Imagine sitting on a bench at the park enjoying some ice cream. Then out of nowhere, the high pitched wail of a baby is heard. It could be the baby’s diaper or the fact that he is hungry, but since breastfeeding is not permitted, the baby will not stop crying until he is fed. The mother is frantically trying to calm her baby down by rocking him, but he keeps crying. At this point, not even an artificial formula works; he wants his mom’s milk but the mother does not know what to do since she cannot breastfeed and her baby will not be satisfied now. If breastfeeding was allowed in public, this problem would not be so common. Breastfeeding should be allowed in public because it is something normal and human. Nobody should have a problem with this since there would definitely be less disruption and frustration of mothers in public places if they were able to feed their babies. …show more content…
It is something nearly everyone has seen and learned from at some point. It is not rare; it’s done worldwide. It is assured that almost everyone has been breastfed by their mother so why do people have a problem if a baby wants to be fed? Many can say that since it can be an inappropriate scene for children, artificial formulas work as well, but that’s not the case for everyone. Some babies cannot take formula due to health issues or just do not want it and it can be a problem for the mothers too. In addition, there is nothing inappropriate about it. On the other hand, it just broadens the understanding of toddlers who will eventually come to ask about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding publicly should be nothing that women should have to refrain from doing and be ashamed or bashed about because necessary for them and their babies. This should not even be a problem because breastfeeding is a natural part of
One of the things fueling the force against breastfeeding in public is that not a lot of people know how beneficial breastfeeding over formula feeding is for the child. According to The Economic Benefits of Breastfeeding: A Review and Analysis Written by Jon p. Weimer, the majority of the American infants were breastfed up until around 1950. In the last 50 years alone, breastfeeding has changed significantly with the creation of synthetic formula, causing the number of infants being breastfed to dwindle off. Between 1946 and 1956, the number of infants being breastfed fell by half, and by 1967 only 25% of America’s infant population was being breastfed at the time of hospital discharge. The numbers proceeded to increase and decrease in the
Mother’s breastfeeding in public should be universally accepted because it would allow mothers to feed their infants without fear, allow mothers to provide the most complete form of nutrition to their babies, and desexualize the act of breastfeeding.
Women carry a child inside of their body for 9 straight months. Why should we take away the right for them to feed their child publicly? Yes, nudity in a public space is illegal, but not feeding your child is, too. Women across the country are enraged about people saying they feel uncomfortable about it. Who would want to feed their child in a bathroom stall? Breastfeeding is beneficial to mother and child, it's ideal for the child's health, and it's cost effective and environmentally
Breastfeeding in public has been a big thing this year for many different reasons. It's offensive to others in public because we don't live in a society today where it's okay to show our boobs or cleavage. Breast feeding should be a crime for being done in public. Its disgusting and there is so many more places to breastfeed instead of infront of everybody. Women should go in a bathroom stall for an hour and just sit there while they feed their child because that's the most sanitized place ever.
Breast feeding has been in practice for a very long time, as early as 2000 BC. Before the invention of formula, bottles, and pumps this was the safest most common way for a mother to feed their infants. In fact, for 99% of human history breast milk was the sole source of nutrition for children until the age of two. In today’s society there are many different and opposing personal stand points on where or not a mother should breast feed their children. It is a very controversial topic with many variables. In breast feeding there are several benefits, reasons, and cultural effects that go into making the decision to engage or stay away from breast feeding. There is also historical causes and cultural differences that lead influence a mothers
Some say it may cause problems between the parents and the kids. Your child would be wondering what that lady doing. That's when the parent should take control and explain how it natural and all women do it. The last president we had Obama was for breastfeeding he actually signed several acts that protect the mothers from breastfeeding in the nasty bathroom. The government wants to protect women rights well at least Obamacare did before he left the house. . Trump is against breastfeeding he called breastfeeding disgusting but haven't really spoke publicly about it yet. I am a mother and I have two kids I didn't breastfeed my kids because I felt like it was time consuming I wouldn't have time to breastfeed. Or I would forget to pump but I am for breastfeeding I just wouldn't do it because of time. But I did try it with my second child for health reason but then I went back to bottles. I feel it's up to the mother do whatever works best for you who cares what other people
What could possibly be wrong about a mother nourishing her child? Absolutely nothing. Many people view a woman's breasts as sexual items. The main purpose of breasts Is to breastfeed a child after birth. I came across The Milk Truck while back. The Milk Truck is there “to create a mobile breastfeeding unit that allows mothers to feed their babies in places where they have been discouraged - restaurants, shopping malls, public spaces, etc. Babies should be able to eat anywhere, and everywhere". I am absolutely for breastfeeding in public.
Breast feeding in public is a very controversial subject. Many people feel very strongly about their opinion. This is one of those recurring social debates and issues that seems to pop up quite frequently in one form or another. Is it acceptable to breastfeed in public? There are no laws against it in most states, but is it acceptable or seem presentable to do that in front of one who doesn’t want to see? It is hard to say who is right and who is wrong, when each person has a different view on life, religion and morals.
Breastfeeding has been around for thousands of years and was considered normal. In today's society, breastfeeding is seen as a taboo. Women have been hassled in public for the reason that the people are not comfortable seeing mothers breastfeed. Proponents such as I feel that breastfeeding in public is appropriate because it is simply a mother meeting her child's most basic need. With babies being exposed to germs and diseases at all times, I am for breastfeeding whenever it is needed in order for them to get the health benefits, such as nutrients and antibodies, that come along with it.
Growing up around women breastfeeding was quite interesting; although I was young I was always embarrassed to be around a nursing mother. Most of us are aware that breastfeeding is the most natural way of providing infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Breastfeeding to a lot of mothers is the time of bonding between themselves and child. Disagreement arises when nursing mothers decide to perform feedings in public areas. Then we have the groups of people that view breastfeeding in public places as indecent and offensive. In an article about current breastfeeding laws the authors state that “currently, the majority of the US states have legislation permitting women to breastfeed in any location and exempting breastfeeding from indecency laws” (Nguyen,Hawkins). I don’t think the issue is with breastfeeding itself. What may actually be the problem with the whole breastfeeding in public debate would have to be the action of breastfeeding, the locations where the mothers choose to breastfeed and sometimes age of child being breastfeed. Public breastfeeding can be a very touchy topic with strong feelings on both sides of the debate. After considering both sides of the issue, breastfeeding in public areas should not be done.
Breastfeeding in public is one of the most controversial issues in society today. Breastfeeding has been around since before the 15th century. It is a bond shared between a mother and a child. Research shows that breastfeeding is the best choice over formula because breastfeeding provides the infant with essential nutrients, helps with recovery from childbirth, and protects the infant against a number of chronic conditions. Breastfeeding is abnormal, healthy, natural and need not be disguised, explained, or apologized. You should be able to breastfeed your baby wherever or whenever your child is hungry. Breastfeeding is not a choice it’s a responsibility. It may not be the right choice for some parents, but it’s the best choice for every baby.
Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding helps babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is easy for an infant’s stomach to digest. Also, breastfeeding helps the infant and the mother to bond and it can help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy. However, breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced to use the public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in public, why shouldn’t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the bathroom? Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right to breastfeed her babies in public, and women’s breast is created to nurture babies. People argue breastfeeding in public is indecent exposure and unconformable to those who are watching a mother nursing a child. Breastfeeding in public shouldn’t bother other people because it is unrealistic to expect mothers to feed their babies in places like bathrooms.
Since the very beginning mothers have been nursing their children, but in today’s society many say it is an act for behind closed doors. Women have been criticized and asked to leave restaurants, doctors’ offices, stores, schools, airplanes, and churches for nursing their child. Mothers are standing against this idea and wanting to feed their baby without being shamed by the public.
According to The Equal Opportunity Act and the US Department of Labor, a mother should be able to breastfeed her child in public and in her place of work. Even when it is a protected right, public perception varies on the delicate issue of whether or not a nursing mother should meet the necessities of her child in a public place. If babies have the right to eat and people do not complain or judge when a baby is being bottle-fed in public, then mothers who choose to breast feed should have the same right. Many people are not well informed of the all the benefits that breastfeeding offers the child, mother, and, even the public.
Public pressure has urged health departments to recognize the significance of breastfeeding and encourage mothers to do so. There are now laws in place to protect the rights of a breastfeeding mother when feeding her child in public. A baby's need to eat cannot be determined by a set schedule. There are laws that make public breastfeeding legal and prohibit companies from banning it in the workplace.
