DACA: Trump Leaves 800,000 ChildrenLliving in Fear
After my parents divorced, my sisters and I would go visit my dad in Arkansas every summer, but the only problem was that my older sister was never able to go with us on the plane. I never understood why until I got older and my sister came to me. She thought she would never be able to go to college and follow her dreams to become a doctor because she had found out that she was undocumented. It wasn’t until 2015 that my undocumented sister had the chance to become a DACA recipient.
On September 5th 2017, the current president of the United States of America, Donald Trump destroyed the lives of a generation of immigrants by deciding to put an end to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). DACA is an American immigration policy that allows some individuals who entered the country as

In my opinion, this counter-argument is invalid because 800,000 benefited from DACA and it wouldn’t be fair to take that away from them to the point where they wouldn’t have anything left, he was just trying to do the right thing. Majority of people in the US are against DACA because they think that dreamers are receiving “special treatment”. “Denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing to same jobs to go to illegal aliens” (Jordan). Everyone has their own opinions, but it’s not fair to say that immigrants are receiving special treatment, they didn’t choose to be born in a different country they are just trying to make their parents proud of them, especially since their parents brought them here to have a better life and a better education. Believe it or not, they worked hard to be where they are today. Immigrants are here to stay, this is their country
On September 5, 2017, Michael D. Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis wrote the article, Trump Moves to End DACA and Calls on Congress to Act. On this day, President Donald Trump said that he would be putting an end to the DACA Program that was created during Barack Obama’s Presidency. President Trump is now discussing the issue of revoking DACA due to his early comments in the election about immigration laws, “The announcement was an effort by Mr. Trump to honor the law-and-order message of his campaign, which included a repeated pledge to end Mr. Obama’s immigration policy, while seeking to avoid the emotionally charged and politically perilous consequences of targeting a sympathetic group
I feel that DACA is a great opportunity for immigrants like our founding fathers to start a new life. Many people come to America as a vacation but then see how amazing our great country is and stay to continue the path of becoming an American citizen. Mr. Trump is willing to support DACA along with not revising DACA as long as congress funds for a border wall along with other demands.
The United States of America was founded by immigrants, and immigrants have made it what it is today. Recently the question, “ Is it right for President Trump to repeal DACA?” has come up. Everyone has shown that this is now an easy decision because on one side we have these children so scared of leaving the United states and being sent to a country they do not know. On the other side these children were brought over illegally. So the answer to this question is no, it is not right for Trump to send these people back. First, America is there home. Second, over a billion dollars a year would be lost due to the money the Dreamers would not be paying
It was his decision to announce, on September 5, that his administration would be winding down the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a program he didn’t mention outright, that many people didn’t know about and even fewer understood. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, which has protected nearly 800,000 young adult unauthorized immigrants from deportation and allowed them to work legally since 2012. The immigrants protected through DACA grew up in the US; people might not assume they are unauthorized immigrants, and they might not have even known it themselves until they were teenagers. The program was supposed to give them a chance to build a life here. Now, DACA is on the chopping block. Trump, under pressure to make a decision about it’s future before September 5 (the day a group of Republican state officials were set to sue over its constitutionality), has decided that no one new will be protected under the program and that those currently covered will start to lose
Daca enables young people to follow their dreams and with trump trying to cancel daca it has devastated the nation, yet he says we have 6 months till Congress makes a decision on either to legalize Daca, or to cancel it , it should not have to be a decision to make.So many children and teenagers are getting their lives torn apart, all accomplishments and achievements, all their effort they put into their lives, jobs and education, would be for nothing. He's taking jobs and educational opportunities away from innocent people who are the ones that are “making america great” again, then the ones that are living in america, not even taking advantage of the opportunities they are given in this country. Most teens who do have the opportunity to get a good education and a good job, usually end up taking it for granted, they don't appreciate what they have, and don't see what others would do to have what they have.
Everyday on the news you hear a new topic that refers to something President Trump wants to do, has done, or is doing at the moment. Half of the country seems to either be with or against him on choices he makes or the way he addresses things. One topic that is being discussed and talked about greatly is DACA. DACA was a policy made by Barack Obama back in 2012 to provide temporary protection to illegal immigrants, primarily focused on children. DACA means “deferred action for childhood arrivals” and it provides the option for a renewable 2 year period of deferred action of deportation. This gives eligibility for a work permit in the states. The united states president, Donald Trump, wants to terminate this policy.
The claims are they use government funded taxpayer money to benefit them also with a lot of dreamers there are many boundaries in education such as language and learning boundaries, but thanks to the dreamers our economy is actually stronger. Dreamers give us a larger tax base and more business. The DACA program has almost 800,000 immigrants who have been given the gift of working legally, getting a driver’s license, going to college, and severing in the military. 70 percent of DACA recipients hold a job with better pay, which leads to big purchases for example two-thirds of dreamers buy their first car and one in six buy a home. It is also reported that dreamers pay billions of dollars in federal, state, and local taxes.
With the plans to end DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the fear of deportation has increased amongst Godinez Fundamental High School students and their families.
Immigrants within the DACA program do pay taxes, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy estimates the amount paid in taxes by immigrants to be around 2 billion dollars. Being in the DACA program also does not qualify this group of people for the same benefits as citizens. For example, DACA recipients do not qualify for Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act. There should not be worry about the participants benefiting from the U.S. without giving to society. The concerns about crime and violence coming with the recipients of DACA are wrong because the regulations and checks each recipient must follow. Referring to the previous sections where I discussed the regulations, each immigrant wishing to benefit from the program must prove
Do you believe repealing DACA will stop illegal immigrants? Certainly not. At the beginning of the presidential campaign, president Trump caused a lot of controversy and concern about the absurd remarks about “illegal immigrants are drug traffickers and rapists”. This shows that the accumulation of illegal immigrants on the issue has been very serious. At the implementation level, it will lead to a fierce confrontation between a large number of law enforcement personnel and immigrant groups. Terminating DACA, this tough and unwelcome policy does not help to solve problems. It will raise the conflict between the government and people and make the problems more complicated.
The DACA program is a policy, which is abbreviated for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. DACA is administrative relief from deportation. The purpose of the act is to protect eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States as children from deportation. The Deferred act gives young undocumented immigrants a work permit and protection from deportation. DACA increased the wages and labor force participation of DACA eligible immigrants.
Immigration has been a burning issue lately, particularly after Donald Trump’s immigration ban in the United States of America. It has been a topic that families discuss every morning with breakfast. Despite many concerns related to immigration, it has several positive benefits that mostly outweighs the negativity. People bizarrely argue when it comes to immigration, but these arguments are primarily based on facts and ideas that are outdated or inconsistent and blindfold the positive aspect related to immigration. Many immigrants in the United States are good workers who don't depend upon any public welfare and mostly help in the overall development of the economy. As a country made by immigrants, we must not forget the fact that immigrants have helped to build cities and create a path of development form Google to iPhones (Gray & Furman, 2012). These facts are secluded, and some related arguments with different content have been repeated for years and continue. Immigrants have a lot to give the United States rather than to take, especially when it comes to economic terms.
Trumps decision to end DACA was based that his administration was being threatened by states like Texas, Arkansas, West Virginia and Kanas, that they will sue if they do not take steps to end the DACA program by September of this year. If we look at how many people will affected by this which is 800,000 young adults. These people will be in threat of being deported to a country where they have never been to. Majority of these kids have been here since they were new born to toddlers. They don’t see what kind of damage they will be causing not only to them but also the
On June 15, 2012, President Barak Obama gave a brief speech on a new Department of Homeland Security Immigration policy. This new policy will benefit thousands of undocumented students living here in the United States that were brought by their parents since they were young children from their native home. A policy called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. As President Obama mentioned in his speech about what undocumented students are, he mentioned part of a sentence that got to me. President Obama stated the following, “They are Americans in their
In the United States, there are hundreds of thousands of people whose safety in this nation is in jeopardy. The recipients of DACA, a deportation protection program, rely on its benefits to remain in the US. Not only does DACA keep many people safe, but it provides a variety of benefits outside of simply being protected from deportation. The impacts of DACA on society, the economy, and health vastly outweigh the possible negatives it has on the United States.
