Hamlet is a play written by Shakespeare, portraying the life of a tragic hero Hamlet. Whom initially wanted the revenge for his father death, but dies after he pays revenge. Hamlet is a vengeful but pathetic character because his father was murdered and his mother was remarried to his uncle which is also the new King. All the sorrow and anger he has lead him on a path to revenge on old hamlet’s death violently. I feel sympathy for him as he is persuaded to pay revenge and he dies because of Claudius’s gimmick. Hamlet does not deserve the death of all his loved ones.
Macbeth, a play also by Shakespeare, is connected to Hamlet because both Macbeth and Hamlet are tragic hero. Macbeth was driven by greed and evil temptation from his wife and witches.
Instead of Macbeth being Thane of Glamis, he is a high-class chef of a well-renowned restaurant in the middle of London. The environment in Shakespeare Retold has changed from a Shakespearean era to the 21st century. Both Macbeth and Joe have high positions that will eventually lead to their downfall. Both the play and the film emphasize on the same values and they demonstrate how ambition and greed drive a human to their insanity and madness. For example, in Shakespeare Retold, Joe was introduced as a kind, jovial person who as a chef himself taught his fellow cooks how to properly make food. His desire to secure his throne, in this case, the main chef, made him disoriented and was breaking plates, and burning food, something he wouldn't do before. The loving aura changed and it was just filled with chaos, in which the environment was not a place where his workers wanted to be. The change of scenery from the kitchen to an ominous night was effective in such that viewers could see that it meant something bad was about to happened. Lastly, at the end of the film, the kitchen in a highly renowned restaurant was not as luminous as before. The lights were turned off by Joe, and this is where we could see that he was beginning to shut himself down.
Hamlet is as much a story of emotional conflict, paranoia, and self-doubt as it is one of revenge and tragedy. The protagonist, Prince Hamlet of Denmark, is instructed by his slain father’s ghost to enact vengeance upon his uncle Claudius, whose treacherous murder of Hamlet’s father gave way to his rise to power. Overcome by anguish and obligation to avenge his father’s death, Hamlet ultimately commits a number of killings throughout the story. However, we are not to view the character Hamlet as a sick individual, but rather one who has been victimized by his own circumstances.

Hamlet’s mother Gertrude didn't really seem to mind her husband's death and remarries. She marries Claudius, King Hamlet’s brother. Hamlet does not like that his mother married Claudius. Hamlet sees his father's ghost and finds out that Claudius had murdered King Hamlet. Hamlet decides to kill Claudius, but let Heaven take care of Gertrude. Hamlet accidentally mistakes Polonius for Claudius and kills him. At the end of the play Hamlet is dueling Laertes, Polonius’s son. They are dueling because Laertes is upset that Hamlet killed Polonius. Laertes has poison on his sword to kill Hamlet and hits Hamlet with it. Laertes falls over a staircase accidentally and dies. Gertrude drinks from a cup to celebrate Hamlet winning two out of the three strikes against Laertes but the cup was poisoned and she dies. he classic William Shakespeare has done it again with another drama filled play called The Tragedy of Hamlet. This story of Prince Hamlet takes place in Denmark where he is plotting the perfect revenge on his Uncle Claudius. Claudius murders the King whom is his brother to take his throne, and marries the Queen. Reading the play, I feel the most sympathy for Hamlet as a character because of the events that he has to go through. Hamlet feels truly disgusted that his mother has married when it has not even been a month since his fathers death. Let alone, marry to the Kings brother. The amount of pain and misery he is feeling results him in mentioning about suicide. He states, “To be or not to be: that is the question” (iii.i.58). Basically, he
Hamlet is a suspenseful play that introduces the topic of tragedy. Throughout the play, Hamlet displays anger, uncertainty, and obsession with death. Although Hamlet is unaware of it, these emotions cause the mishaps that occur throughout the play. These emotions combined with his unawareness are the leading basis for the tragic hero’s flaws. These flaws lead Hamlet not to be a bad man, but a regular form of imperfection that comes along with being human.
Treachery, murder, insanity, all make a play worth watching. Macbeth and Game of Thrones share many similarities, this is probably why they are both major successes. More specifically than parallels in themes, are the famous prince’s in those plays. The fundamental characteristics of Hamlet and Joffrey are parallel. Both have an unstable mental state that comes from their madness, both use women as pawns to suit their needs and treat them as inferiors, both cower from confrontation, and finally both experience the world in an existentialism mindset.

Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a tragic play about murder, betrayal, revenge, madness, and moral corruption. It touches upon philosophical ideas such as existentialism and relativism.
