Firstly, I will define reasonable. Having sound judgement; fair and sensible. In this instance letting some poor refugees, in to a country with barely other people is surely the right thing to do, I mean it’s a no-brainer.
The ending is no at all reasonable. When people ranging from little babies, to Grandmas and Grandpas, have absolutely nowhere to go, Australia is heaven on Earth. It’s a basic human right to be able to live happily, safely, and not being constantly scared you’re going to die. Yet so many people have to live this horrible, horrible life. Besides, it’s a free country.
I do not at all get the fact that someone got more votes, for keeping people out. These people have seen war, and been right up close to tanks, warheads, bombs.

I mean come on, let’s use our common sense here. Just because they come from a world of war, it does not mean they bring guns, bombs, cannons wherever they go. They barely have enough energy to walk, let alone kill their saviours. Sometimes you just have to ask yourselves, is keeping all these people, who do no harm at all, really the right thing to do.
Ok, so they dress differently, eat differently, smell differently and look differently, but are they really that different? No, if we are the ones rejecting them, isn’t it us that are really different? Yes, it seems that we are the real bad guys here. We are not the victims. The Afghan’s life is like a child crying in a corner, that just found out his family has been murdered, compared to an Australian’s life.
If you really think these people deserve this, I look down on you. These people have done nothing to deserve the Australians banning refugees, and people like Jamal’s and Omar’s family, to just rot and die on an abandoned island. All these people want is to go to wonderful, heavenly Australia. They are so desperate, they are prepared to leave their home town, all those wonderful memories of their childhood, to go to a better
Present day Australia is met with the issue of outlining a sense of a nationwide community, after the breakdown of the British race patriot idea in the mid-1960s with the introduction of multiculturalism. The Euro-centric perception of Australia was annulled and it was incapable in playing a significant part in Australian policies and priorities. It triggered a calamity of national identity and meaning. The credence that Australian’s were apart of Britain, united by history, tradition and blood needed to be revised. A people who had recognized themselves so strongly with the British race now had to accede their race awareness and apprehend the notion of being a now multicultural society. The dawn of multiculturalism also provoked a quandary for balancing a respect of the British heritage with the abating relevance of the British connection and to construct a new language of community from the residues of the old British ways.

It wasn’t what they expected when they boarded the boat and set sail to Christmas Island. They envisioned a land where they would be free of persecution and horrors and a land where they could finally find peace. The two individuals from Afghanistan an adult and a 16 year old, known as M70 and M106, envisioned Australia as a chance at a new life. However, when they arrived in the Australian territory Christmas Island on the 4th of August 2011 as refugees, it wasn’t as they expected.
With over 7,000 kilometres of pristine coastline and beaches, Australia's Queensland takes pride in being called the Sunshine State. Its stylish capital, Brisbane, is only one of the ten largest Australian cities known to Aussies and knows how to cater to its many visitors with its wide range of regional attractions.
Being a 9-year-old immigrant, born and brought up in a third world country, Kenya, and moving to Australia was a big step for me. I had no understanding of how life around me would dramatically change. Shifting from a society with dark skinned people around me to almost no dark skin people around me but light skin, from dirty rural areas to clean urban areas, dirty air to fresh air and from an insecure world to an innocent world. My parents decided to move to Australia for me and my little sister’s future. Apparently being educated in Australia was a big deal, according to the media and what my parents had told me.
Australia Day is held on 26 January each year but do you know why? Well it marks a significant date in Australia's history but not everyone thinks it's a date that should be celebrated. Recently, there have been calls for Australia Day to move.
The debate about asylum seekers in Australia is contentious and politically charged, but research commissioned by Amnesty International has found that anti-asylum seekers sentiments are not actually fuelled by racism.
And the United States themselves should be able to accept as much refugees as they can due to the fact that there are some Americans that would do anything to help refugees out. For example, I read a document from the Boston Globe, titled “An Outpouring of Support for Refugees” and basically talked about how Cheryl Hamilton from Lowell asked many people to help her out to support refugees arriving from Congo, Syria, Myanmar, and Iraq. Cheryl and others basically gathered a collection of kitchen supplies, winter coats, blankets, and much more, just to give them to the refugees that have arrived to a totally different place than what they were used to. And it also said: “Volunteers walked into the office and said, “I can’t stand watching the news anymore. How can I help?”” This shows that there are some Americans that have no problem with letting in refugees, and are willing to do anything for them, because it help seeing what type of conditions they were living in, as well as what is going on in their home countries. For example, there’s a photograph from Time which shows a young boy covered in blood, and says: “Footage shared online by the Aleppo Media Center is said to show a boy who was pulled from an airstrike on Aug. 17 in the Syrian city of Aleppo.” which I remember
Being an athletes is one of the best-paid jobs on Earth. Being that they are paid so much the cost for the consumer is very high. The prices of tickets and sports memorabilia have been steadily rising over the years. The average ticket prices for the NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL all rose 5% to 10% this year, according to Jon Greenberg, executive editor of Team Marketing Report. (Mihoces).
While Brisbane is not as famous as its southern siblings like Sydney and Melbourne, it has possibly the best things to offer to its residents and visitors. There are many different views about refugees in Australian society, where illegal boat people and over flowing detention centres are a controversial problem today. Go Back To Where You Came From is a documentary directed by Ivan O’Mahoney about a social experiment that challenges the dominant views of six Australians about refugees and asylum seekers. These six Australians are taken on a 25 day journey where they are placed into the troubled “worlds” of refugees. For a few of the Australians it is their first time overseas but, for all of them it is the most challenging and confronting experience of their lives. This essay will discuss
200 years is enough time to forgive. Wake up, everyone! We know the British came and stole Aboriginal landing, that was a huge crime but now our war ended, we live in our country named Australia and we are Australians, Australia Day is one of our tradition, Aboriginal’s failure won’t change despite we change the day. I am Lake, a Aborigine living and contributing for Australia and I will sorry to Melbourne citizens, especially who want to change the day that i honestly disagree.
When in Rome! I chose to pick a study abroad program because I want to explore the world. I think it is a perfect idea to get a chance to travel to another country and earn college credits. I chose Rome because that is where I think I will be more comfortable to visit while in college. It is full of culture, fashion, great cuisines, art, and many more! It has always been on my bucket list to go to Italy. It is the perfect opportunity to visit the country especially while I am in college. I remember watching Lizzie McGuire as a child and she went to Rome and impersonated an Italian pop star, Isabella. She met this handsome man who took her to tour the city. Everyone eventually realized he was using her to ruin Isabella, but it was still a happy ending for Lizzie McGuire. I wanted that happy ending it looked like so much fun running around Rome. The expenses are outstanding for the trip, but at least I have an agenda all laid out by the program.
“Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.
