Assessment task 1 Futsal is a form of association football, played indoors with five players on each side. This sport shares similar physical qualities to soccer. Futsal is a high demanding sport, as it is quick paced. As a small sided game, players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in a confined space. This game places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness on the player. Futsal is a great skill developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking and pinpoint passing. The speed of play forces the player to make quick technical and tactical decisions. I understand the required sequencing subroutines and timing. The amount of practise needed depends on my ability to be able to perform this skill. The correct demonstration has a big impact on this skill, as I need to learn how to acquire this in a game setting. I am not at the Cognitive stage, as I already know what is needed to perform this skill and I do not make a large number of errors. I have had time to practise this skill not in a game setting so that I accurately learn how to perform this skill using the correct technique. I can perform the skill “rolling the ball” fine when we are in prac lessons. As futsal is a fast paced sport I have not been able to acquire this technique in a game setting at this point in time. Rolling the ball is a technique that is used to get past the defender. This situation usually happens when you are one on one with an opponent. This particular technique involves your leg rolling over the ball, and usually at the same time dribbling the ball. The major muscle groups that this particular skill requires are the thigh, calf and ankle muscles. Calf muscles are used when you roll your ankle / leg over the ball and the same with you thigh muscles. Your ankle muscles are mainly for keeping the ball in control. There are many factors that affect the ability of players being able to learn new skills.
