Neptune means:
At first, Neptune was the god of water, but later, this was extended to include the sea when he became associated with the Greek god, “Poseidon”.
What does this planet look like?
Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. The deep blue color of Neptune comes from its atmosphere. Neptune also has a system of rings. Neptune’s rings are made of ice particles coated with carbon-based materials, giving them a reddish color or shade. Neptune sometimes shows a dark spot known as “the great dark spot”. Neptune has 14 different moons. Neptune’s largest moon is called Triton. Triton is the only large moon in the solar system to orbit in the opposite direction to its planet’s rotation, this is known as a retrograde orbit. The distance of its orbit is 354,759 km. Its orbit period takes 5.9 days (retrograde). Triton was discovered by William Lassell. Neptune has 5 rings. Neptune is very cold compared to Earth. It is -214 degrees Celsius. Neptune is the smallest of the ice giants. Despite being smaller than Uranus, Neptune has a greater mass. Below its heavy atmosphere, Uranus is made of layers of hydrogen, helium, and methane gases. Jupiter Research Jupiter is the fifth and largest planet in our solar system. This gas giant has a thick atmosphere, 17 moons, and a dark, barely-visible ring. Its most prominent features are bands across its latitudes and a great red spot, (which is a storm). Jupiter is composed mostly of gas.
Thousands of years ago, the ancient Greek civilization had a god for everything that they could have thought of. One such god was Poseidon. Poseidon was the god of the sea and horses (Gil). Symbols that represented Poseidon included the trident and dolphin(Gil). He became one of the most well known of the gods because of his fierce temper and his adulterous ways. Poseidon was also part of many battles, such as the Trojan Wars. (Poseidon: Greek) He also caused many hardships for Odysseus as he returned home from the war.(Gall 49). Poseidon was a lustful (Gall 48) being who showed signs of violence and was also known to hold fierce grudges against those who wronged him (Poseidon).
Astronomers have identified plenty of objects that were circulating the sun farther away from Neptune since the year 1992. According to research, there are more than 70,000 of these small objects named as Trans-Neptunians, which had a diameter that was larger than 100 km. Also, these objects extended from Neptune’s orbit from 30 astronomical units (AU) to 50 astronomical units. There is a thick band in which these Trans-Neptunians were restricted in and this ring was named as the Kuiper Belt. One may ponder what is the significance of the Kuiper Belt? Astronomers believe that the objects within the Kuiper Belt may be the ancient remains from the early stages of development of the solar system.
Pluto, a dwarf planet, and Uranus, a planet, take turns being the most distant of the major bodies of our solar system in reference to the Sun For years, scientists were under the mistaken hypothesis that Pluto was the most distant. Scientists, in an attempt to study astronomical data, learned their hypothesis was inaccurate. Fortunately, it is of the scientists nature to investigate all data. On the basis of the data, the astronomers learned of the fact Uranus and Pluto have intersecting orbits. In addition, during the course of their investigation, they learned much of the nature of Uranus and Pluto.
In the Solar System there is nine planets total counting Pluto and eight not counting pluto. Named after the Greek god of the underworld Pluto is the ninth of the nine planets from the sun. Pluto was discovered in February 18, 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh. Plutos the only orbit planet in the Solar System after it was classified as an orbit planet back in 2006. The planet has nine moons total Charon, Hydra, Nix, Kerberos, and Styx. Although Pluto is the largest Dwarf Planet it's smaller than most moon of the other planets. Alongside Pluto is the eighth planet from the sun otherwise known as Neptune. Due to its blue coloration Neptune was named after the Roman god of the Sea. As mentioned earlier, Pluto has a rather unusual orbit. Pluto, while it is the furthest planet from the sun, for twenty years during its two-hundred and forty nine year orbit, it is actually the eighth planet, crossing over Neptune’s orbit. Regardless of the fact that the orbits of the two planets cross, their orbits will not allow for them to ever collide. This is mainly due to Pluto’s orbiting not staying in the elliptic plane. Because of its unusual orbit, Pluto travels above and below Neptune as the cross, avoiding collision. What also allows these two bodies to cross paths and avoid impact is that when Pluto is at one side of the sun, Neptune is at the other. This is a result of Pluto taking three times as long to make one orbit around the sun in comparison to Neptune.

Neptune is blue, as you can see, and looks almost like the sky.” Rarity loved this planet the most, because she loved when she was at home, she could lay on the ground and stare at the sky and try to find shapes in the clouds. Neptune was as beautiful as a sunny day in summer when she would do exactly that. Rarity could stare at this planet all day long, and since the tour guide knew that Rarity and a lot of the other kids loved this planet so much, they decided that it would be a perfect spot to stop and sleep. Rarity knew they couldn’t go on this planet because it’s another gas giant and it has no surface, but she was still excited that she could sleep right beside it. Her room in the rocket ship had a perfect view of Neptune and so she stayed up almost all night, watching Neptune rotate and watch everything move so quietly. Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is the only planet that is larger. The gas giant is 72 thousand miles in diameter, almost ten times the size of Earth. In spite of its huge size, though, Saturn weighs very little. It is a very light gas planet. Saturn is the least dense planet in the solar system-- so light, in fact, that it would float in water. This planet is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium, like Jupiter, but it is much less dense. The combination of its light weight and fast rotation causes Saturn to spread out, or oblate, its center. Since Saturn is a gas planet, it does not have a solid surface. Spacecraft are unable to land on this type of surface. The clouds that are seen when looking at Saturn are just the top layer of a very deep layer that covers a center of liquid hydrogen. The clouds are blown by constant winds that reach speeds up to one thousand miles per hour at the equator of the planet (“Great Space Place”).

The knowledge of what the inner core is made up is still and will remain unknown until we can create a satellite that can make into the atmosphere of Jupiter and the other gas planets. Jupiter's atmosphere was also found to be quite turbulent. It is also know that Jupiter spins faster than any other planet. This indicates that Jupiter's winds are driven in large part by its internal heat rather than from solar input as on Earth. The vivid colors seen in Jupiter's clouds are probably the result of subtle chemical reactions of the trace elements in Jupiter's atmosphere, perhaps involving sulfur whose compounds take on a wide variety of colors, but the details are unknown. The colors correlate with the cloud's altitude: blue lowest, followed by browns and whites, with reds highest. Sometimes we see the lower layers through holes in the upper ones. Then we have the Great Red Spot that everyone can identify as Jupiter. This reddish color of the “Great Red Spot” is a puzzle to scientist, but several chemicals, including phosphorus, have been proposed as a reason. In fact, the color and mechanisms driving the appearance of the entire atmosphere are still not well understood. This spot has been seen by Earthly observers for more than 300 years. Robert Hooke discovered it in the 17th century. The GRS is an oval about 12,000 by 25,000 km, big enough to hold two Earths. Another interesting feature about Jupiter is that it
