Television was one of the most entertaining things made in 1927. T.V. has changed the world in so many ways with many good things and bad things. This intelligent man named Philo Farnsworth invented the television on September 9, 1927. He was born on August 19, 1906. When he was fourteen he sketched an idea out for his science teacher (Landen). Philo Farnsworth was born on August 19, 1906. His parents were Lewis Edwin and Serena Bastian Farnsworth. When Philo was thirteen he received a first prize award of twenty-five dollars for his invention of a theft-proof ignition switch for automobiles. Philo has received other awards in 1944 like the first gold medal award by the National Television Broadcasters Association. He also made the first cold cathode-ray tube and even invented the first simple electron microscope. He later passed away on March 11, 1971 from emphysema (Landen). Philo was a very intelligent man for the things he has created. He has truly changed the world with all the products he has invented. Television was sold to the international telephone and telegraph in 1949. Also in the 1950’s they sold T.V.’s for $129 to $1,295. And in 1954, black and white T.V.’s sold for $189. Television in schools have made a major impact on kids learning. It has become more fun and entertaining for kids. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting says, “Students who view a lot of television are more likely to report lower grades.” But 74.7% of the kids say they learn better. And 74.1% say they are more interested in the subject they are learning. At school, kids have watched channel one and it kept them updated about the news & what's going on in the world.
