Knowing the difference between goals and objectives for an organization is an essential part of understating an organization as well as analyzing their services and programs. It is also important to decipher if those programs and policies are latent or manifest, or long-term or sort term goals and objectives.
The Community Counseling Services organization does not seem to explain their goals and objectives clearly. When first visiting the website it is clear what their list of programs and services are. It is also made clear who is able to utilize these services. Although each program states a specific purpose and need in which it is meeting, there are no direct measureable goals or objectives…show more content… There also seems to be no manipulability. Because the types of services and what they offer are defined clearly it would be hard to change those factors. But again this is in relation to the programs and services. There are no clearly stated goals or objectives that would be able to be manipulated, that is there are no’ factors that are open to change by a conceivable measure.’ (Chambers & Wedel, 2005).
From what can be inferred from the information given on the Community Counseling Services website, the goals and objectives of the programs and services that are offered are long-term. There is no real room for change within the defined parameters of the programs and services thus; it seems that the goals are long term. Also, the programs and services offered by Community Counseling Services all contain means in which help people and provide long or short term services based on their needs. The goals and objectives of Community Counseling Services are manifest. These goals and objectives are manifest because they are what drive the programs features and implementation.
In order to tell the difference between goals and objectives is to clarify what each requires. According to Chambers and Wedel, 2005, “a goal is a statement in general terms of desired qualities in human and social conditions”. Goals are broad and lead to different objectives.
