When I was 10 years old, my mom and I went to Shanghai for a month and a half. Shanghai was very entertaining, it was very different from America in some ways, yet it also was in some ways very similar to America. Surprisingly, the most popular restaurant in Shanghai is actually KFC. The most popular part of Shanghai is on the other side of the river from all the buildings, known as “The Bund”. The view from the riverside was an amazing view, so everybody went there to see the skyline and take pictures. The metro station to go to the riverside was about 3 blocks away from the real riverside, so you had to walk through the main marketplace. Since this area was the most tourists visited the place, there were a lot of businesses and stores there.
I think one of the culture differences between China and U.S is privacy. Chinese people have a different view of privacy than Americans. They would likely to ask other people’s age, income, marital status, jobs and so on. Even though they barely meet each other, but they will start conversations talking about everything related to their background. However, Americans will think this is rude and annoying. Questions related to those are too much privacy. But in China this seems very normal. So they have a better idea about this person and know much about their background. And a lot of time I think Chinese care about someone’s background.
Sociological aspects of Eastern and Western culture have been discussed in both classrooms and professional business settings for hundreds of years. During this time, the social climate has advanced in a way that our two cultures have developed similarities. Along with this, the progress in ease of communication has created a sort of melting pot between both nations. One of the most apparent differences can be seen through a comparison of the youth in these societies, and more specifically, between the youth culture of the United States versus China. In this paper I will examine some of the broader distinctions between these hemispheres, their effects on the attitudes and behaviors of the members of these countries. In addition, we will
Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people which defined by religion, language, food, traditions, music and arts. China and US are two countries separated by oceans, language, and culture boundaries one typically thinks these two nations have nothing in similar. One might think that Chinese and Americans are totally different people, not only in their physical appearance but also in their customs and traditions. Although both cultures are different they both have something in common. These two cultures are different in traditions while they are similar in world power.
In the world today there’s a wide variety of styles of government. Some forms are obtained through brute force and the ill will of dictators. Some are formed from the election of the citizens of a particular nation, for example the United States. The main form of Government that the U.S. takes is representative democracy. This allows the citizens to be represented by a smaller group, which in turn greatly reduces complications when deciding things like voting processes. The other afore mentioned government would be authoritarian government. This would include dictatorships, communism, fascism, and many more. This form allows the government to be in almost or total control of all national process and procedures. Although the two government selections seem very contradictory, they do have some similarities.
There is an old saying in China: "two thousand years of history to see the city of xi 'an, one thousand years of history to see Beijing, one hundred years of history to see Shanghai."As the epitome of modern Chinese history, Shanghai has grown into a modern international metropolis. In the rapid economic development, Shanghai has not abandoned the traditional Chinese characteristics of the Shanghai culture, but instead has integrated the traditional folk customs and urban customs perfect. The bustling Shanghai is full of its unique cultural charm, and its internationalization, modernization, and time-style labels are also attracting more and more people.

Culture is the specifications and information about a specific group of people, distinct by everything from religion, language, cuisine, life lifestyle and more. Today, we are living in the world that have thousands of cultures, that we have less information about that. China and the United States are the two large countries in the world that they both have cultures which are good recognized through away the world. There are many differences between China and the United States, however, there are many causal factors that form the culture of these two countries.
The thing that surprised me the most was the similarities between the US and China. We are on completely different sides of the globe, yet we are so much alike. The biggest similarity I noticed was the cities. Also the pressure put of children to excel at school is the same, even though there is a bit more in China. Even the homes are similar. The biggest difference would most likely be the food — American Chinese food is not like real chinese food at all. Additionally people in china spend a lot of time with family. If I were to visit China I would want to go during the Chinese New Year to see all the festivities and traditions. Having learned about another culture, I would most like to see more countrywide tradition to become part of
Neil Shi has lived in Newcastle for years now, but before living in Newcastle, he lived in Nanjing, China. Nanjing is a busy town in the east of China, a place that is packed full of people, a place where there are always cars on the road and people on the street. Nanjing is a big place, with many shops, houses and its own version of a city centre. Here, almost everyone lives in flats, and there are narrow pavements and small streets everywhere. Now Neil was only three or four when his lived there, but he visits Nanjing almost every year, and he remembers everything about the place. “I can still remember the last time a visited, going out at night to the city centre. Those were some excellent nights out, gawping at the toys in the windows
When we first entered Chinatown, still on the bus, I saw many small shops, a lot different than Munster’s shops. When our group started walking on the sidewalks, I saw many markets with food sitting outside of the shop. I saw many stores that had signs with characters on them that of course, I couldn’t read. From outside of the shops, I saw many Hello Kitty items and Buddha items in the window. I loved

The United States and China aspire to command the world economy, but their lifestyle and standpoints look like east and west. When comparing the U.S. and China in Hofstede 6 dimensions model, there were four main dimensions that are strikingly distinctive. These dimensions include individualism, power distance, long-term orientation, and indulgence. Recognizing cultural differences is the first step towards understanding each other. The difference between the United States and China are pronounced, and they merit rigorous examination.
This year is my forth year that I has been studying in the United State. I’m already used to the U.S. culture and the U.S. living style. So in general, I didn’t experience any culture shock after I got here. If I had any culture shock, it’s probably three years ago. I couldn’t remember any of them. However I do have some thoughts about the differences between the U.S. and China after four years of studying in the United States.
I was born and I was raised in Shanghai, China, so I should have known Shanghai very well. But when some of my friends came to Shanghai and asked me that where they should visit in Shanghai besides those famous places, and I can hardly answer these questions. In most people’s mind, Shanghai is a city for shopping, not for sightseeing, because the history of Shanghai is not very long, and most of the tourist attractions in Shanghai are quite new.
