Shakespeare has changed the world of literature, even 400 years after his death.
Though the childhood of William Shakespeare was normal for his time, he did not let that stop himself from being extraordinary. Shakespeare was born April 23 in the busy town of Stratford-upon-Avon, 100 miles from London (“William Shakespeare”). Shakespeare was born into the home of Mary and John Shakespeare, a middle class family (Lipson). Though his father started out as a glove maker, he later reached higher status by becoming the mayor of Stratford (Lipson). His mother did not have to earn her social status, instead, she was born into a family that already had one. Though both his father and mother were successful, they were noted to be illiterate (Lipson). Shakespeare, on the other hand, was far from illiterate. His studies likely began at a local grammar school , though there are no records stating whether he finished his studies or not (Lipson). Many believe that Shakespeare stopped his education in his early teenage years to begin work and help

Only seven months after Shakespeare and Anne’s marriage, May 1583, their first child, Susanna was born (“william Shakespeare”). A little over two years later, February 1585, Shakespeare and Anne’s second and third child was born. The twins names were Hamnet and Judith (“William Shakespeare”). Following the twins birth, there are no records of Shakespeare for seven years. There are many theories about what he was doing during these years and why there are no records. In the end, no one truly knows what happened, leaving scholars to call this period in his life the “lost years”. Only 11 years after the twins were born, and four years after his “lost years”, Shakespeare and Anne’s only son Hamnet died of unknown causes (Chanel). The feelings of love and loss he was put through is thought to have greatly affected his literary
William Shakespeare, one of the greatest authors of all time, was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom. The exact date of his birth is unknown though many historians have come to the agreement that he was born on or near April 23 1564. This assumption is due to the fact that his records show he was baptized on the 26th of April 1564. It is also likely that he attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford. As that would have been typical for a child who’s father was an alderman. What is known is that he did not go to Unversity.
In his 20 years as a playwright, Shakespeare wrote plays that capture the complete range of human emotion and conflict. Shakespeare was the third child of John Shakespeare, a leather merchant, and Mary Arden, a local landed heiress. William had two older sisters and three younger brothers. Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582, Worcester, in Canterbury Province. “There are seven years of Shakespeare’s life where no records exist after the birth of his twins in 1585”.
Emergent large, commercial theatres during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I ((1558-1603) were able to reach an unprecedented level of artistic achievement due to unprecedented socio-cultural changes. These changes included a breakdown of the feudal system of the Middle Ages, the Protestant Reformation and a movement towards Humanism. Despite these radical societal transformations, continuities with the beliefs and structures of the recent past – including the concept of a Chain of Being and a belief in the four humours of the body – are evident during Shakespeare’s lifetime. A demand for labour was created by the rapid rise of industrial towns and the Black Death, which wiped out two-thirds of England’s labour force.
At 18, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, a 26 year old woman from a neighboring town. When they wed Anne was three months pregnant. They had their first child, Susanna was born in 1583. Anne and William also had twins, Hamnet and Judith in 1585. The "lost years" of Shakespeare's life took place in the following 7 years. There are no clear records of what took place in his life during these years. Many theorys have been made but none confirmed. It is generally accepted that Shakespeare arrived in London in the late 1580s.
Why did people centuries ago use thee and thou and ye when the word you works for all? Why did people say, “let us go presently” (Shakespeare) and mean “let us go immediately?” Because the English language changes, like every other living language. Words are always changing, making it quite interesting, and a bit confusing, to read books written a long time ago. Reading Shakespeare’s plays can make someone aware of this change.
William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford on Avon to John and Mary Shakespeare. His humble beginnings lead him to the man he was to become. His father worked as a leather maker and eventually became the town bailiff. His mother worked as a stay at home mother. Shakespeare had married Anne Hathaway in 1582. They had three children, Judith, Hamnet, and Susanna. There are no living descendants of Shakespeare.1
At the age of 18, William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, who was eight years older than him, on November 28, 1582. William and Anne had a total of three recorded children, Susanna, baptized on May 26, 1583, and twins, Hamnet and Judith, who were both baptized on February 2, 1585. It is presumed that Susanna was conceived before the marriage as she was born six months after the marriage certificate had been presented. Of these three children, Susanna and Judith go on to marry Thomas Quiney and John Hall respectively. Thomas Quiney was the son of a supposed friend of Shakespeare and John Hall was a respected physician in Stratford. Shakespeare’s only son, Hamnet, died at age eleven, and it’s more likely that Shakespeare was not around for his son’s final days or funeral.

He attended the village elementary school, was tutored by his mother and others, and learned a great deal by himself[2]. At the age of 18 he married Anne Hathaway, had his first child, Susanna in 1583 followed by twins Judith and Hamnet in 1585. Documentation ends here. Shakespeare ventured to London for work while Anne and the children remained in Stratford, where she would remain the rest of her life. In an article entitled Shakespeare?s Life, found on Foldger Shakespeare Library, it suggests, ?that this separation, and the couple 's relatively few children, were signs of a strained marriage, but we do not know that, either.? However, the article later goes on to note that ?someone pursuing a theater career had no choice but to work in London, and many branches of the Shakespeares had small families.?
Shakespeare was born in Stratford, London in April 1564. He had an average childhood with a basic, classical education. After a while, he married Anne Hathaway in 1582. With Anne, they had 3 kids. Sadly, one son passed away at the young age of eleven. For work, Shakespeare worked in a theater which soon built his amazing reputation. They soon found themselves with three kids, Susana being the first (born in 1583) followed by the twins, Hamnet and Judith in 1585 (William Shakespeare’s biography: April 23, 2014). The time period of 1585 to 1592 are recorded as the “lost years” because what William did, and lived is hazy, and regarded as unreliable informations. It was, however, recorded that Hamnet died in an unexplained accident in 1590 (Shakespeare’s life: April 23, 2014).
