Personal difference and preference can impact organizational ethics is such a way where people can end up getting hurt. Personal difference and preference is one’s own way of how they think or how they feel about someone or something. (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011, p.563) This ethical dilemma will not just hurt her but others in the company as well and she doesn’t know their circumstances. Being that Valerie is unsure if she should report her boss she is worrying herself. She knows that their policy state, “Personal payments, bribes or kickbacks to customers or suppliers or the receipt of kickbacks, bribes or personal payments by employees are absolutely prohibited.”, so this is a dilemma that she should let go and reported. (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011, p.564) Ethics plays a big role in this dilemma because this was a time to determine the values and principles that differentiate if the boss is right for what he is doing or if he is wrong. There wouldn’t be anything that would justify what he is doing is right, but is there a way to determine if Valerie was right or wrong for not telling on her boss because he wasn’t following the company’s policy and she was aware of it. Valerie situation contain multiple ethics so that is why she shouldn’t be judged on the decision that she made not to tell.

One of the great challenges encountered in relation to organizational ethics is that of individual ethical values. Individual factors are essential in the resolution of ethical issues of concern.
The biggest dilemma that we as humans face in the work place is what we as individuals see as personal values may not be the same values that everyone else holds. We are each our own individual and we have all been raised in different cultures with different values. We all come together within the work place to not just do a job, but to try and work together with people that are different from ourselves. When we find ourselves in a dilemma that goes against our ethics, one has to ask themselves, “how does this affect my values, and does it affect our values so much that we need to report it to a higher authority”. “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” (Quotes About Ethics, 2012). Decision making and relevance of ethics may also differ for nonprofit and for profit organizations. In contemporary business environment, organizations must have a clear ethical policy and implement it in proper manner. There are many social, legal and economic outcomes that company has to face in case of any ethical dilemma, so there must be a smart strategy to deal with ethical dilemmas. In this paper, we will address the ethics for nonprofit and profits organizations, ethical dilemmas being faced or faced by each of these companies and the outcomes of these ethical dilemmas. Critique of actions of each of these companies will be provided from the point of view of applicable philosophical theories of organizational ethics.
In the workplace as well as one’s personal life is essential for ethics to be maintained; often taking the right action is not always the most popular choice. This could make conflicts arise between my professional workplace and personal ethical view because of differing perspectives on issues. My personal ethics govern how I behave and help me to navigate through ethical dilemmas. My professional ethics could be restricted however, because of a code of conduct put in place by my employer. A code of conduct states principles expressing responsibility, and defines rules expressing duties of professionals to whom they apply. (Pozgar, 2016) I rely on ethical theories including virtue ethics, utilitarian ethics and principles of ethics to make my judgements.
In today's world, individuals can make a single decision that can have a profoundly positive or negative effect on their family, their employer, coworkers, a nation, and even on the entire world.
