Alone with his dog Max on Mount Crumpit, poor Grinch hated the entire idea of all the Christmas bliss. He had a repugnance for all that participated in such holiday because of the countless rejections he received from the Whos as a child. Many Whos including the Mayor of Whoville himself would ridicule him for lack of better appearance making the Grinch feel remorseful and unfit for the Whos’ standards. For this reason, he stayed far, far away from the Whos and anything pertaining to them. No one quite realized the reasonings for the Grinch’s cold-hearted tendencies and rather just came to the conclusion that his heart was just two sizes too small. Grinch saw Cindy Lou as just another Who, but as time progressed the Grinch came to the realization that she was someone who truly cared about him when no one else did, ultimately changing his outlook on Whoville as a whole. The theme of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” involves Cindy Lou’s persistent attempts to change the Grinch’s outlook on Christmas. An example for this can be in the scene where Cindy Lou took the time out to go to Mount Crumpit and invite Mr. Grinch to the Holiday Whobilation, a Christmas celebration, where he’d be receiving a special award and tons of food from the townspeople upon getting word on his touching story. I enjoyed this film as a young girl and still enjoy this film as if it was my first time watching it. My favorite aspect of “The Grinch” was Carrey’s performance. I was so intrigued by how he managed to provide a jaw-droppingly humorous presentation with his over-the-top animated antics and trademark facial expressions under pounds of green makeup and knotted hair. He leaped, tumbled, taunted, and flew through the air and tunnels throughout the garbage mountain, Mount Crumpit. His unbelievable gestures left me so interested throughout the film I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. With Carrey’s performance, he took “The Grinch” to a level of genius! The film itself had already established the lovable and cheerful community of Whoville and all it needed was a little bit of edge to take the film sky high, Carrey was it. This is the perfect film to watch with the family around the Christmas holiday as it brings out a great sense of joy. My reaction to this film was a hilarious, positive one, I constantly found myself laughing at various scenes at the Grinch’s change of voice and direction as well as the dialogue between the Whos and himself. From the very beginning I was able to understand the reasoning behind each and every character's demeanor, so the happy ending was welcoming. To me, I personally feel like there were no issues with “The Grinch”
