Human Intelligence The collection of intelligence is advancing and expanding their technology along with the different department. The US intelligence agencies are the glue of the intelligence collection, for that reason, is why, since Sptember11 tragedy there hasn’t been any terrorist attacks. The September attack had really shown us the limitation of the intelligence community, however, the capability and limitations of US human and technical intelligence collection program are alarmed, in my opinion. We have immense capabilities in gathering intelligence with few limitations The Human Intelligence is another critical part to improve our intelligence, ability is our Confidential Human Source of the curriculum. For example, intelligence analyst needs to be honestly available information to perform analysis, identify gaps in their knowledge, and to expenses intelligence collector. The intelligence agencies “collect” publicly presented information as well, and also intelligence agencies have attempted to collect information to meet the needs of any Government official. Does anyone confirm that the need exists, i.e. that the information is not otherwise available to the Government, or that the Intelligence collection capabilities, technical or human, also should be used only to collect information that can reasonably be determined, or that has been previously validated, to be of importance to a specific policy maker or intelligence user. Finally, all intelligence collection must be weighed in terms of overall U.S. foreign policy interests. When collection activities are contemplated against allied or friendly governments, there should be an accurate weighing of the political costs against the benefits. Senior police officials must be involved in this process. Analysis The analytic function raise similar practical issues. In theory, intelligence analysts take information provided by perhaps all three collection disciplines, combine it with the National Ground Intelligence Center. HQ, INSCOM, exercises direct OPCON over the NGIC. NGIC produces and maintains intelligence on foreign scientific developments, ground force weapons systems, and associated technologies. NGIC analysis includes, but is not limited to military (2005)203d Military Intelligence Battalion. The 203d MI Battalion is a multi-component
The DNI has modestly more power than the old Directors of Central Intelligence (DCIs), but not enough to give the ODNI/AIS real clout. “Herding cats” remains a decent description of the ODNI’s basic role. The DNI has several duties and responsibilities, but for the subject of improving intelligence information sharing the focus will be directed towards: Improving Analytics, Improving Information Security, Improving Foreign Liaison Relationships, and the end state of Improving Information Sharing.
Intelligence in this day in age is a vital component of a countries security. The newest proposal increases intelligence spending between 2 and 3 billion dollars, a total adding to nearly $35 billion. In addition to military enhancement, the FBI and other law enforcement/intelligence agencies will also be included in this proposal. A new system has been proposed by President Bush that all information be shared among all agencies. DoD, FBI, and the Department of Counterterrorist Center have drawn closer together to create a Terrorist Threat Integration Center to evaluate information blended from all sources associated with terrorism and to act upon those findings accordingly.
Since the birth of America the United States has made the use of intelligence known through the purposes of warfare, defense, and diplomacy. Intelligence is the gathering of information which is analyzed and converted into data to serve as an asset to the decision making process. This is possible by identifying what the national interest is at the time. We use intelligence to provide information based off everyday observations and activities to give us a sense of patterns to form an idea of the “big picture” and identify what threats may be imminent at the time. With reference to Homeland Security Intelligence is not to solely acquire life threatening data, rather than should be to analyzes and share information between the private sector,
The production, analysis, or dissemination of intelligence can be improve to provide actual benefit to homeland security leaders and practitioners in numerous ways. For this to happening, everyone who receives access to intelligence reports must be educated about intelligence itself and willing to understand it. The Washington Post reported in 2004, no more than six senators read beyond the five-page executive summary of the NIE, although 77 senators voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq. (Lowenthal, 2008). Even though it was inevitable of going to war with Iraq. The NIE can foreshadow problems to occur, and could have aid senators in different ways. From understanding the situation better, to helping with foreign policy. Homeland security leaders and practitioners must be direct of what types of reports they are requiring.
Intelligence is often defined as accurate and timely information that assists our nation’s senior leadership in making knowledgeable decisions to prepare for and counter any developing threats against the security of the United States and its citizens. Intelligence is collected in response to requirements levied on the intelligence community by senior policy makers, the military, and law enforcement agencies. It plays a crucial role in our ability to detect and prevent threats against the United States.
The Nation flag. “O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” We've been adopted this flag for about 70 years, but never have care about an African American has never stood free to do anything. In 2017 Colin Kaepernick last found sitting down during the national anthem. He spoke out to the press about why he remained sitting down, it represented for police brutality. Donald Trump now wants him fired and he’s not patriotic for it all.Even though some might disagree, the NFL should honor their belief of taking a knee during the National Anthem and some might agree with it all in what he’s doing.
Massively recognized and known writer Edgar Allan Poe had a very different background and life story than what most people have had. Through out a lot of his writings he has written, he portrays his life experiences and reflects a lot about how he was mentally. The experiences and situations that Poe was subjected to was by no means what anyone should go through, especially at the age Poe experienced his tragic experiences. Though he faced many obstacles, he did not give up his passion of writing, as most people that would have gone through the same experiences would give up on life and their life aspirations. Poe’s writings are a true exposure of the view of the world through the eyes and mind of someone who has been permanently damaged through life experiences.
There are five main INTs that are used in the United States and consist of the following; Human Intelligence (HUMINT) is the collection of information from human sources, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) refers to electronic transmissions collected by ship, planes ground sites, or satellites , Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) also referred to as Photo Intelligence (PHOTINT), Measurement and Signatures Intelligence (MASINT) a collection discipline that concerns weapons capabilities and industrial activities, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) refers to information and sources that are generally available and obtained from the media, professional and academic records and public data. (Intelligence Branch, 2017). While each one of the intelligence collection disciplines are important and valuable in their own way, the Human Intelligence (HUMINT) remains one of the oldest professions. (Lowenthal, 2017, p.
A great points and subjects you brought in this form. Yes I totally agree with you that stovepiping is a problem in collection and intelligence community. Since 9/11 attack and lack of communication between agencies, the process of developing program to make Intelligence community share information with each other is in progress.Sharing information helped with the fund, training, and redundancy. Training and vetting all the contractors working in intelligence community is also another issue, to avoid situations like Snowden. The congress oversight and budget is essential to discipline the intelligence collection procedures, but in same time it slow down the operations. " The IC faces fiscal challenges as the U.S. Government operates under tightened
Data can be collected through human sources, satellites, wiretapping, signals, and internet traffic. However, intelligence organizations must be in compliance with the law to ensure that they are not illegally collecting information (Chesney, 2012). Collection occurs because a threat is likely to occur or agencies are trying to find out what information our foreign adversaries possess about the nation’s assets. Intelligence collection occurs in both domestic and foreign territories. Intelligence agencies collect information about foreign adversaries in order to exploit their weaknesses or vulnerabilities (Gentry, 2008). Furthermore, government agencies and political leaders want to discover which of the nation’s assets are seen as vulnerable to the enemy (Gentry, 2008).
Intelligence is one of the first lines of defense used by the United States to protect the Country against both foreign and domestic threats (Johnson, 2010). There are many ways and methods of intelligence collections employed by the intelligence community such as “spies, eavesdropping, technical sources, and openly available materials” etc (Clark, 2013). Method used also depends on many factors such as available resources, time, agency involved, and intelligence collection source. U.S Intelligence agencies use different collection and analytical method that suit their collection function, structure and pro¬cess. For example, DNI/OSC relies on open source (OSINT), CIA uses human intelligence (HUMINT) tactic, DIA uses measurements and signatures intelligence (MASINT), NSA employs signals intelligence (SIGINT), and NGA utilizes imagery intelligence (IMINT) techniques for their intelligence collections (Clark, 2013).
Emotional intelligence is extremely complex in definition and as such communication of such a definition would require systematic explanation and a variety of powerful communication skills. Emotional intelligence is an imperative aspect of the patient-health care professional relationship in its quest to provide quality HC conducive to health.
Counterintelligence (CI) involves actions aimed at protecting the United States against foreign intelligence operations and espionage from penetration and disruption by hostile nations or their intelligence services (Lowenthal, 2014). Three main components of Counterintelligence include collection, defensive and offensive. The collection is the ability to gather intelligence information about rivalry capabilities against own nation; defensive part of CI involves measures to prevent and thwart other nations ' attempts to penetrate into own nation 's intelligence system; while an offensive aspect deal with running double agents to penetrate, manipulate, exploit, and control targeted adversaries. CI is said to be the most essential aspect of the intelligence disciplines, in the sense that it helps in collecting vast quantities of secret information and produce an excellent analysis of intelligence, although, ineffective counterintelligence measures may diminish confidence in the final results (Van Cleave, 2013).
There are many controversial topics that are discussed in our society and when we discuss these issues we sometimes can come into conflicts on deciding what is the right decision to make because there are too many perspectives. A controversial issue that has been in America for years and has recently become more popular is the issues of the legalization of marijuana. Should marijuana be legalized? Is the popular question that no one seems to have a solid answer to. In recent New York Times articles, they have covered the topic of the Legalization of Marijuana; all articles differ in opinion about what the necessary precautions are for this issues. After reading and analyzing the articles, one could agree that Marijuana should be legalized because it will stop racial discriminations, lessen the rate of crime and help certain health issues.
The analysis is then given to consumers and policy makers, once it is checked by the analyst supervisor and peers. The analyst should also be ready to give a briefing on short notice. But both the analyst and the policy maker or consumer have to be aware of at all times, is that the intelligence field does not know everything. “On any given subject, the intelligence community faces what is in effect a field of rocks, and it lacks the resources to turn over every one to see what threats to national security may lurk underneath” (Pillar).
