• Direct online sales- this is when a business makes a direct online sale to a customer. This is when the use of E-commerce takes place as businesses like Tesco uses the internet as a form of selling products online as they use devices like Mobile phones and computers. Tesco uses the direct selling in order to keep up with their competitors as it is positive for them since it helps them attract new customers. This way they will be able to get new and loyal customers. Along with Tesco, other website like Oxfam also uses direct sales. However, their purpose of using it is different to Tesco as they use it so that they can get more money by selling products to help people and not to grow their business.
• Online sales with physical delivery- this is when a customer makes a purchase online and then businesses deliver the products. Many businesses nowadays offer this as it is helpful for them since the use of internet and online shopping in on the rise and it also helps businesses since they can empty the warehouse at once when trucks are ready for deliveries. This means they have more room for other products to be placed in the same storage saving them money to buy another storeroom. For example, eBay; they have three
The purpose of this assignment is to understand the range of different businesses and their ownership. I chose Sainsbury’s and Oxfam as they are businesses with different characteristics from each other, as I needed to choose one big company (such as PLC (public limited company) or LTD (private limited company)) and a small business (such as partnership, sole trader, non-for-profit business). In fact, Sainsbury’s is a supermarket and Oxfam a charity. This assignment will cover the purpose and ownership of the two businesses, the stakeholders of each business and how they affect the business.
I will be looking at two businesses that have different ways of making their money. These companies are Oxfam and Tesco. Here I will explain exactly what makes these two businesses so different.
I will be relating the type of business, purpose and ownership of the two contrasting organisations. The two organisations that I will be choosing are: Oxfam and Sainsbury’s.
The British Heart Foundation is the UK’s Number 1 Heart Charity. Their vision “is a world where people don’t die prematurely from heart disease.” They were founded in 1961 by a group of medical specialists who wanted to give money to fund extra research to find out the causes of heart diseases. They were concerned about the number of people with Cardiovascular Heart Disease who were dying prematurely. They have been going for 53 years and have been helping people since then. They have been taking part in all events but the main one which is coming up in September is the Oxford to Cambridge Bike Ride.
In this task I will be looking at my chosen businesses, Tesco and Apple. The reason I chose Apple is, because it is a worldwide organisation and you can find lots of information about it, also with Apple it has famous products which are quite easy to talk about. The reason I chose Tesco is, because it is an organisation that everyone in the UK knows about. Tesco is also a very big household name, like Apple you can find lots of information on. Both businesses have similarities and differences which we will find out about when we explore them. In this task I intend to talk about my two chosen businesses and describe the type of business, purpose and ownership of the two contrasting businesses.
For this assignment you are asked to SUMMARIZE or CRITIQUE the various features of each of the ten web sites NOT to simply copy and paste information directly from each site into your submission. Please don't just list a lot of historical or biographical information. You should describe each of the ten sites and discuss the various interactive and web features of each one. For this assessment I am going to write a report about two businesses. A large national business, and a small local business. My large business is Manchester Airport because it is a large corporation and is very easy to research about. School has also organised a trip for us to go and visit Manchester Airport where we will be able to ask questions about the business. My small business is Coca-Cola shop (corner shop) because I’ve been going there for years, due to this fact I have become fairly good friends with the business owner. This will allow me to go to his shop and ask him the questions without being nervous. I will then describe and compare the purpose aims and objectives of the two businesses. I will also look into what activities they do as a business, and who their competitors are.
My first business is Tesco the biggest retail company in Britain. My second business is McDonald’s one of the largest franchise fast food outlets in the world.

You can buy anything from baby food to prescription drugs on the internet and it will be delivered in a timely fashion to your front door. No line, no commute time, no annoying shoppers and no incompetent sales persons.
This is when business like John Lewis gives customer option to buy item from their physical store and
There are two types of e-commerce, direct and indirect. Direct e-commerce is where services or goods can be delivered on line, such as music downloads. Indirect e-commerce is where goods and services ordered on line but delivered off-line, for example by post or courier.
The first and foremost is the reduction of delivery time from few days to just few hours. An e-retailer can deliver the product within few hours of ordering in anticipatory package shipping method unlike few days it takes to deliver in a traditional shipping method. The major shortcomings of e-commerce business is that people don’t like to wait for their purchases. Thus this method will mitigate the e-commerce industry’s major disadvantage when competing against brick-and-mortar stores by cutting down the delay between order placement and delivery. This will increase sales, customer satisfaction and loyalty due to close to real-time delivery of products and reduced delivery time. The second most important advantage offered by this method would be reduction in shipping cost by reduction in expedited shipping. Since this method anticipates the consumer purchase before it happens, most of the expedited shipping through air can be avoided. This way, customers could get the benefit of substantial cost saving on non-expedited package in same delivery time as expedited package which comes at a higher cost. The third major advantage offered by this method is the reduction in local warehouse cost. The anticipatory shipping method use predictive analytics to forecast the aggregate demand at region level and can ship the package directly from central fulfilment/distribution centre to third-party logistics provider
This new rationale has helped Tesco meet their customers’ desires and demands, attract upper market segments, become more cost-efficient, increase home delivery accuracy, and to collect data about their customers’ purchase habits. One of the major advantages of Tesco Direct is customers are able to pick their products online and have them ready for pick up when the customer desires, this has allowed Tesco the opportunity to expand their customer base. Online orders allowed Tesco Direct to manage customer
Online shopping or online retailing is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser. Alternative names are: e-shop, e-store, Internet shop, web-shop, web-store, online store, and virtual store. An online shop evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or shopping center. The process is called business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping. In the case where a business buys from another business, the process is called business-to-business (B2B) online shopping. The largest of these online retailing corporations are eBay and Amazon.com, both based in the United States.
