An artifact from my life that is important to me is a poster me and my parents made when I was in kindergarten. When I was in kindergarten, my favorite things were tinker bell and the color pink, so we got pink poster board and tinker bell stickers, it also had pictures with my pets, me, and my parents too. This poster is valuable to me because, because it has a lot of memories from that time and I just don’t want to get rid of it. Another reason it is important to me is because, it was something me and my parents did together, and since I am getting older we don’t do that kind of stuff anymore. In conclusion, this poster is very important to me because it takes me back to when me and my parents were always together and when we had fun. Another artifact I have that is important to me is a blanket that my Grammy made for me when I was born, that I still have. The ‘blankie’ was green, yellow, and purple with square patches that had little figures on them like teddy bears, and dolls and other toys. It is meaningful to me because, it is something that I have had my entire life and nothing could replace it. Another reason it is important, is because my Grammy made it and I don’t see her often because she lives in Florida so, I keep it around to remind me of her. In conclusion, this ‘blankie’ is really important to me, so that is why I have kept it around for so long. …show more content…
It is a rose gold Iphone 6s, with and case that is clear on the back with black around the edges, I have had for a year and drop it down my stairs almost everyday. It holds importance because it is how I communicate with my grandparents, parents, and friends. Another reason it is important is because, it has all of the apps I use to talk to my friends, and it contains memories, like pictures from other activities I had done. Lastly, my phone is a very valuable object to me and contains things in it that I also
In the essay “What To Bring” by Naisha Jackson the immigrants chose certain items to bring to the U.S. to remember where they used to live, for example the immigrants brought photographs, religious items, and little pieces of what means most. “Most Immigrants arrived by ship and were allowed only 1 suitcase and left almost everything else they had behind.” This supports my topic sentence by showing that immigrants have a small amount of space to bring with them to the U.S. so they bring what they think will remind them of what life they had before immigrating. “Remembrances of old lives take up immigrant suitcase space, too. Things that have been in the family for a long time help new arrivals feel more at home.” This also supports my topic
Humans struggle their entire lives to find affection that satisfies them. We assign this affection to objects that we obtain throughout our lives. An engagement ring, for example, is a large meaning attached to a small object. While it still has quite a high expense, women care more about the man who it’s from than the store, well, hopefully. In Akiko Busch’s story The Uncommon Life of Common Objects, she explores the objects her two sons, and people in general, become attached to over time. There’s a certain box she brings up and says “Sometimes the little box had value, sometimes it had none, and its worth seemed to come and go, by pure chance” (1). She discusses why certain things are worth more than others and why certain things have more
I have had many possessions precious to me, but non-mount to the only thing that I have had since I was born, my baby blanket. The blanket has gone through life with me, been with me through it all. This blanket is my childhood; it means the most to me and it is the memories I couldn’t bear to hold. Though it’s a torn up piece of fabric, I could never let it
What is a childhood memento that most people keep? Among the many toys or gifts, security blankets are one of the most common objects that are stored when people grow out of them. The one thing that was given to me when I was young still holds dear to me: my baby blanket. My blanket has been with me throughout my whole life. Although it seems like an ordinary object, it came from an important figure in my life, and having it with me constantly caused me to almost lose it, but luckily I was able to find it, and I still have it to this day.
There are many items that I have in my possession that make me feel accomplished or an item that I use just daily. There is however, some items that have absolutely no idea why I have, and continue to hold on to them. For example, I still have a karate trophy that I really don’t pride, a computer hard drive that should have been thrown away, and some empty boxes of Run Gum. It’s either I don’t want it or I don’t need it, and these three items I really should not have, but will continue to possess.
I have another one I’d like to share with you. It is my television or TV. My TV is a smart tv so it can get on the internet. It is black and 54’’inches. One, of the reasons I chose my TV is because it shows who I am by what I watch. My next reason is because I can hook my computer up to it with a cord and see what I’m
The soft, flowing, vibrant, green and red material ran through my fingers as I slowly drifted to sleep. My most important keepsake that I still use every might is my Christmas blanket. This blanket was always wrapped about me anytime I was scared, worried, and even happy. My aunt had given it to me for my birthday in July even though it had a Christmas theme to it. I sleep with that blanket every night because it reminds me of home in New York and because of the memories I remember. I remember the day of my 10th birthday, my mom was in the hospital for 10 days and I was so scared that something worse would happen then what already did. I stayed with my mom for those 10 days and put my blanket on get thinking maybe it can help her, and then she got better and I kept the blanket as a sense of
Hip-hop artist Joey Bada$$ once said, “They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. No, one man’s clever, one knows no better.” Joey couldn’t be more right, when it comes to him saying those words. This paper is about how I came to posses my Grandmother's old fur coat along with her luggage bag and why I treasure them deeply.
I’m not sure if my fandom is considered a fandom, furthermore I’m not sure if my artifact is a real artifact let alone an artifact for my fandom. I have chosen to bring in a picture of my grandparents after a long debate between cd’s, movies, artwork, books and etc. Being that my grandparents are partially responsible for my fandom today only made sense that I presented there love. I’m a enormous fan for true love, my grandparents represent true love in my eyes. We all will have opinions on love along with the different meanings of happiness, nonetheless my grandparents have been together for 50plus years and it wasn’t always happy times. They had a great deal of hurt throughout their journey but it's always been loyalty and to me love without
When a little kid gets a teddy bear, a toy train or a doll from a special time or a special someone, it can become a part of them. Some kids carry a teddy bear or doll until it is falling apart and missing eyes, but no matter what it looks like to others, it’s still beautiful to them. I have things that are important to me, because my Grandfather that passed away gave them to me. These are things that I keep as a memory and no matter how old they get or how old I get, they are always going to be special to me.
Objects have a powerful influence in our lives. Upon looking around at all my possessions, one pair of antique Everlasting leather boxing gloves, sewn with black thread, with half a glove torn off, brought back a memory in which changed the way people viewed me.
Richard Rogers’ song “Favorite Things” talks about how the narrator’s favorite things make them feel better when times aren’t the best. People often have a memento from childhood that they keep throughout their life, such as a stuffed animal or a tea set. These possessions represent a memory or event from one’s life -whether it be from early on or from later in life- which in turn remind them of the feelings from the times they received it. These tokens from their early life often mean the world to them, and this is an accurate description of how I feel about my “Blankie.” My blanket is a source of comfort, every small imperfection has a memory behind it, and these impressions make the blanket unique to my life and my experiences. While most of the details that reside on my blanket are small and often remain unnoticed, each one makes it more important to me.
When looking for an artifact I first asked my grandfather. When I asked him I found out a lot about my family history like how my great grandfather was in the Olympics which lead to the fact that when around 1953 the trend was to collect pins and place them on a hat. The artifact I found was pins from a collection of different sports events in the Olympics that mark wins and teams competing in the olympics. Looking and researching these pins I have noticed how valuable they can be. Some history behind these pins is how they all represent some countries and the times they were in the
Thank you for choosing our school to select three artifacts for a time capsule that will be taken to Mars on the next Space Mission. Each ninth grade student has chosen three artifacts for the time capsule. The three artifacts that I choose for future generations is a mobile phone, the American penny, and the New York Times Newspaper.
People have events, people, places, and items in their life that are important to those people. These people can have a birthday party that meant a lot to them. A family member may be important to that person. A belonging such as a photograph of their friends. An old house that they used to live can hold significance to them. These can also hold memories for people. It can also help them learn from having experiences with other important people, objects, locations, and event. My trip to Japantown, San Francisco is an important event for me. My trip to Japantown, San Francisco holds a lot of significance because I went there all by myself for the first time, and this showed that I could do something on my own.
