In addition he is the keeper of the paths by which the dead come to him. Hades (sometimes called Pluto) was the oldest of three brothers, who were Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. In this paper we will be hitting on the origin of Hades, the division of power between the three brothers, and what people thought of Hades as a deity overall (GreekMythology.com).

Zeus made to help Hades get his girl Prersephone (Demeter's daughter) Boy named Narcissus had been completley gorgeous and everyone wanted him but he had no want for them. One day he goes and looks at the rivver, sees his reflection and questions how anyone can campare to his own beauty ie. he was in love with himself. He then decided to die. The Nymphs could never find his body only a flower that they named after him.

Meanwhile, in Olympus the Gods see this happening. Zeus calls a meeting of all the gods, but as usual Hades does not show up.

In Greek mythology Hades is the god of the Underworld. He is part of the first olympians. He was in his father Cronus stomach until Zeus tricked him and freed his brothers and sisters. Once they were free they needed to wage war on Cronus, but they needed the backing and support from some other creatures to help fight the war. So the went to Tartarus the Greek equivalent of hell. When they were the set the Cyclopes free, in return the Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades all got magical items. Hades got a magical helmet that made him turn invisible. This would help in the war with Cronus and the Titans. Cronus was finally defeated when Hades got the jump on Cronus with his magic helmet and poseidon pinned him down with his trident. Hades was born on the island of Crete to Cronus and Rhea. When Hades was just an infant, he was devoured by Cronus to prevent a prophecy. This prophecy stated that Cronus would be overthrown by his children as the new rulers. Eventually, Hades and his siblings were freed by Zeus and Cronus was overthrown. Hades went on to become the God of the Dead and King of the Underworld.

He was the ruler of the mythological subterranean region called the underworld, which was inhabited by the “shades” or spirits of the dead. It was also home to dethroned or exiled deities who had been overthrown by Zeus and his allies. Hades and his brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, dethroned Kronos and the other Titans and then divided up earth among the three of them. The cattle died, the crops weren’t growing, there was too much sun and rain. Seeing this the nymph told the goddess what she saw. The goddess Demeter heard this and rode her chariot to meet Zeus. In the time of ancient Greeks many people believed in certain Gods and Goddesses and their mythological stories. Among the many gods and goddesses there was Athena, Goddess of wisdom, crafts, and war. Also there was Apollo, God of the sun, music, healing, prophecy, and poetry. Apollo’s twin sister Artemis Goddess of hunting and archery. Then there’s Poseidon, God of the ocean and brother to the most powerful God of them all, the God of all Gods, Zeus. However, there was only one specific God that mortals and even Gods feared, the brother of Poseidon and Zeus. He was the ruler of the underworld and the dead; he went by the name of Hades.

Many moons ago, there was a country named Greece. In that country, the people were very tired of all the heat, so they prayed, and prayed for a new season, that wasn’t just summer. When Apollo heard this news, he made it even hotter than usual in anger at the people. Then Boreas, wanting a child, said to himself , “Maybe I could create a daughter and make her goddess of winter and snow?”

The Goddess Persephone was a very beautiful and well worshiped goddess, she was loved by all, do to how she was very kind and caring as well as being able to bring warmth to the earth also known as spring. Persephone is the daughter of Zeus the king of all gots and the daughter of Demeter the goddess of the harvest. Indeed she was very beautiful, or at least enough to catch the eye of the ruler of the underworld. He then fell instantly in love with her and knew he had to have her. So he devised a plan to take her as his own. One day Persephone was picking flowers for her mother Demeter when she noticed a beautiful scent and decide to follow it. After wandering off from the field she looked up at birds fluttering and suddenly the sky began to

     Hades is one of the brothers of Zeus. He is the unlucky one who got to rule the underworld. He is cruel and unforgiving. Only two have ever gone to Hades domain and returned, Hercules and Odysseus. Hades fell in love with Zeus’s daughter and devised a plan to abduct her. With Zeus’s help they succeeded in the capture of Persephone. Her mother Demeter was so enraged she cursed the Earth. She continued the curse even after she was released. It was only after her mother Rhea was allowed to see her that she let the Earth prosper (message).

Nyx represents the night. Being born from Chaos she is among the oldest of the gods. She also resides in Hades.

Innocence, desire, and obsession are all facets in the story of Persephone and Hades. The arranged abduction broke a divine mother’s heart enough to affect the course of life on Earth forever. Persephone, or commonly called Kore meaning “the maiden,” was sought after by Hades, ruler of the underworld (Persephone 1). Hades enlisted Zeus’s help to abduct his daughter with Demeter, Persephone. Those events would become known as The Abduction of Persephone. This myth would become one of the most iconic and widely known in Greek history because it would explain one of earth’s most important cycles, reinforce the idea that the gods and goddesses have control of the earth, and fostered an agrarian cult’s religious rites.
