Yes, the humanity act saving the polar bears are important too because according to text polar bears are predators their main prey is the ringed seals. The polar bears are adapted to hunt seals if the polar bears go extinct the seal population will inflate causing the seals to need more food which is salmon which could affect the seafood market because the fishermen wouldn’t be able to catch their batch of salmon to make their income. The sea ice is a part of the ecosystem, the ecosystem is providing services that support the human wellbeing. The ecosystem produces food fiber, and water, while the services benefit the humanity derives from the dynamic work of nature. The polar bear sea ice habitat changes caused by global warming which is bad
Global warming is the recent and ongoing rise of temperature on a global scale. Over the past century, the Earth's average temperature has risen 1.4°F (Carlowicz, 2010). Global warming is the effect of an excessive amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gasses trap heat from escaping back into space to keep the Earth from freezing, this is called the Greenhouse Effect. An excessive amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap too much heat, thus, causing Earth's temperature to rise.
Plunging into Lucky Peak for a good cause. Polar Bear Challenge. Lucky Peak Reservoir, Boise Idaho. Saturday, January 1st.
Many people may not know that Canada is home to one of the largest subspecies of polar bears called Ursus maritimus. These polar bears are notorious for being a nuisance for the people of Churchill, Man. Every year, hundreds of polar bears gather on the western shore of Hudson Bay to hunt for seals once the ice freezes. There is one very large issue about this; the polar bears have not eaten in months due to hibernation. This makes the polar bears very desperate for food. The polar bears often invade towns and become aggressive to the townspeople. An important question arises: what is the government doing about it?
The Polar Bear are found on the icy coasts that surrounds the North Poles and as far south as Hudson Bay. Around 60%of Polar Bears can be found in Canada with the remainings throughout Greenland, Alaska, Svalbard, and Russia where tend to be close to the ocean across the icy fields. The habitats are affected by human encroachment by hunting , and releasing chemical pollutants into the water. The Polar Bear eats Seals, Walrus, and Seabirds. Polar Bears can live up to 20-30 year. Polar Bears have a lot of fur and their fur is clear, white, or yellow. The Polar Bear is 6.5 ft-8.3ft. they can weigh up to 330lbs -1,322lbs and they can swim up to 25mph.

Evolution of the Polar Bear and their relationship to the Brown Grizzly: The Controversy Continues
In 2008 the bears were listed by the U.S. Endangered Species Act due to global warming (1). This listing happened because of the ongoing loss of critical habitat for polar bears survival. The arctic sea ice sheets are the primary habitat for the bear. The bear lives, and hunts exclusively on these arctic ice sheets. Increasing global temperatures in the world’s oceans are shrinking the arctic ice for longer periods of time during the late summer months, leaving polar bears with limited hunting and breeding
Less winter sea ice means that female polar bears have to go longer without food, which impacts their fat stores, and, their reproductive success. To summarize, without the sea ice, animals (polar bears in this case) cannot hunt, travel, give birth and have the ability to give birth. The lack of ice reflects this. We know that the lack of ice reflects this because since the ice melting took an increase in the 1980s, the polar bear population has decreased 22% since this time in Canada’s Western Hudson Bay, a popular spot to see polar bears. In overall, the retreating ice has continuously been causing animals like the polar bears to face the consequences.
The students got up one by one after I called them to place the cardboard image next to the vocabulary word.
There are so many consequences because of global warming and humans polluting. As a result of global warming, the polar bear habitat is getting demolished. The warmer temperatures are melting the ice in the Arctic and North Pole. Polar bears are travelling miles and miles to find ice. Polar bears live, eat, and raise their cubs on Arctic ice, which is breaking up and melting at an alarming rate. Year by year, this problem will get worse and worse. Humans and factories throw away their waste in the ocean and it goes in the water the fish and animals drink. Polar bears eat fish and they are affected by this polluted water as well. Hunters kill many animals including the polar bears and it’s decreasing their population. When polar bear population decreases, other animal populations will rise and the animal chain will change. We should not let global warming take over our species and destroy the animal chain. Polar bears are one of the many animals affected and if there are too many animals affected, the whole animal chain will fall apart. Research shows that, even if steps are taken to reduce emissions now, gases already in the atmosphere will continue to heat up the earth for another 40 to 50 years. Scientific statistics indicate they may suffer extinction by year 2100. We still have many years to make a
Once there was a Native American that lived in Alaska and he was raised by the animals around there . He was raised by Polar bears, Penguins and other animals. His name was Polar and he was 19 years old. One day he was having a meal with his family and they see a helicopter. Him and his family were very scared and they were all wondering what it could be. A woman and 2 men got off and were happy to see Polar, Polar was confused though because he has never seen them. They were hugging him and telling him to come home ,He very confused got in the helicopter, The women said it would be a long trip to where they were heading so he fell asleep. His Polar bear family were also very confused and still scared , Polar promised he would come back and
Since the ice is slowly breaking away, it is causing a negative effect for polar bears and their foraging ability by not allowing an area for hunting of ringed seals (Elvin, 2014). Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) talk about how the breaking apart of the ice disrupts the amount of time the polar bears have for hunting seals which in return is causing the polar bears to travel to land sooner. Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) state that as the polar bears are coming to shore sooner, they are interfering with the hatching season of snow geese. Due to the polar bears intruding on the nests, this gives the polar bears the opportunity to consume the offspring of the snow geese and obtain any energy still required (Rockwell and Gormezano, 2009). Even though the polar bears may not get the energy they need from seals, they are still able to get it by other means because of the climate changing.
If a group of four polar bears drowned ONE TIME, then it in not necessairly the fault of global warming. Ever since 1980, there is a growing population of polar bears. Of 13 main groups in canada, 2 are declining, and the other 11 are thriving (Kelly, 2009). In fact, polar bears are becoming a problem to the natives because of the GROWING polar bear population (Watts, 2013). There are actually thousands of feet of rock that has fossils, and these fossils, back when they were animals, thrived in the co2 rich atmosphere, which had TEN TIMES the amount of co2 that we have today (Miscellaneous myths). Now, how is that bad? As for the people that rant on and on about how the co2 we put in the atmosphere causes huge weather problems, you’re next.
Polar bears in the artic have been a topic of conversation and an area of concern amongst the media, the government and the Inuit people. The effects of climate change are being witnessed within the artic bodies of water. Ice in the artic is beginning to melt which is resulting in a loss of sea ice habitat. As a result polar bears have been listed as a ‘Species of Special Concern’. Though polar bears have been placed on this list by the government, the Inuit who have social, cultural and economic significance to this species do not believe in supporting this listing. With many stakeholders involved, each investor has taken a specific stance to what they see to be the utmost benefit to the environment, the species of concern, and what they
The melting ice caps are having a dramatic affect on the polar regions of the earth. For example, the average temperature in the Arctic is rising twice as fast than the rest of the world (nrdc.org). The once prominent ice is now melting at a dramatic speed, which is affecting native people, wildlife, and plants. When the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf splintered, the freshwater lake that it surrounded drained into the ocean, along with the ecosystem that inhabited it. Polar bears, whales, walrus and seals are changing their feeding and migration patterns, making it harder for native people to hunt them (nrdc.org). Because of the flooding, entire villages will be uprooted order to avoid being swamped. Also, the Arctic coastlines are beginning to move as well. The melting ice caps are threatening the native peoples’ cultural identity and their very survival. Ice-dependant animals, such as walruses and ring seals will be greatly affected by the melting ice caps (treehugger.com). They have fewer places to rest on, as well as fewer places to hunt. If the ice caps keep melting, their lives will become in great danger. The melting ice caps are not only affecting the Polar Regions, but they are also affecting the rest of the world as well in the form of rising ocean levels.
