
Every individual comes to a point in their lives during which they reach a tipping point between adolescence and adulthood. I happened to reach that tipping point when my mom told me the story of how our family got to America and to the position we are in now. Before I heard this story, I used to complain about small issues all the time, and take important things for granted, but after hearing the story, I am extremely thankful for how we are living and all that we have. I felt like a changed man due to my family's past and it gave me unbelievable amounts of determination to work hard and to become successful in the future, not only for myself, but also so that I could make sure my family would never be in that situation ever again.
My first goal is to graduate from high school on June 3, 2017. I have been on the honor roll yearly of high school, so I plan on graduating with distinguished honor roll. After graduation, I plan on attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2017. I am going to college for a dual certificate in Early Childhood Education with Special Education. While in college I plan on participating in a study abroad program, in hopes to learn more about other countries and their cultures. I am interested to see how the education differs from the United States and other countries, this will improve my knowledge of education and help me in the future with a career in this field. This could set me apart from others when applying for jobs.
School has never come easy to me, and since I was in 8th grade I have worked hard to maintain my GPA and to be the best student that I could possibly be. Growing up I was never in any advanced classes like ELP, but in the past few years I have been taking more difficult classes in order to challenge myself to become a better person and to have more opportunities. Being accepted into the National Honor Society would be the realization of all of the hard work I have done to do well in school.
Throughout middle school and the beginning of high school I faced many challenges with my grades. These challenges made me grow and help shape who I am today. In my early teenage years I would view my school work not important. My perspective on priorities were all wrong. As I became older and matured I realized that. I realized school is the most important thing because my future depends on how I do. I realized if I want to go to a good college and have a successful career I have to work hard in school to get there. As high school went by my grades got better and I saw a better version of myself. My grades went from C’s and D’s to A’s and B’s in all my classes. I began to be attentive in class, and be productive and take notes. I did my school
Growing up, I’d always been expected to do well in school. Which isn’t out of the ordinary, every parent wants their child to be successful and have a beneficial career. So, since good grades were what my parents expected that’s what I got. All throughout elementary, I strived to do my absolute best in every subject. At my sixth grade graduation I was awarded the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement, in my junior high years I did well as well. My eighth-grade year I achieved my goal of obtaining a 4.0 G.p.a. The first year of high school was nerve-racking but I still managed to keep my grades up. However, Sophomore year was definitely a bump in the road for me. In all my ten years of being in school (including head start and kindergarten)
I also received a couple of honor certificates in different subjects and this made me think to myself, “maybe I’m not so bad after all” It was such a big deal to me, because some of my friends and teachers had told me that they didn’t really see any potential in me, and always compared me to my siblings. I proved them all wrong, and also made myself proud.
It is interesting how sometimes it is he smallest decisions that can change your life forever. For me it was deciding to enter a submission in the VFW Voice of Democracy competition that changed the course of my life. Achieving success in the contest and the opportunities I experienced afterwards led me down a different path than I first planned and was a call to action to pursue a career in public
Over the course of my life I have had many life experiences which have made me who I am today. When I was in my middle childhood, most of my life revolved around playing and having fun. I did not have to put forth effort in hardly any area of my life or work hard in order to achieve specific goals. As time went on however, my own life experiences began to have an effect on me, and shape the person I am today. My life started to change the most during middle childhood when I was around the age of seven years old. At this point in my life, I had to adjust to several big changes.
Throughout my education, I had so many challenges I had to overcome. Dealing with school, personal life, and sports. Dealing with all of these problems has shaped me up as a person. I know now how to work for what I want, nothing is handed to me in life. That is something everyone needs to know, and now I know.
