When I think back to the time right before we started writing our essay I realize that in order to come up with any ideas for the paper we had to chew on one thought for over ten minutes. For example when I read the sentence that we wrote about fast-paced live of professionals that reside in the city, I remember that just that one sentence took us about fifteen minutes to finally use it on our paper. It seems like we should have done some free-writing before we started this assignment. When we started to write this essay we didn’t have a clear visual on our thesis. Pinckney Benton Stewart Pinchback, commonly known as P.B.S. Pinchback, was the first African American elected as a governor of a US state. Pinchback was born in Georgia in 1837 to a former slave. As an adult, Pinchback volunteered for the military during the Civil War. At first, he served in the First Louisiana Volunteers, which was an all white group then he left to create an all black volunteer unit called the Corps d 'Afrique. After the war, Pinchback began his career in politics in New Orleans. In 1968, he contributed to establishing Louisiana’ s new constitution during the state’s 1868 Constitutional Convention. When Lieutenant Governor Oliver Dunn died in 1871, Pinchback took his place. Shortly after, the governor of Louisiana at the time, Henry C. Warmouth, was impeached causing Pinchback to become the new governor. Even though his term was only 36 days, he was able to effectively govern by sanctioning 10 legislative bills. After his term as governor, Pinchback was elected to the United States Senate but had his seat taken from him to due racially motivated actions. Pinchback made history for his ability to obtain political power during the reconstruction era of the South.
In this heavily pretreated patient population, pemetrexed, a 2nd generation antifolate agent produced an objective response of 26% (4/15) in patients with thymoma. 2 complete responses and 2 partial responses were documented, whereas there was only one partial response in patients with thymic carcinoma. The response rate of 9% in patients with thymic carcinoma suggests that pemetrexed is not active in this more aggressive phenotype. This is the first study to prospectively demonstrate the clinical activity of pemetrexed in thymic malignancies and solidifies the role of pemetrexed in the second line, and beyond in advanced thymoma. Prior to this, a Phase I trial of pemetrexed conducted in Japan demonstrated a partial response in one patient

Grandparents relate more closely to grandchildren than to their own children in many ways. Grandparents and their children can be stubborn and not want to deal with each other anymore because of problems from the past. After so long grandparents give up on their children and deal with them from a distance. Grandparents are more willing to relate to their grandchildren more than their children because it is another chance of getting to know their children through their grandchildren.

Hopefully by volunteering in this program, it will enrich my knowledge on how hospitals function. I feel that the hands on experience in this stimulating program would motivate my interest in medical field furthermore. Not only to expand this knowledge but to strengthen my
