The maze runner, by James Dashner is the first book in a thrilling post-apocalyptic science fiction trilogy.
Thomas wakes up in an elevator with no memory of his past, and when the doors open, he's surrounded by teenage boys who inhabit the Glade - an enclosed encampment right in the middle of a deadly stone maze. Like Thomas, the Gladers don't have any memories except their names, or know how or why they are there. All they know is that each morning when the walls open, they have to risk everything - even the Grievers, half-animal, half-machine horrors that patrol its corridors, to try and find out. A day after Thomas's coming, a girl is sent through the elevator and into the Glade. But, unlike the boys, she shows up mumbling a forewarning and then lapses into a coma. To make things worse, her arrival triggers the end in the Glade, and everything starts changing: the deliveries of

Thomas has to join forces with the other gladers in order to figure out the maze and have a chance of escape. In an act of desperation, Thomas stings himself with a Griever in order for his memory to come back and learns the Griever Hole is an exit. A large group of them agree to make a run for it, and succeed, only to find out that what they've been doing is an experiment being conducted by the maybe evil, maybe not Creators, a group named WICKED. The boys and Teresa then get "rescued" by some kind of rebel group and brought to a safe haven while being told about "the Flare"—an apocalyptic occurrence that killed off half of the world's population. The Conclusion exposes
Young adult fiction is a unique area in its own way, and one that incorporates forms of lives not common in society. The book, Maze Runner is a typical example of adult fiction in which the author presents scenarios involving various forms of life, which readers can learn from and apply to their own, as well. To begin with, by reading this book in class, students will not only learn about magic and terror, but also about sorrow, bravery, friendship as well as suffering in attempts to find redemption. Everything about this book is fictional but subsequent events from previous ones make things even more real. In the beginning, fiction is achieved when the main character, Thomas,
In the heart-pounding book, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Thomas, the main character, mysteriously appears in a place called The Glades. “He was consumed with curiosity but still felt too ill to look closely at his surroundings.” (pg 5). Thomas doesn't know how he got to The Glades and has forgotten who he is. He isn't alone, there are dozens of teenagers, even adults who also have no memory. Thomas asks questions, but questioning will get him killed by the Keepers. “Massive stone walls, hundreds of feet high, moving like sliding glass doors.” (pg 28). Every night the walls move as if they where closing in all the teenagers. Thomas is standing there watching the walls move and sees someone running towards the Glades trying to make it before the walls close. Chuck tells Thomas that those are the Runners running back in from the Maze, it looked like they where running from something that is trying
Then, inexplicably, Chuck was there, diving in front of him. Thomas felt as if his feet had been frozen in blocks of ice; he could only stare at the scene of horror unfolding before him, completely helpless.” Think: Many characters in The Maze Runner risked their lives to protect those around them in deeds of self-sacrifice. As Thomas and Teresa look for the Griever’s Hole, most of the Gladers are willing to risk their lives in order to protect them. While half of them get stung and die, it allows the rest of them time to escape.
Thomas thought the Maze was the last of it, no more puzzles and no more running, however, he was wrong. After escaping the maze, Thomas, Teresa and several of the other Gladers are put in dormitories for the night. Unfortunately, insane zombie-like people called Cranks have an infectious disease called the “Flare” and are out in the city hoping to find their next victim to hunt. Making matters worse, the “Cranks” next victims are the Gladers in the dormitories and the Cranks try to break in. Thomas and the rest of the boy Gladers find that Teresa has vanished, and a boy named Aris is found in her room.
The character Thomas in The Maze Runner arrives at a mysterious place called the Glade where his life changes forever. Thomas is a determined and brave individual because of his actions performed throughout the book. Thomas does what needs to be and avoids wasting time.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be kidnapped, and against your will be sent to a prison for doing nothing wrong? In addition, you would only be between the ages of 12-18. This sounds unbelievable but in the book the Maze Runner, this crazy tale comes true. Thomas is a 16-year-old boy who woke up in an elevator and all he heard was CLICK CLICK CLICK. ☺ It was the sound of the elevator moving up, and it was pitch black so he was unable to see anything.
Her name is Teresa. Teresa tells everyone that everything is about to change, then succumbs to a coma. Thomas feels a connection to her, but can’t figure out where he knows her from. Thomas then decides that he wants to be a Runner, Gladers who go out into the Maze in an attempt to map it and find a way out. While exploring the Maze, Alby is stung by a Griever. Minho, the leader of runners, attempts to get him back into the Glade before the walls close but they are not going to make it. Thomas sees them, then races out to help and becomes trapped outside in the Maze with them. The Maze is most dangerous at night because that is when the Grivers are most active. Despite being the most experienced, Minho panics and runs away leaving Thomas and Alby. Through wits and skill, Thomas manages to save himself with alby, and survive the night in the Maze. That made Thomas a hero and from that, Minho convinces the other Gladers to allow Thomas to become a Runner trainee. Thomas then begins training under Minho. He learns how the Runners map the Maze, looking for patterns to the maze every day. Thomas also visits Teresa who is still comatose. She begins to communicate with him telepathically and tells Thomas that she has triggered the end. The next day the sun has disappeared from the sky, replaced with a dull gray sky. Thomas realizes that the Glade is a fabricated place and that the sky was never real. Teresa tells
“bulbous, dark creature” that can shred a human apart in seconds. In the book the grievers are set in place to keep the humans out of the maze , or make it difficult to find a way out. I Believe this is a reference to the obstacles we can encounter in life, such as a bad professor or an overly angry boss. We hear the saying a lot, that life is not fair and we don't always get to choose who we work for or be around, this sounds like what the grievers are doing to the Gladers.
Where do I start by explaining the Grievers? The Grievers are petrifying, terrorizing creations that live in the maze and come out during the night. Their purpose is abundantly clear, kill any Glader in sight. They are said to be dark creatures, with many accessories such as rods, shears and spikes. Grievers make clicking and whirring sounds as they move. If a Griever “stings” a Glader and they get the Grief serum they go through a painful process called “The Changing”. If a Glader gets stung and does not receive the Grief serum they die. The Grievers guard the maze like watchdogs, their purpose in the maze is to stop Gladers from escaping and the only way to do that is to kill them.
The story all begins when Thomas arrived to the Glade with memories wiped, and then Alby introduced the Glade and the rules to him. One day or two days after Thomas came, Teresa arrived to the Maze, but she was in a coma. Then he was attacked by Ben in the forest, who had been stung by the Griever, and he almost died, but then Alby came and saved him, Ben was banished after that. Then Minho found a dead Griever, so Alby and Minho ran to the Maze to see the dead Griever, the Maze door close every night, but they didn’t returned back on time, so at the last second, Thomas squeezed to the door and went into the Maze. In the Maze, Thomas saved Alby and escaped from the Grievers, and they discovered the Griever Hole.
In pages 1-57 of the book The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Thomas loses his memory and is sent to the Glade, a place where about hundred teenagers are living, and he becomes scared as his first sight is a person suffering. Thomas makes his first friend named Chuck, his guide through the Glade, who tells him about a maze that opens and closes every day at morning and night. Thomas decides that he wants to be one of a runner, a person who runs in the maze to find a path through it, on the first day he is at the Glade. When Newt, one of the first people in the Glade, gives Thomas a tour, Thomas is told one person comes every month on the same day and food supplies come each week through a box. In the afternoon, the first girl comes through the
“The Maze Runner” by James Dashner is talk about the story of Thomas, a sixteen-year-old who finds himself in total blackness. When the blackness begins to ascend, he realizes that he’s in some kind of eerie elevator. When the elevator stop, he saw there are about 50 other boys who were come to the elevator, he does not remember anything about his past expect his name. He then meets the leader of the Gladers, a boy named Alby and another boy named Newt. Then there's Chuck, the last "newbie" to come to the glade who becomes good friends with Thomas. He saw there have a big wall with a big stone door. He trying to come near to the stone door but he was stopped by Gally, they told to him behind the door was a maze
The Gladers show this by being in a tough situation, but making the most of what they have to exit the maze. Thomas, Theresa, and the rest of the Gladers could have given up when they began being attacked, but they made the most of it to make it out alive. Also this is shown when the rebels come and save the day. On page 361 when the rebels take the opportunity to save the Gladers they say, “Just follow me and run like your life depends on it. Because it does.” This part of the book allows the rebels to take their opportunity and save the Gladers.
One by one they were all sent, one after the other every week through the elevator. Until one day nobody came up, all that was in the elevator was a note telling them that there was no more coming. Which had only been one of the strange occurrences that had happend after Thomas entered the glade. The boys and one girl in the glade had to find a way to escape, yet they were surrounded by a deadly maze with no way to get out. Read with them as they escape and find all the secerates the
Screeches erupted from each and every corner of the dark green maze, leaving its occupants scared and scarred. The noises grew in ferocity and lowered in pitch, wavering between calm and deformed, octave to octave. It stopped momentarily only for the screams to reach increasingly violent levels.
