In this paper, the role of a social worker will be addressed. A Human Service professional has, in its hands, the responsibilities in the life of the clients and families they meet. The tremendous and arduous responsibilities they take on include, but are not limited to, the well-being and care of people and their communities. Such roles can be helping others manage the care of a family member, assisting individuals experiencing problems with family relations and conflicts, dealing with changes that come with growing old, aiding those suffering mental illness and or those individuals struggling with addictions. Briefly
It is a pleasure meeting you and getting to know you as well. I agree with your reply from my above statement with your statement “I have found the principles to be so important, not only to my work life, but also to my daily life.” While working in this field has continued to show me that having principles when working with individuals is important to maintain their wellness and recovery and to ensure that providers in any human services field are helping with daily activities either with family, school,or work to be conveyed in a way that supports an individual’s needs and goals. From the viewpoint of the individual to improve and maintain their faith, understanding of their abilities and disabilities, enjoyment of an active

Picking just three important characteristics for human services is hard because all of them play an important role. You picked three good characteristics as well. The biggest one you have is having a passion to help other because that is what human services about. Human service is supposed to help others to get to their maximum potential along the way of their journey (Martin, 2014).
In human services there are many prominent characteristics that I believe that are important. Trying to pick three most prominent characteristics is difficult because there are so many others but from watching the interview videos with Mitchell Duncan and Linda Williams the three prominent characteristics would be loyalty, flexibility, and a desire to help others. When working with an individual there needs to be a desire in helping other and that can be shown by building a relationship that is built on trust and loyalty. After the client feels the strong part of loyalty/ support the individual will be more willing to tell the human service worker what is truly going on with them. As a human service professional it is important to met the
If the human service worker is not able to give the client quality care because of conflicting values, beliefs, etc. then a referral should be set in place to the client can receive effective care. If quality care isn’t served then the client can be harmed. The responsibilities of the human service worker is to identify when a referral is in order, act without judgement, act with empathy, consult with peers/supervisors, and to be open and receptive to the client’s needs. 6.
Human services in the world is a very important duty to perform since, there are many programs that are not being funded by governments and so many people are living in poverty around the world that simply cannot afford human service help. However, it is the responsibility of the human service worker to try and help those in need that are not able to afford services and provide the necessary treatment that they are lacking. Although, human services in Western cultures play an important part in the helping relationship in which many factors have influenced the ability and willingness to help society members. Meanwhile, there are many societal circumstances that shape helping behaviors in which reciprocity is an important aspect of human service work since, caring and giving services to those in need is the main focus in the field. Indeed, the different cycles of helping in the American society as they relate to welfare, juvenile justice, mental illness, and criminal justice are not getting enough help they need as many of the grants go to the middle class and rich instead of the poorer population. Therefore, the meaning of human services has a very broad range of duties and responsibilities which are very difficult to perform when many human service programs are not being funded and are letting human service workers go just to keep the
As a human service professional, I strongly value respect and integrity of and welfare of client at all times. “Each client is treated with respect, acceptance, and dignity.” (Woodside, McClam, 2012) Every client must be treated with equal respect and acceptance, whether their culture, religion or gender is different. The other is confidentiality. As a human service professional, it is very important to protect the client’s information. “All written information that is shared with other professionals, except in the course of professional supervision, must have the client’s prior written consent.” (Woodside, McClam, 2012) It is very important never to discuss any client’s information even with a close friend or relatives, except when this information
It is very essential that a human service worker can effectively converse and attain correct and thorough facts in a courteous and meaningful way; it will establish a connection to the person they are working with. It takes talking to a client in order to get even a simple reply. The best way to show a human service worker wants to be helpful is to show they can be trusted, are courteous, and that they are there to listen to the client 's problems without judging them. In order for the worker to build a relationship with the person he must be able to talk strongly, and have the ability to identify and comprehend their specific feelings and also to the individual they are talking to. The worker needs to make sure they are really listening to the person and when the client is done have an empathetic reply which will reassure the client to still reply. "To set the tone of trust and mutual respect, you will want to establish your role as helper early in the relationship. To establish your role, simply state how you can and cannot help. For example, "I can help you to define and clarify your source of distress and develop an action plan for dealing with your problem. I cannot make changes for you or force you to make changes you don 't want to make." When a worker uses inspirational and optimistic support they can inspire the people in the group to talk about how they are feeling and join in on the conversations. People will listen to what others are saying. They can create a
Working closely with the client, human service workers identify problems and create a plan for service to help the client solve these problems. The process may include a multitude of helping techniques by evaluating the client support system,
