The Better Alternative When choosing a vehicle that would get you from one place to another, would you not choose the better alternative? In discussions of vehicular transportation, one controversial issue has been whether or not people should use electric cars or gas powered cars. On one hand, others contend that people should not use gas powered cars over electric cars.On the other hand, people argue that gas powered cars should be used over electric cars People should use electric cars because they are better for the environment, are cheaper and the government provides better incentives than gas powered cars. When it comes to gas powered cars, there are some reasons why it’s morely prefered. First of all, the electric car is still relatively new, while gas powered cars have been around since the beginning. The transition to an electric car may not be so easy, as having a gas car is what everyone is used to. The gas powered car can also travel longer distances, due to having more power than an electric car as an electric car can travel about 100 miles in one charge. However there are many other reasons why an electric vehicle is the better choice for transportation purposes. …show more content…
Gas powered cars are one of the major causes of global warming , and air pollution. Gas powered cars are able to create a lot of carbon dioxide that harm the environment. These cars can also spill certain fluids that can harm the environment. Some of these fluids are motor-oil, gasoline and brake fluid. These fluids can harm humans as well as animals, and can pollute our water systems. Electric cars on the other hand are better for the environment. They use half the energy of a gas powered car, so they don’t cause as much pollution in the air. They also use cleaner energy; electricity, which doesn’t harm the environment as much as
Electric vehicles should be big a consideration for the world. Our planet is suffering a lot due to climate change. It’s caused by burning fossil fuel and releasing its gas into the air and most cars today run on fossil fuel and it’s damaging our planet. Electric cars are clean energy vehicles, meaning it doesn’t damage the world. This is the main reason while society needs to consider manufacturing more electric cars and make them affordable and more well known. If a big part of the world’s population used electric cars instead of cars that runs of gas, it would be very beneficial to the world. But even with this huge benefit that
Electric cars may not be as environmentally friendly as society portrays them to be. Forbes.com states that electric cars tend to be just as polluting to the environment as traditional gas powered cars. In order to transfer energy to the charging station for the cars, the factory that makes the energy must burn carbon in order to power the charging station. The charging stations are what produce the pollution, not the vehicle. Although there has been a push for alternative energy in automotive production, electric cars are just as contaminating to the atmosphere as traditional gas-powered cars.
Electric vehicles (EV’s) are better because they do not run on fossil fuels, and cause very little pollution, but those are not the only things that make EV’s better than gasoline run vehicles. By purchasing an electric car consumers can save hundreds of dollars each year throughout the long-lasting lifetime of an electric vehicle while helping the environment. Electric vehicles are more efficient than gas run vehicles, safer for the environment, and EV’s cost less than other fuel powered vehicles.
I. Electric cars provide a viable alternative to gasoline-fueled cars because the benefits outweigh the costs. The nature of the transport system can also be said to be in a dire state of affairs in which things need to change. The environmental impact of exhaust fumes here in the United States and the rest of the world are harmful.
Gas cars and electric cars have a myriad of differences. For example, Electric cars can’t go as far of a distance on a full charge compared to a gas car with a full gas tank. Gasoline cars can be refilled with gas in a short amount of time while electric cars take a long time to recharge the battery. Electric cars are more expensive than common gas cars. Since there aren’t many electric cars being driven around, repair shops will probably be unfamiliar with repairing them compared to gasoline cars so repairs might take longer or something else
Cars are very important in our daily life and are very common. Most of cars out there right now are gasoline powered cars which many people would agree that it is harmful to our environment compared to electric cars which are not so common but are invented to reduce environmental issues. Comparing electric and gasoline cars, electric cars should cost more than gasoline cars, because of its high production cost; low maintenance cost, which can save owners more money in long term; and to maintain our economy stable, especially our oil market.
Expenses that both gas and electric cars have are tires, brakes, and windshield wipes. However, vehicle maintenance costs can rack up over the lifespan of a car, especially with ICEs (internal combustion engines), engine maintenance can be very expensive, even more so with an older car. Add in changing oil, engine coolant, and other miscellaneous fluids the money can add up very quickly over time. As for electric vehicles, they don’t have these expenses. Although, they are not without expenses. For example, a new battery could cost a significant amount of money to replace, but with these cars mostly being very new and under warranty this would not be an issue the owner would have to worry about paying for. Electric cars, even with the proposed risk of replacing a battery, are still significantly more cost effective over the long run than gas powered
Which car the American people choose to purchase can either save lives or destroy them. If the nation decides to obtain an electric car rather than a gasoline or diesel fuelled automobile then the vehicle would not cause air pollution. The main problem with diesel cars is that they emit the most emissions out of all cars a person could choose. Pollution causes health risks that can actually kill people. Children are highly affected when it comes to pollution, since their bodies are still developing. If these children have lung problems or asthma, it could escalate those effects and cause them to die at a young age. Electric cars emit no emissions and do not cause any pollution, that is why they are the new era of vehicles. When choosing a
Some people have also adopted the hybrid car trend, although many people think hybrid cars help the environment as well. Hybrid cars still uses some form of a gasoline when it is being used, thus creating carbon dioxide emissions. Whereas, the electric vehicle produces no emissions.
Many people are debating whether they should invest in an electric car or not. The pros with electric cars is that it is much better for the environment than gasoline powered cars. The gasoline cars release toxic subjects into the air which is harmful for both the environment and us humans. Another pro with driving an electric car is that individuals will save lot of money since they do not have to pay for gas anymore. For example, for someone who drives twelve thousand miles per year, the driver would have to pay around $1,603 for gas. Meanwhile, a driver who drives an electric car for the same number of miles, only have to pay $449 for the electricity. Individuals would save $1,154 every year and at the same time do the environment a favor.
In the recent years there has been an increase of plug-in electric, hybrid type vehicles on the road. Many people would argue that hybrid vehicles are not a big thing and that they are insubordinate to the piston engine type vehicles. The matter of the fact is that electric vehicles are the way to go for many reasons from saving money to saving the environment and planet.
As the names suggest, both types of engines are powered differently; one through electricity and the other by burning gasoline fuel. Burning fuel has been creating a problem ever since the Industrial Revolution; our climate and environment is rapidly decaying as a result of global warming caused by the pollution from burning fuel and combustion cars are promoting that. Electricity engines on the other hand, does not require an exhaust and it does not discharge any pollution to the air.
Introduction: Although electric vehicles save money they do not go the long distances a gas vehicle can go. They are also cheaper than gas vehicles and better for the environment!
Electric vehicles are a fairly new thing, so charging station are not always available and plugging in at home can take hours compared to the one half hour it takes at a charging station. Electric vehicles also have great benefits. Electric vehicles convert more than double of their power to the wheels compared to a gasoline engine (“What Are Electric Cars”). Electric vehicles feel fast because the power is delivered instantly to the wheels. Another benefit of an electric vehicle is they are virtually silent (Wilson). Electric vehicles are good for city use, were the daily commute is short and access to power is readily available.
This power is generally collected from coal-fired power plants. Each one of these power plants are responsible for three and a half million tons of Co2 per year. The United States alone produces nearly ten billion tons of CO2 from coal-fired power plants. This is nearly one third of the 38.2 billion tons of Co2 produced by all sources. These cars are also limited on their range. A typical electric car can only travel around one hundred twenty five miles miles before being recharged. “The disadvantage of electric cars is that they usually can travel no more than 100 miles.” (Haverdink). Therefore using more electricity, causing the power plants to make more. Another disadvantage of electric cars is the time they take to charge. For example, “The major disadvantage of battery powered cars as we mentioned in the last section is the time required to recharge the batteries.” (Lampton). Rather than a gasoline car that you just fill up you have to plug these cars in. This typically takes up to eight hours, putting the electric car behind on long distance road trips. The electric car’s also need a special outlet to plug into, not found in typical homes. This cost extra money to have installed and if you need to charge somewhere it is hard to find. Also the electricity used to charge the cars isn’t free.
