How To Be A Dental Hygienist

After shadowing Dental Hygienist I have learned a lot about what is expected in the profession. Some traits that I found are very important to posses are, being able to properly communicate with your patients, be very detailed oriented, and have a positive and patient personality.

They are located in dental offices, their scheduling is quite different from other jobs. They can work full time, part time, evening and weekend schedules which are pretty common, according to an online dental resource guide. Some can also not work during the whole week, maybe two or three days a week. That usually leads to many hygienist will hold more than one dental job. Or one can have a part time while having a family and that would be a perfect role to live in.

As hygienist we want to make sure that we are constantly educating and reminding our patients of the benefits of losing weight yet this are motivating factors. W e got it make sure we are especially educating those patients which certain risk factors. We want to provide them the pros that are gain from weight loss and provide them with the risk factors. Everything that I am currently learning from my senior clinics is helping me improve on skills that I still need to work on. Seeing my mentor perform the skills ill be doing anytime soon, gives me an introduction on what to expect. The experiences that I am gaining are going to help me become a great hygienist in my future. Learning how to gain great interproximal skills is an important skill that will help me work well with others along with my patients.

My educational goal is to get accepted into the dental hygiene program at South Florida State College. Furthermore, get accepted into the program, I will need to get straight A’s and rack up as many hours as possible in a dental office. At DeSoto County High School, there is no club or class to prepare me for dental hygiene school. After I obtain my degree in dental hygiene, I plan on working at a dental office, in addition, do community service by cleaning teeth for people that can't afford it. For example, the homeless community and group homes.

My favorite sports are swimming, horseback riding, and basketball. I have been swimming my whole life, but not competitively. I have been horseback riding since I was 2 years old. My name I is Brandon Love ,I'm 20 years old, and I have just made my way into Wichita Area Technical college, but first I'm want to say I little bit about who I am; I'm 5'11, my favorite thing to is to wake up on Monday mornings at 7 o'clock to go running at the school walk path by my house,but before I do that I do a forty minute stretch so I can feel and get into my run, then I drink a cup of protein shake and then start my challenge for the day. once I've started my run I don't stop for five minutes and then .take a break for about two minutes . following with a repeat and a game of basketball with my cousin. My dream job is to be a dental hygienist and has been the same since I was a little girl. I have an interest in how health can affect one’s body. I would like to educate others how important it is to keep your body, including teeth, healthy and clean. To see people who have not cleaned their teeth in years compared to people who are able to see the dentist every six months, is a drastic difference. Some people may think it does not matter, but lack of dental care actually takes a toll on your health. I want to peruse this career to help other’s think. I will enjoy helping other people by showing them the importance of keeping their teeth cleaned. Contrary to popular belief, a tooth brush does not do all the work, that is also why it is so important to have a dentist to make sure you are getting the cleaning you need to stay healthy. Another reason why I want to pursue this career is I work best in an oriented atmosphere. Making sure people are comfortable with where they are and make sure the patients are taken care of. Intro: Someone coming at you, white latex gloves, the tool with a hook that twinkles with deceit in hand, and as your dazed from the anesthetics they gave you, they ask you to smile and then ask you to “open wide” to claw at your teeth and gums. Yeah, that’s what I want to be doing as a career, scaring kids as a dentist. That’s what people see them for, but what really makes a dentist? Lots of schooling, is one for sure, but you also must have simple skills that some may be born with or others have to learn. Explaining these things and learning about these things are crucial to my education to becoming a dentist.
