There were many historical events in the 2000’s, but none would get the public's attention like the iPhone. 2008 was the year when everything changed in the phone industry and revolutionized the way we see phones today. An example of how the iPhone affects society today is that it has set the tone for new products to come out with the release of the iPhone and made Apple a great example for a super successful business. While most people think the release of the iPhone may not have been as big as an event as people bring it out to be, it still is one of the most important releases of technology in the 2000’s and in the history of technology. No one before the release of the iPhone by the Apple company knew what a phone with a touchscreen would …show more content…
During the time no one has seen a phone released before that had so much new technology implanted in it. As Steve Jobs explained it, “The device was introduced as an iPod with a wider screen, controlled by touch instead of physical buttons. In short, it was a mobile phone and a device to communicate with the internet.” (“The History of the iPhone”) This is why the phone was so successful when it released in 2008. No one had ever had the pleasure of having a phone without a real keyboard until now. One of the most popular parts of the iPhone was the new features it came with it. Since many people before the iPhone came out had iPods, Apple thought it would be a good idea to sync the iPod to the iPhone so you have your old stuff. Apple also added other features, like the touch screen and rechargeable battery. Like what Apple said, “They were technologies that would one day become commonplace across the industry but back then looked like science-fiction.” This is why the iPhone was so popular at release. (“11 years ago today, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone”) The thinking process of the new feature released with the iPhone took up to 3 years to make. After the release of the iPhone, phone industries had to really think of new ideas to keep …show more content…
Many phone companies had to use some of the iPhones technology. After the release of the massively popular iPhone, phone companies such as Nokia and Samsung had to think of new technology to compete with the iPhone. Like what iMore said, “He set up and knocked down the physical keyboard and the stylus, features that dominated the BlackBerry, Motorola, and Palm smartphones of the day. Then Jobs introduced the multitouch interface that let the iPhone smoothly pinch-to-zoom” (“11 Years ago Today, Steve Jobs Released the iPhone”) The iPhone was the reason for all the new technology implanted into the phones coming out months after the iPhone. The coming months after the iPhone was released it was obvious that cellular services like Verizon or Sprint were going to take off. They also had AT&T on their side, “AT&T had granted Jobs unprecedented power. He had cajoled AT&T into spending millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours to create a new feature” (“How the iPhone blew up the wireless industry”) After years of the iPhone, cellular services are still one of the most successful companies around and it all started from the iPhone. Even though there were many examples of technology during the 2000’s that were important, none were as important as the iPhone and especially the lasting effect it had on the
When Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone at the Macworld convention in January of 2007, a tidal change in the way users communicate with one another was unleashed. The phone, which combined the already popular attributes of an iPod with the traditional cell phone, was an instant success, selling millions of units even at the initially haughty price of $599 each (Vogelstein, 2008). The theory behind the creation of the phone was deceptively simple: combine an MP3 player with a Blackberry, camera, and regular cell phone operating on a sleek touch-screen controlled software system. Consumers were finally freed from carrying separate devices to perform all they tasks they now wanted to away from home. In one simple hand-held device they could take pictures, listen to music, play games, communicate with friends and family, and even surf the Internet. This one device changed the way that people began sharing information, allowing them to instantly access information anywhere in the world while also transmitting it just as quickly. The iPhone is now universally recognized and has become a cultural artifact in our times.
When Apple first released the first iPhone is had a basic set up for their users to understand the software, ever since the first iPhone became famous every iPhone after that has had the same basic structure of software, but after every new iPhone they release they also improve the speed processor and other problems they find with the latest model iPhone (under the hood).. A pro to the iPhone that had everyone waiting overnight for is the Apple 's iMessage, which allowed the carrier to see when their message was delivered and read by the receiver (under the hood). That was something Android and any other smartphone didn 't provide, it was the new and improved.
New top-end mobile phones such as the Apple Iphone are allowing a new class of mobile to emerge in the world today. Combined with its ease of use, rich design, and well-organized application system through Apple App Store makes the Iphone an appealing platform for development of other smartphones. The Apple IPhone was released on June 29, 2007 by CEO of Apple Steve Jobs (Honan). The IPhone offers many of the innovative features found on competing devices, but it also differs from other smartphones on the market.
Over the last decade, electronic-based companies such as Samsung and Apple have collaborated with cellular-phone carriers, and have studied the average consumer to find endless ways to improve the cellular phone. As a result, the smart phone was born. With their ability to provide users with instant access to communication, entertainment, Internet access, calendar, news, social media, and much more, the smart phone revolutionized and shifted the path of modern technology. In 2006, Apple began this revolution with their release of the iPhone. Being the first proper smart phone, many other companies attempted to mimic the unbeatable features and technology that Apple had included with the iPhone.
On June 29, 2007, Apple Inc. launched sales of the iPhone at Apple and AT&T stores across the country. Many hours earlier, enthusiastic customers lined up outside stores to get the first iPhone in their hands. The iPhone is more than just a breakthrough mobile-phone device. It is a strategy that may expand Apple's sphere of influence. Apple elegantly combined a mobile phone, mp3 player, and personal digital assistant (PDA) on the same machine characterized by its unique, innovative design.
Once again Apple has been the first to the market when it comes to new features such as the touch screen, which has helped to keep its competition at arms length. Like all other Apple products, the smartphone is seen by many consumers in the industry as fashionable and a must have. Also Apple’s online music store support has also been a huge lift to its smartphones, as consumers can download music and thousands of applications.
The iPhone proved the ability of the smartphone beyond businesses to everyday consumers, permitting users to gain easy access to email and mobile browsing. Unprecedentedly, consumers felt like their computer was mobile.
The iPhone was introduced in January 2007 by Steve Jobs after months of rumors and anticipation. Prior to the launch of the iPhone, Apple dominated the digital music
With Apple being so far ahead of their competition, the only problem one can foresee in Apple’s future is how long they can sustain such innovation before they plateau. Apple does a phenomenal job at releasing their innovative products before their competition, but if their innovation cannot hold steady, this may lead to changes in demand for their products considerably. This can be seen with their release of the iPhone, the first successful touch screen cellular phone. Although people swarmed to the iPhone when it was first released because of its advanced technology, as the years have passed, other similar designs, including those with android and windows based operating systems, have drawn a considerable portion of the market. A clear representation of Apple’s attempt to regain some of this market can be seen when the iPhone was released to Verizon Wireless’ customers in
The iPhone is very different from other smart phones because of its third-party development environment. Third-party applications make the iPhone unique, and the iPhone is an
Over the past decades technology has rapidly evolved. Society has gone from the analog era to the digital era. In the analog era we saw thing such as CD’s and Cassettes. In the day of the digital age CD‘s are almost fully obsolete. Modern day society has become more reliant on mobile phones. In the past if you needed a phone number you had it stored in your memory. Today, when looking for a phone number it is stored in your mobile phone. The biggest companies of the modern era all strive to push innovation in technology. Microsoft revolutionized computers and gaming with the release of their windows operating system and the Xbox gaming system. Apple is largely regarded as a pioneer of innovation the modern era. In 1997 apple launched the ground breaking IPhone. To date apple has sold over 500 million iPhones, single handedly revolutionizing the technology era. The war has now increased between Samsung and apple to see who can make the next ground breaking innovation. The digital age boosts the consumer desire to have a smart phone. In previous times an individual user would have a cellular phone and also have a MP3 player or anther device suck at a Walkman to play CD’s or Tapes. With the development of technology apple pioneered have an iPod and fusing it with a phone, resulting in the IPhone. A featured focus of technology today is the focus making things smaller and more efficient. Reducing the size of a specific aspect on

Portable music players were becoming more popular as the market began to move away from technologies such as the CD. Mp3 audio was an important leap for Apple. The 21st Century saw the introduction of Apple’s iPod line with the innovative wheel scroll, fashionable look and ease of use. It made the digital Mp3 market the easiest way to acquire music (either by downloading from iTunes or elsewhere on the internet) and bringing your music on the go. The introduction of the iPhone has been the main driving force of the company. The first introduction of the iPhone line started in 2007, combining the iPod product and the mobile network into one. Prior to this, mobile devices were able to perform all the basic tasks of a computer, however were very business orientated and had a steep learning curve which rendered them quite difficult to use. This resulted in a very narrow target market which included mainly businessmen and those who were already quite adept to technology.
While smartphones had certainly existed before the iPhone, Apple offered a better customer experience with its invention of apps as well as the use of technology.
Apparently, this came as a surprise to the Apple employees’ who were working on the iPhone-destined software apps, and to Steve himself (Sorensen). As a response to this, Apple simply created more devices free from Google's reach. In fact, the iPhone opened up new doors for many consumers, which really enhanced its fame (Sorensen). For the first time, consumers had a mobile device that made it easy to read books and magazines, as well as watch movies and television shows (Sorensen), along with enhancing efficient communication across the world’s geographical locations.
