Interested in the apparel business, I began to embroider clothing and sell it in school. I typically relied on word-of-mouth advertising but soon realized that there were better ways to advertise. As I moved my sales into the e-commerce world I learned about the power of social media as a marketing tools, I became intrigued by its ever-evolving ability to target audiences. Realizing that the industry is undergoing a new paradigm shift, I wanted to carve out a niche. As the traditional media is becoming obsolete, new opportunities are opening up on innovative platforms that help communicate in original ways. I saw and opportunity to become the modern day “Mad Men” or in my case a “Mad Woman” of my generation. The more I learn, the more I see how little I know about the business …show more content…

This was exactly what I was looking for! The ability to create businesses and collaborate with likeminded classmates in a “laboratory of entrepreneurship” environment is an exciting prospect to launch new companies and be guided through the process by experienced professors. Babson's curriculum would be an incredible opportunity for me to learn more about the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, organizational behavior, etc… I would be able to use this program in collaboration with my social media company by advertising for my team members in our start-up business. My preconceived knowledge in starting a business will help me and my group excel. Speaking to Hannah Moriggi, I learned further about the Babson Leadership Academy. Learning about leadership, through its various seminars, is vital for me in the business world as I will not only learn leadership skills by thinking, acting, and reflecting but also I will have the opportunity to network, something that is so important for an entrepreneur starting one’s own
