It has been said that it produces 13-14% of the world’s electricity and it accounts for 6% of the world’s energy, France and japan make up 50% alone, and the U.S. has been producing 20% since 1991. What are the prospects for this resource in the future? They say that from now until 2040 that it will go up by 14% and that the generators will be updated and new fuel cycles. What are the pros and cons for each resource? Coal: Pros- its renewable, good supply, and its not that expensive to use, coal power plants are really reliable in other countries. Cons- it’s non-renewable, there’s a finite supply coal has carbon dioxide, which is the biggest reason that causes global warming. Nuclear energy: Pros- Nuclear power is generated using uranium or plutonium, Uranium is a highly radioactive material that needs to be generated, nuclear plants can be one of the most cost effective alternatives to fossil fuels, and countries don’t have to worry that much on fossil fuels and keep the atmosphere hazardous free. Cons- radioactive waste, which causes carbon dioxide. The excavation of uranium and plutonium causes devastation to the environmental they are stored in poor condition it can…
