When you think of road trips, you think of driving down 95, blasting music, laughing constantly and making memories that you will hold on to for the rest of your life. Ten years ago, this may have been the case, but not today. Now, road trips are defined by countless portable chargers, downloaded movies and computer games; no one says a word. No matter the age, everyone is on their phones. Previously, the car was a place bond, gossip, and connect; now it is place where we watch movies and magically appear in new places as the credits begin to roll. Cars have turned into a place where conversation perishes and is only revived when the battery on our devices runs out. Once they became popular, smartphones dominated the lives of Americans and became a key part of American culture; today, the average teenager spends a whopping 9 hours a day using media (Wallace). The problem has become so severe that 40% of Americans are uncomfortable when they are out of reach of their phone and doctors have even created a name for the condition, Nomophobia, which is the fear of not having mobile connection (Harper). Before the technological surge, children spent their days exploring the outdoors, playing sports and going out with their friends; now, they spend their days texting, snapchatting and scrolling through feed after feed of social media. This lack of communication in the developmental stages of youth creates introverted, uncomfortable individuals who lack the soft skills needed to work in today’s collaborative workforce (Alsop). As technology stretches to younger generations, they have more exposure to electronics and less exposure to social etiquette, making them less gregarious. If the problem continues, future generations will become so introverted that they will lose all interpersonal skills and will be unable to interact with each other face to face. In today’s world, cellphones are everywhere and people are always on them; no situation is important enough for teens to get off their phones and connect with the world around them. When millennials get
Ever since smartphones were created, they have changed teenagers’ lives entirely. The article Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation? by Jean Twenge, shows the ways the invention of the smartphone has changed recent generations. The article mentions the rise in teen depression and suicide, cyberbullying, and teen safety. It also mentions the decline in our social abilities, dating, and sleep. Smartphones have had both negative and positive affects on teenagers, but the negatives significantly outweigh the positives, which points to the need to put down the smartphones, as the article suggests.

Whether you’re getting directions, calling a loved one to let them know you’re running a little late, or checking Facebook to catch up with an old high school friend, cell phones have began to dominate our technology based society due to their easy accessibility and endless uses. While “nine-in-ten Americans own a cell phone and nearly two-thirds own a smartphone,” the cell phone is has become one of the only things the vast majority of people deem necessary in their life (Rainie et al., 2015). “Ch 1: Always on Connectivity,” written by by Lee Rainie and Kathryn Zickuhr, explains how dependent adults really have become of our cell phones. “8 Fascinating Facts About How Teens Use The Internet And Social Media” elaborates
In today’s society, the computers we have now compared to the ones in the past, vary greatly. Back then, we could not do the many things that we could today with our technology. Our technology has grown tremendously throughout the years and with this technology, we have been able to accomplish a vast amount of things. With this exponential rate of our technology, it opens many opportunities for us. Also, it could possibly open up to the ‘Singularity’. In that case, there will be many outcomes of the singularity.
Technology and its constant advancements have integrated itself into every aspect of our world. Music has now become a place for the facilitation of experiences through technology in our society. However, the monetization of music through technology has created a far more difficult experience for the fans of music in all genres. In reference to technology, the term streaming is defined as “playing continuously as data is sent to a computer over the Internet”, (Webster). The internet and its streaming capabilities is an amazing tool used to connect the fans, almost instantly, to the music; however, it also puts the content at risk due to the possible technological issues, exclusivity rights, and digital piracy.
According to Mail Online, the average person looks at their phone approximately 110 times a day. Whether it is to check a message, make a call, or check the time, 110 times a day seems a bit excessive. Primarily starting in the 1980s, technology has changed dramatically and rather quickly. It has changed from telephones to cell phones, computers to laptops, emailing to text messaging, CD players to iPod, and cable television to Smart TVs; technology is rapidly improving throughout the years. Over the more recent couple of decades, technology has completely changed today’s society. Not only has technology changed the way people communicate, it has also changed healthcare and work by keeping track of everyday data and expenses. Along with the way people use the internet to research any topic they want, technology has also improved the way people live their everyday lives; technology has taken over today’s society.
Increased popularity of cell phone use has lead to unforeseen social consequences. We aim to inform the reader of these consequences. Cell phones are extremely useful, but according to the research the problems outweigh the benefits. These problems need to be addressed because they are prevalent in our time now, and can be addressed by personal responsibility in the use of cell phones when others are present. This study focuses on young adult between the ages of 18-29. Cell phones were originally created for connectivity; they have now evolved into a means which destroys social interaction. Research illustrates that cell phones are no longer making communication more effective; cell phones are part of everyday life, and as such adolescents need to limit usage because excessive time utilizing cell phones has negatively impacted social skills: impaired communication and promoted loneliness.
Technology and interconnectivity has become a crucial part of modern society, being predicted by 2020 that 90% of the entire world will have a cellphone (Woods, 2014). With how fast-paced today 's society is becoming it is no surprise that dating online is becoming the most popular way to meet people. People just don’t have time to keep trying (and failing) at the ‘bar scene’, they want to make the most of their time and find someone compatible for their needs at that moment. The following report is a summary of the findings of our research that was ran over a 15 day period (September 28th, 2016 to October 12th, 2016).
Over the years technology has changed our lives. Today there are kids getting cell phones, laptops, iPads, etc… that thirty years ago it was new technology and that it was for business use. In the last ten or so years cell phones have become very popular and a norm. Cell phones have made it easier for people to be and stay in contact with each other rather than have a land line phone. With cell phones becoming more and more popular, there will be issues that will have to be fixed or solutions to help prevent anything bad to happen. One issue that is a real problem right now with cell phones is sexting. Sexting started in 2005 and now has become the most popular thing for teens and young adults to do (The Evolution of Cell Phone Design Between 1983-2009). Sexting is when someone sends, receives, or forwards pictures of nudity and sexual messages through texting (“Sexting”). Most of the sexting is among minors which is illegal and they can be punished for it. Unfortunately it has been going out of control, more and more teens are doing it. So parents need to understand why sexting is not good and look at how they can prevent it from getting worse. Parents need to help these teens and young adults to understand that sexting is bad. It can also hurt them in the future, so some solutions that can help with this are, parents talking to schools about sexting, informing their teens on what sexting is, and the best solution out of these three is parents need to get the word out
I grew up in a world where 10-year-olds get their first smartphone and where babies are exposed to the Internet immediately through YouTube videos of Sesame Street or Baby Mozart Music. The Internet has become more than just a luxury but a necessity. It has become second nature to us all. When we cannot think of a word, we search for it on Google. When we need to find the fastest route back home, we look to our smartphones. When I was only six years old, I began writing poetry and sharing it online on a blog. Since then, blogging has become the norm. The Internet has become an integral part of people 's day to day lives. Not only has technology evolved, but people have evolved along with it.
When a college student was asked if they knew what an overhead was, the response had been, “Yes of course! It’s a projector like box with a light and mirror, which sits in the front of the classroom. It displays pictures from slides, and the teacher has clear sheets that we can write on using vis-a-vis marker.” Then when a student in elementary school was asked if they knew what an overhead was, their response were entirely different. None of them knew what it was, as their responses had been, “A coloring table”, “When you wear a mask”, and “A wood that covers things.” As one can see, the newer generations didn 't have the slightest idea of what an overhead is, while older students have grown up with the use of one. This is due to how technology has been advancing throughout the years and it will continue to change as time goes on.
