Picture sitting at home and cooking dinner, when all of a sudden you hear a knock on the door. Tap, tap, tap. You answer the door. A man stands there with a somber expression on his face. He tells you that your husband or wife has died in the war fighting for our country. This has happened many times. A lot of people die in the war for the American country, and their family is devastated by it. A man named Charles de Gaulle once said, “Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first…” My hope for the future is for the next generation, my generation, to appreciate those who have sacrificed by remembering, honoring, and emulating our veterans.
As you walk through life, do you think of the freedom that you have? Many people don’t. Through the years, our country has survived all of the attacks on us because of the people that risk their lives for us. As we walk around we don’t realize how many soldiers are out there today. In between 2009 and 2012 the U.S. would lose as many as 30 to 60 troops in any given month. We need to remember the veterans that have died in war and after the war.
In hope that we remember our veterans, we also need to honor them. The families with dead family members honor the veterans because they know what the

Do you know the consequences? When a person goes to war, it creates a ripple. People become afraid and even mad for that person’s safety. Some people are really happy for that person. The person becomes a soldier. They go into war and see people die. They come out of the war with the memories plastered in their mind. I honor these veterans because of all they do for us. I honor them for carrying that stress from the war with them. I honor them for fighting for us. I respect these veterans. Doc Hastings once said,” We owe our World War II veterans - and all our veterans - a debt we can never fully
As I recently traveled to Washington D.C. I visited an extremely empowering memorial - the Vietnam Veterans Wall. I walked along the endless panels and the thousands of names, I realized the impact that this war had on our country and that these names are actual people. They are brothers, fathers, sons, uncles, friends. These individuals left their family, their wives, their children. Some gave their lives, and some gave their sanity, but they all suffered for something much bigger. Many Americans fought in the Vietnam War - some against their will, many as young as 18 years of age. They risked their lives fighting for us, for our country and for a difference. Some soldiers returned home, and sadly, some did not. Many of whom arrived in April,
Marquis de Lafayette once said, “People serve, but the men who die leave a shiny wake on the water of time.” This means even though the veterans died we will always remember them for the choice that they made to save are country. The people who died for our freedom, made a choice to serve even though they knew they could possibly die for our freedom. The veterans that are serving now, or the veterans that had served will be remembered for what they did so we would have freedom.
US Veterans are proud to have served, but what if they stop caring and sharing the need for Freedom and our Republic to the future? Value our Vets, as they have kept Liberty and Justice alive, and will hopefully continue to inspire those who might make the same sacrifices again tomorrow. Veterans in today’s United States are less than 1% of the over 300 million in this country. I think Veterans are important for this reason today, and every day! Please see how important they are like I do.
It is important to always remember the sacrifices that they had to make to give us the freedoms we have today. For their spouses, it is difficult to keep their existing jobs, because they have to move every few years. They have to take care of their houses, and children without his or her help. Most of the Veterans had to pack up and move months at a time. They both could be worried about dying in battle and never seeing your spouse, children, or family ever again. They also miss holidays sometimes because they are drafted in at a certain time. Another sacrifice is their minds, some soldiers come back with post traumatic stress disorder because of what they had to go through. We should thank them for all the sacrifices they both make, because their sacrifices help us, and they should be honored for
The U.S. has been in multiple wars and in all of these wars there, have been people who have had to make sacrifices. They have made these sacrifices knowing all along that it was not going to be easy, but that did not stop them because the love they have for their country fueled them with strength and courage. When they return, they bring with them memories of loss and pain and all they want in return is that we remember those who did not make it back. We as a nation try to thank them, but what we do for our veterans is not enough, especially
Veterans sacrificed their lives for us. A lot of those soldiers never thought they would have to actually go out and hurt someone. Throughout the battle a lot of people were really bad hurt and a lot did not make it. A lot gave there arms, and legs for us. They didn’t run away they stood their ground and gave their lives for us. The ones that got hurt or had scars will be the ones you can tell that never ran. Those are the ones that mabey saw others run, but stayed with tears but keep going. For these reasons, we should always be respectful and be glad they did it for us.
Our nation past was, well, not always perfect. Without some of our veterans, our country wouldn’t be as free as it is. Veterans continue to make our country a free country, which also makes it a better place to live in. Veterans stood up for our country; whether the ones forced to go during the draft, or the ones who voluntarily go. Whether the cause, they were always ready to go and fight for the people’s freedom. We really do see how great these people are, I mean, they risked their life for ours to be
One often misinterprets the true meaning of war, believing it is only a dispute that is ended through fighting. In fact, war is more than just fighting. It is a battle where many brave souls lose their lives for protecting the country they love. Many of the rights we have today would not have been possible without the sacrifice of many brave American soldiers. Instead of living in a tranquil and prosperous nation, we could be living in a nation that resembles countries such as Africa, living under poor conditions and extreme poverty. It is imperative to take into consideration that the veterans we have today have made an impact on our nation and we owe much of our respect to them. Not many people have the courage to take on the heavy and overwhelming duty of going to war, knowing that death is imminent. Along with that, many of them have experienced traumatizing moments that have scarred them for life. Because of this, there is much appreciation and respect inclined towards
Some ways we can honor are veterans are what i am writing about today. It is really important we honor them because they have been through a lot to protect us. When i say that i mean mentally and physically. If you watched the video then you would see that millions of people died. That was probably very hard to watch. And they have to go through a lot of training. So one thing you could do is make a card. If you know a vet or have a friend who knows one this would be something very nice to do.
When the Founding Fathers designed this nation, they made a point to include the rights that our mother country, Great Britain, denied us. Even before our Independence, we thrived, served honorably by our great military. In fact, the United States spends more on our military than the next seven top spenders, showing how important it really is. Accordingly, we really need to honor our veterans, they have helped to keep our country free, they stand up for our rights as citizens of this splendid country, and particularly this world, and they risk their lives for the lives of others, particularly yours and mine.
Any man or woman who goes to war to serve for our country should always remain recognized for their sacrificial decisions to protect all the people of the United States. That is why Veteran’s Day is so important to the not only the troops’ family, but to everyone. Individually we recognize the hard work that they do, the daily sacrifices they make, and putting their life on the line for our freedom and justice. Veteran’s day is for current troops who are serving and for former troops as a consequence to renounce their great doings. All veterans should always continue to obtain recognition for when they served no matter when or where it was. If it weren’t for our
America gave my generation Freedom and the right to vote. My generation should respect the veterans more and we should be thankful for our freedom. My generation should respect the veterans more because the fought for the rights we have today we should be thankful, we should not take granit for it. Another thing is that they fought and they lost their brother and they fought on even though they were mourning on their loss. The last thing is why should you disrespect your veterans without them we would not have the rights we have today.
Welcome to New Haven Middle School’s Veterans Day Assembly. A lot of people think it’s just another assembly that you go to and just listen to people talk, but it’s more than just that. It’s about honoring our loved ones and the fallen ones, the ones who came back injured or scarred for life. We go to airports and gym’s where a meeting s held to welcome home our soldiers. Some kids ask their parents or someone they know about who gives us our freedom. All they have to say is someone who fights for our country. Freedom is NOT free. It may seem free because certain people are out fighting to protect us and our country. Some people throw a party or a huge welcome home gathering or make tons of signs to show their thanks. I’m sure they love it but I’m also sure all they would want is a simple thank you.
It is important to remember how much of daily life is affected by the work of veterans. Walking on streets, going to school, eating at restaurants, and hanging out with friends all depend on the service of veterans. They may not receive the proper amount of recognition from the younger generations, but their work is appreciated. In actuality, they gained vital information that can be shared with the future generations. They have gained respect and honor for their duty for our
On July 28th, 1914, the first war was brought to our world. All because of an assassination. At this time, we thought the only resolution was war and that war would save us. Among the years, we have bounced between different war periods and times where people just want peace. There is a time that we need to fight for our rights and stand up, but there is also a time where we need to stand down and just deal with what is going on. Because of our veterans, most of the world has been living in peace because our soldiers fight the wars for us and there is so much thanks in the world for that. It is so very wrong that there are veterans out there that are homeless or are even struggling to get food. Not to mention all of the medical bills because of former injuries while serving our country. There is no reason they should have to worry about the cost of an injury that happened when they were serving our
