Reading and writing have influenced billions of people all throughout the world, and for thousands of years. Language is one of the pieces that have moved humans so far above and beyond other species. Therefore, in first-world countries, it is almost impossible to find someone who has not been heavily influenced by literature. Books have influenced my life by giving me an enjoyable pastime and helping me decide what I want to do with my life. Writing has also helped me decide what I want to do in the future.
As Richard McKenna said, “Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, that helps to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” (McKenna, 26) This was especially true for me. I began reading on my own when I was age three. My mom would always read to me; one day she walked into my room and found me reading on my own. One of my favorite books was Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. Another book I loved was about a boy who shrunk to only a few

I was deeply moved by the problems that these kids faced, which made me want to aid others with their mental health issues. Actual psych wards probably aren’t similar to the one in the book, but that made me even more interested in psychology. So far, this dream has stuck with me. Hopkins’ use of poetry to narrate the tales of the three teenagers also inspired me to write poetry and refueled my desire to write stories.
I started writing stories when I was in middle school. They were usually focused around romance, and they always had some sort of fantasy element in them. My plan was to finish writing a story and then upload it one chapter at a time online, but that never happened. Not one of the little stories I wrote was finished; I quickly moved from one story idea to the next. All of the stories are on my old laptop somewhere; however, I’m a little afraid to read them because they were
Literature has the power to free. Books have the strength to break the bondages of slavery, both literally and figuratively. Literature has the ability to give enslaved men hope for a different life and the drive to achieve it. Books have the power to shatter the racism and the prejudice found in every corner of the world and free the people who are locked into the stereotypes of their race, their religion, their family, their friends, their neighborhood. Even zealous individuals, who feel strongly about their religion or their views on racism and controversial issues such as abortion, marijuana, or LGBT rights, can be changed by one book. Prejudiced minds and racist hearts are nothing to the power of literature. Books and poems, short stories and plays have all changed lives. To some people, reading takes them to other places, places they could never afford to go to, nor have the chance to go. Books help them understand why some people think a certain way, or it helps them forget their problems. Books feed different perspectives, and help erase prejudices. Though, to be honest, looking at the other side of the coin, it can also strengthen biases that are already in place. Regardless of people’s stances on issues, some find solace in reading; others find solace in writing. Anne Frank said, “I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” Books inspire people. Just
“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are,” (Cooley). Reading has impacted us in many ways throughout our lives. Often time’s books give people different perspectives on their lives. People with high stress levels often find comfort in reading books to take their mind off of their concerns. Sometimes, people just need to take a step back from their life and relax for a while; therefore, reading is a great tool. Reading all kinds of books has also helped me become a better writer. There are many different books that have impacted me over the years.
Writing is the fundamental building block for all advances in any field. Cooking, math, technology and everyday life depend on writing. Without writing one would have to rely 100% on memory. Often times people take writing for granted. Any of life's luxuries wouldn’t exist because one person wouldn’t be able to communicate to the net and keep evolving ideas. Writing has affected the work in various ways, everyday life, entertainment and learning wouldn’t be the same without writing.
This story is about how my reading and writing changed throughout my life going through school. When I started in kindergarten I couldn’t spell my name that well. I had trouble reading and writing, and it took me so long to understand what I was doing wrong because I’m a person that thinks that I’m always right and never wrong. As I went through elementary school, I had a problem with writing neatly, writing in complete sentences, and reading big words. When I was in elementary school I was a student that didn’t like to write during unless it was about something that interested me. Other than that the only time I wrote was when I was required to for school. As each of those five years went by I hated writing in a way, but I hated reading even more with each year that went by. The reason I hated writing during elementary school so much was because
How does writing affect me? Writing presents three different experiences; illustration, inspiration, and indulgence. Growing exceedingly rapidly, my love for illustrations has been the center of my love for writing. This love thrives on the fascinating indulgence of completing an impeccable paper. As I entered into high school I discovered a love for writing that would be tested by the lack of inspiration.
¨A thunder of the battle spreaded through the battlefield. Horns called brave heroes to fight till the last drop of blood. Dark shadows covered a blue sky piece by piece, and a last hope was hidden behind black clouds. A sound of thousands and thousands of weapons echoed from East to West, from South to North. Rain started pouring its heavy waters on courageous warriors, and...¨ I stared into this ¨and¨ without any idea what followed after that. I stood up: my body was sore after few hours of non-stop writing. My body felt a need in stretching or going for a walk, but I personally felt a need in a 5th cup of hot tea and a bag of cookies, so I could continue writing my story.
Today, writing is a very important concept we all need to have the hang of. Through the years I have realized how much writing really does affect our lives. In the beginning, I will admit that my writing skills needed some work and actually, they still do. Writing has shaped my life to have better communications skills when they are needed and shows what I am capable of. I have worked retail for the past four years and being a front-end store supervisor I have learned to communicate quite well with my district manager. Learning to communicate on a professional level with the district manager allows me to show my ability on how I can handle work related situations. I have gained a lot of knowledge by being able to take in consideration
Litereature pushes boundaries, gives us information to better make decisions to attain more knowledge which in turn changes cultures, and changes the way people think. Literature can promote understanding and acceptance, or it can insight change and rebellion. Literature can also promote individualism and self-awareness.
The people and things that surround an individual have a great effect on one’s personal habits and life, and I have discovered that reading has shaped my life through my whole family and how we all think
From the moment that I was able to read on own, my life completely changed. I lived in the library, once a week my mother drove me there to pick out a slew of books for the upcoming week. The first book that I read on my own was Curious George, I used to read it aloud to my mother every night before I went to bed. Another person whom I share many reading memories with is my older brother, who was a very early reader. We used to burn through books together afterschool. We would switch off reading every page; our favorite read was the magic school book series. In second grade, My favorite class was english, because every week we had “Free Read Fridays”. Every friday the

Literature has a strong social power. It allows you to express yourself. It gives you a chance to muster your feelings and create something beautiful. It can help you make a change in the world. If you write about what you believe in, then you can spread
Everyday our lives are affected by literacy and most people do not even notice it. When I read a menu at a restaurant or a book from a library I do not realize how unbelievable it is to read such things. I do not notice how amazing and extraordinary it is to be able to have this privilege. Literature is everywhere and it not only changes our lives for the better but it also changes who you are and how you choose to see things.
The world is affected by many things everyday. There are natural occurrences like hurricanes, drought, and snow that affect Earth. But there are also things that affect the people living on this planet, like literature. Literature plays a big role in the behavior of people, whether they consciously know it or not. It can be a way to inspire people. If we look back, we can see where many people were inspired to be who they later became because of literature.
Reading is a very important way of communicating; developing imagination, discovering new things, feelings and also reaching wanted education. Reading literature especially, is very important for the foundation of life. In Literature we can see and imagine the whole world in a different perspective. It can teach the reader about life, from sad love stories to happy and joyful ones that will touch the reader's heart. In each story the reader can experience his or her own journey through which he or she can become more thoughtful and more insightful about themselves.
