When I first applied to college I only did so because I knew I needed a place to live. I could not stay at my home and college seemed to be the best option. I had no idea what I actually wanted to do with my life. I ended up switching my major every semester trying to figure out what I wanted to actually major in. In the end I got my associates of arts, but still had absolutely no idea on where I was going in life. I first starting thinking about going into psychology when I worked in retail. The idea has always been in my head, but it didn’t click until I was working as a manager. After taking two years off from college I made the decision to go back. When I went back to college I was focused and driven. The change in myself was almost shocking. I knew what I wanted to do with life, and nothing was going to stop me. I enjoyed my classes and made school my number one priority, everything began to fall into place. Going back to college proved that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. I knew I was not happy working retail, so I found a summer job working with individuals with disabilities and fell in love. I was excited to go into work every day, I enjoyed it so much I did not think of it as work. The program was designed to teach the kids math and reading and it was something I became passionate about quickly. When the program ended I applied at Opportunities Unlimited. I currently work there helping four women learn how to live independently, it is the most rewarding
