Something that is interesting about being a vet is that they also get to help treat marine animals. What I learned that confirmed my previous conceptions is they get to treat house pets, farm animals, and reptiles. What I learned that was disappointing is they get to help with human disease, since I don’t think I can handle working on people. What I learned that was exciting is that they get to work with marine mammals, house pet and farm pets.
One positive aspect of my career choice is that I would get to work indoors with all kinds of animals. While on the other side one negative aspect of my career choice is that I would have to work outside with all kinds of animals with a high chance of getting kicked bitten or scratched.
The job outlook
Throughout the past few years, I have contemplated back and forth constantly of what it is I might want to be when I graduate from high school and college. At first I thought maybe a lawyer, but I soon realized that I am not the type of person to argue against others. Maybe I could be a doctor, but too many people are in that profession or want to be in that profession as it is. After a while of long, hard thinking, I decided that I would apply my love of animals to my future career path, therefor I decided that I wanted to be a Veterinarian. A Veterinarian is a person, much like a doctor, who cares for ill or injured animals. Examples of some of the duties Veterinarians do are dress wounds, perform surgery, diagnose diseases, and even
After interviewing Dr. Jess our family vet, I discovered that you can get into vet school right off the bat, but it’s extremely difficult to get in due to the fact that less than 50% of applicants are accepted, therefore many receive their undergrad before vet school. Dr. Jess also told me lots on what veterinarians truly do. One negative I discovered is that there is lots of record writing and talking amongst the owner of the pet, and not as much hands on activity with the animals-- meaning lots of desk work which goes against my value of adventure. This is due to the fact that it’s important to educate people who are caring for their pets at home. But, one positive is that there is a lot less stress in this job, due to the fact that you are around animals that are scientifically proven to lower stress levels. Dr. Jess also said that one of the biggest reasons she loves her jobs is that helping animals actually makes a difference especially in the community, because it makes people happy. One thing Dr. Jess really emphasized was that you have to take a wider view upon the animal, and that you don’t just fix him or her up. You have to teach a client how to do things properly at home, in order to prevent future illnesses and or injuries. The profession of veterinary medicine involves so much more than just medicine, it’s a job of passion love and
The hard process a veterinarian goes through, allows for professional growth of knowing what to do to help animals .Growing up I still want to be a veterinarian and there are many schools that help with that. Veterinary would allow me to help animals almost everyday. Finally, Veterinary can influence people who want to know about animals to know what to do. I want people to take the learning to be a vet to help them become what they want
When people look back at their lives, a lot of them would like to think that they made a difference. One of these ways is by caring for an individual who could not take care of themselves. It would bring this person a sense of happiness and great relief knowing that they have done something to change an outcome, or potentially save a life. "Being a vet tech is a rewarding and life changing expierence" (Holmes 46) . Not only is being a vet tech rewarding and life changing, but it can help the world become a better place by saving one animal at a time. For someone who loves animals and spending time with them, being a vet technicians is the most suitable career choice.
At Seaworld, the Human Society Of The United States met behind closed doors to negotiate the end of the breeding program. Most of the animals are left in the sun without shade covering them. Many of the orcas at seaworld were kidnapped and forced there. Many of This can severely burn and injure the animals. The animals who are at seaworld are not treated the right way. They are sometimes left all day without being feed. These animals are not treated and cared for in the proper way. “Animals are not here to entertain, feed, clothe, or cure humans—that they are not property,” spoken by Catherine Gourley. Many animals at SeaWorld are sometimes beaten by their keeper, if they do not perform their routines right.
There are many kinds of veterinarians. There are vets that specialize in common house pets like, cats and dogs, vets that take care of exotic creatures like, lizards and snakes, and vets that treat large animals like, horses and cows. For my future career I chose a large animal veterinarian. A large animal veterinarian can treat animals from the zoo to the farm. They mainly work with horses and cattle but they know how to treat other animals. A large animal vet needs to know several types of math and how to use each type in their daily work.
From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal’s life in more ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Veterinarians are also able to diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of not just pets but also livestock and wildlife ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). It goes beyond the annual vaccinations.
Animals have played a big part in my life, I have always had some sort of animal ever since I was born. Growing up I've had dogs, hamsters and fish and I have loved all of them deeply. This love for animals has showed me that I want to work with animals for the rest of my life. Becoming a Vet Tech is a great job because I get to see animals all day every day and I get to care and love for them.Vet Techs provide care for all animal's, anywhere from dogs, cats, exotic pets, lab animals and zoo animals. They help animals recover from injury, illness and help maintain animal's overall health. Vet Techs are commonly called ''nurses'' for animals, having the same jobs nurses have but just for animals.
Growing up, animals have played a very substantial role in my life, and remain to today. These animals include dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, turtles, and more. My initial interest in veterinary sciences was evoked at the young age of nine years old, when my horse was in labor. I recall the veterinarian arriving and asking me if I would like to assist him in delivering my horses foal. He walked me through the steps in which he was taking, and with every explanation, I became exceedingly more intrigued.
Becoming a veterinarian takes a lot of hard work and many years of schooling, but it is an immensely satisfying job for those that are comfortable with and passionate about working with animals as well as people. Veterinarians offer medical care to by diagnosing and treating sick animals, which are often household pets, farm animals, and zoo animals. While looking into becoming a veterinarian, many factors of the job need to be taken into consideration: education and experience requirements, working facilities, job outlook, advancement opportunities, salary and wages, tasks performed, and advantages and disadvantages.
When I was five, I said to my mom, “ I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up”, a phrase that every parent hears their child say at some point in their life, knowing that it is only a temporary phase. However, my determination to become a veterinarian has only increased with age and added experience in the veterinary medical field. It is assumed that I want to be a veterinary simply because I love animals and that is not false. But being a good veterinary to me means so much more. Being a good veterinarian is knowing how to accommodate and relate to the owners needs as well as the animals, its knowing how to put physical symptoms and diagnostic test results together to effectively treat the patient, and its knowing that that with every success
In the United States today there are fewer animal-lovers today than there used to be. There are a lot of animals in the world, and there are not enough to take care of them all. Although this career may not be awesome, easy or even ecstatic. I on the other hand however believe its challenging, being a vet can be the sweetest job ever chosen.
Many veterinarians are specialized in the treatment of a specific group of animals. The main types of veterinarians are small animals veterinarians, large animals veterinarians, marine veterinarians, wildlife veterinarians, and equine veterinarians. But all veterinarians have the same goal; to treat as many veterinarians as they are able to. A veterinarian is not a routine job. Each day is different and the unexpected can happen unexpectedly each and every day (“Veterinarians”).
Since as far back as I can remember, I have loved animals; especially cats and dogs. At first, I wanted to work as a cashier at Petsmart. As I aged, I realized it’s very difficult to make a good living as a cashier anywhere. I set my sights a little bit higher: Becoming a veterinarian. Ever since I made this decision in elementary school, I have worked exceptionally hard to achieve this goal. I recently graduated high school as a valedictorian in a class of nearly 400. Through my senior year of high school, I shadowed at my local veterinary clinic to better understand what I will be doing for the rest of my life. The experience just made me even surer that helping animals is definitely what I want to do for my career.
(Labor, 2014) Also, giving the animals a thorough check-up when they need it. The responsibilities I would like to do would be examining the animals, prescribing them medications, and giving them check-ups. I would not mind performing surgeries but it would not be my favorite part about the job. To become a veterinarian you most likely love animals but you need to be able to not become attached to them because when you are performing a surgery or having to put an animal down it will make it even harder for you to do.
