In order for us to stop with all these mass shootings and murders, the changes that we need to make is get really strict on gun control in America. We need to create a law or sign a petition about the use of gun violence in this country, and the effect that it’s having on our people. People can’t play the role of a regular bystander anymore; some people can’t even leave their house because there’s still that fear that they have of getting shot. If we sit around and do nothing this issue of gun violence is going to keep increasing, and the death rate is going to keep rising too. Furthermore, we can all come together as a community and protest about gun control in America. If we sit around and do nothing, then we are no better than the people
Gun Control in the United States has gone out of control. The United States should enforce laws to not allow any guns in a house hold in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing the rate of crime in the United States, controlling big weapons, taxing ammunition, and gun collection can help make this happen. Gun Control can make this country a safer environment to live in.
Mass shootings have been at the top of the headlines recently in the United States. These shootings are causing a major impact on those who reside in America. Something must be done immediately to bring down the frequency of these shootings so that one can be safe anywhere. There are many ways to stop this devastation that is bringing America to tears, but the most effective is to have stricter gun laws in the country. Control laws must be more harsh in order for there to be a decrease in mass shootings across the country.
On March 24, 1998, firing from the woods overlooking their school, 13-year-old Andrew Golden and 11-year-old Mitchell Johnson shot and killed four middle school students and a teacher and injured ten other students in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The two boys had a semiautomatic M-1 carbine with a large ammunition magazine, two other rifles, seven handguns and more than 500 rounds of ammunition which they took from the home of one of the boy?s grandfather, who had a large arsenal of weapons left unsecured. Officers arrested the two boys as they ran through the wooded area near the school, and they were convicted on five counts of capital murder and ten counts of first-degree battery in September 1998.
There is a huge epidemic that is taking place in the United States and our government has to put a stop to it. This issue is the mass shootings that take place in America. There has been numerous amount of mass shootings in the United States and many of them could have simply been avoided if there were stricter gun laws. This last decade has made Gun Control an unavoidable topic in society for Americas citizens and politicians. Our politicians must take a stand against these senseless crimes and ban these pointless weapons once and for all.
For many decades, gun violence has taken the lives of many; friends, family, artist, presidents, and even law enforcement. These tragic losses are a result of rapid, furious reactions from people who don 't stop and think, "is this truly worth their life?”. Fortunately, some of these killers were put behind bars and loved ones were able to find justice but justice could never replace the life of someone. Gun violence is dividing America and the majority of those at risk are innocent. How many more mass shootings do we have to endure in order to realize steps need to be taken to reduce the gun violence in America? America, land of the free, home to equal rights and security is being violated due to gun violence.
Because of many incidents involving handguns, and any other type of gun, the government has been trying to push a gun ban law. As a result of this rumor and possible law, there have been numerous outbursts of support and resistance. Some people believe that banning firearms would be a benefit to our nation’s safety and its population’s safety, while others oppose this proposal and say that guns are not the ones that need to be controlled, people should be the ones that are controlled. During this decision, people from different organizations have expressed their own views and thoughts. Gun control has both positive and negative effects on U.S. citizens.
According to a World Health Organization study done in 2010, the Unites States of America has the fourth highest firearm homicide rate in the world after Afghanistan, Iraq and the Congo. More recently, a study done in 2013 by the Center for Disease Control found out that there were a total of 33,169 deaths with the use of firearms and more than half were a result of suicide. These statistics have sparked an extensive amount of modern debates on whether we as an American democracy need to amend the second amendment and regulate the purchase of as well as the right to individually bear arms. Two people who analyze this debate very differently but effectively are Zack Beauchamp who wrote “Rethinking the Right to Bear Arm”, and Nelson Lund who
Original: Mass shootings and gun homicides are two main ways these occur. Additionally, these killings occur throughout society in places that should be safe such as movie theaters, night clubs, and schools. In the United States in 2015, a total of 372 mass shootings occurred. These incidents resulted in killing 475 individuals and injuring 1,870 more (Oldham 2016). It is quite clear that these numbers are too high. If nothing is done to prevent these numbers from continuing to rise, America will shortly become a place that nowhere is safe including people’s own
Imagine this: you are in World History class at your high school almost falling asleep learning about Ancient China. It is a normal day for you and your classmates, until you hear an announcement from the principal. You expect the typical lockdown drill, but this situation is far from typical. A man with a gun breaks into your school. BANG! Several of your classmates are killed before this man can be controlled. You survive, but live the rest of your life thinking back to that day and wonder if you could’ve done anything differently. What you should be asking yourself is how did this crazy man get a gun? Although this situation is hypothetical, it has occurred several times in the United States. This is due to the loose gun laws of the United States. The Second Amendment protects the right for all citizens to have guns to form militias and fight against a tyrannical government. While this was built into the original constitution, it is causing many unnecessary problems in the U.S. today. Also, this definition carries little weight with militias no longer existing today. The United States should reassess gun control laws, resulting in decreased gun violence, and ultimately saving countless innocent lives.
Do you think that the government can't regulate how many guns you can own? The year 2015 was an all time high for gun sales, it was a smashing record of 23.1 million guns sold. As gun sales are increasing so is the rate of gun related crime. We should not be able to own whatever gun, of whatever quantity that we want.
We have witnessed them to often in post offices, schools, universities, movie theater, restaurant, nightclubs, businesses, et al. America has come to the point where it's time to take action against these mass shootings and make our country safe to live. How is it that no other developed nation has nearly as many mass shootings as us? It all goes back to the U.S. Constitution granting America the civil right to carry firearms. The Amendment was originally put in place to protect people, but it is no longer doing that. It's time we amend the constitution and American society to limit guns by doing this we can hopefully alleviate American fears. Let’s not continue to give mentally disturbed people a weapon of mass destruction because if you give someone the fuel to fire they’ll use
Did know that there are approximately 4.5 million firearms sold in the United States each year, and and estimated 2 million second hand firearms are sold each year? According to the IANSA (International Action Network on Small Arms of the United Nations), in the United States there are more than ten thousand gun homicides annually (IANSA). These statistics should shock every American. Gun control is the reason for these gross statistics. The strict laws on guns cases a lot of violent crimes, therefore the laws should be changed so that they are easier to buy, own, and protect oneself.
The Gun Violence Achieve states, “there have been more than 1,500 mass shootings in America since Sandy Hook in December 2012”. It appears that America has been in a constant state of grief, prayer, and remembrance from these atrocities that we continue to see across our country. But yet after each horrific event, it is as if they recede into our memory without any changes implemented regarding gun violence and national safety. Our country is not hopeless. There are steps we can collectively take to prevent such mass shootings from tearing our country apart.
To begin with, guns are not the problem. When mass shootings happen, we are so quick to blame the guns. The person behind the gun is the problem. Everyone wants stricter laws over how we need more gun control, but if we do end up having stricter laws on gun control that won’t change a thing. People are going to keep doing what they’re doing no
The legality of having guns and possessing firearms in the United States of America is well engraved within the Second Amendment of the nation’s constitution. However, the issue of gun regulation has remained a central topic in America’s public. Some people advocate for a total ban on gun possession, while others are totally against this idea. The shooting incident in Las Vegas weeks ago has raised controversial debates in the United States of America. In fact, the White House is concerned on the stand that President Trump will take on the issue of stricter gun laws. One of the cities that has gained the attention of both the legislators on this topic is Chicago. For its reputation for its low rate of gang arrests, lax punishments for gun law violations, and comparatively weak laws in accordance with surrounding states, it is justifiable to say that Chicago’s daily shootings are a clear indicator that strict state gun laws don’t work.
