“Slavery in the south was a cruel and horrible thing that happen in our history.Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to help in the production of such high value crops as tobacco. And most aren 't aware that slavery in this country didn 't officially end until Dec. 6, 1865, the day the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified. It didn 't end on Jan. 1, 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation. When slavery started most were all for slavery, but those who weren’t for slavery were disgusted in those who were. One of the major things that helped stop slavery was the “ I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr said the "I Have a Dream Speech" On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr., delivered a speech to a massive group of civil rights marchers gathered around the Lincoln memorial in Washington DC. And as we all know slavery and the enslavement of jews was a harsh and cruel point in our lives though not everyone had to or has experienced this it is still a horrible turn in our history.
